In 1956, its first full year of operation, approximately 10 million cars and trucks used the Turnpike. By 2007, total traffic had increased to more than 51.5 million vehicles, logging more than 2.9 billion miles. With a conservative average of two people per vehicle, the Turnpike serves over 100,000,000 travelers annually.
