2 County Engineer Responsibility Serve as engineer to the Board of County Commissioners and 18 Boards of Township Trustees for roads, bridges and land surveying Road maintenance and construction of roads Oversee County Tax Map office Review and inspect all proposed subdivisions outside of cities and villages National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance

3 Operations and Maintenance What we maintain: 334 centerline miles of roads 378 bridges 2200 culverts Facilities: Headquarters, 50 Channing Street, Delaware Salt and material storage yards Delaware (US 42 North) Berkshire Township (Sunbury) Liberty Township (Powell)

5 Growth Patterns Growth primarily in southern Delaware County Growth traditionally follows sanitary sewer availability Some roads in Southern Delaware County experienced 10% annual traffic growth leading to major traffic problems

6 Load Posted or Closed Bridges Currently only 19 bridges out of 378 considered deficient (5%)

15 Bale Kenyon Rd. Lewis Center & Bale Kenyon Intersection New single lane modern roundabout $2.3 million estimated project with 80% federal highway funding Construction May to August 2017 Includes re-decking of bridge over Alum Creek

16 Bale Kenyon Road Improvements Orange Township Project to widen Bale Kenyon Road from Orange Road to Lewis Center Road and add shared use path Construction beginning late 2016 through summer 2017

17 Sunbury Road Improvements Joint project with City of Westerville Major widening of Sunbury Road including a bike path through the Hoover Nature Preserve and along the east side of Sunbury Road $4.3 million estimated construction with 80% federal funding provided by MORPC Construction began November 2016 Completion November 2017
