24 The following operting principles nd operting suggestions should prove helpful in the successful opertion of your concrete pump. Your new smll line concrete pump hs been designed to give you mny yers of service when operted properly. A study of the following prgrphs is importnt to the successful opertion of your new Direct-flow Concrete Plcer. All concrete pumps require high level of opertor skill nd more frequent service thn most of the other construction equipment. The highly brsive nture of concrete under pressure mkes it extremely importnt tht expendble wer components be inspected t regulr intervls between jobs to prevent hving to replce these items during pour. Experience hs proved tht inconsistency of btched concrete mixes nd frequent moving of the line requires the opertor to be redily vilble t ll times during pumping to stop the pump nd prevent buse to the unit which my occur if unexpected blockges develop. Pump Mix Guidelines When ordering concrete, be certin to dvise the concrete supplier tht you require pump mix. The Direct-flow mnifold will pump wide vriety of mterils, but certin bsic principles must be followed to ssure successful pumping, s follows: Generlly speking, the wshed concrete snd nd #4 ggregte (pe grvel) should conform to A.S.T.M. stndrds in regrd to sieve nlysis. Snds in some res re wshed clen of the #100 nd #200 mesh fines, which results in seprtion nd jmming in the mnifold while pumping under pressure. If this condition develops, check with your concrete suppliers engineers nd get their recommendtions for supplementing the lck of the fines. The use of loclly ccepted d-mixes my be required. (For exmple, Pozzolith, Bentonite Cly, Plstiments, etc.) When properly prescribed, dditives form the plstic pste sometimes necessry to hold the cement nd ggregte together. If jmming conditions in the pump or hose occur for ny reson t ll, do not ttempt to use more power to correct the condition. Determine the cuse of jmming, correct it nd resume pumping. Trying to force mteril through under jmmed conditions my result in dmge to the drive system, thus voiding ny wrrnty services. C-30HDG PUMP GENERAL INFORMATION As generl rule, the use of pproximtely six scks of cement, 70% wshed concrete snd nd 30% #4 pe grvel per yrd of concrete will result in pumpble mix. The idel nture of snd nd rock in certin res my permit you to increse the percentge of rock or djust the mix considerbly to meet the job requirements. When possible, you my experiment with vrious mixes in your re to determine the degree of verstility of the Direct-flow Pump. Uniform grdtion of the wshed concrete snd nd the 1/2 minus ggregte long with sufficient cement content nd wter re importnt to successful pump opertion. A recommended pumpble mix design would be 70% snd nd 30% ggregte-cement content to be minimum of 6 scks. (564 lbs.) Your locl snd nd rock engineers will give you the S.S.D. weights of snd nd rock required in your locl re which will yield one cubic yrd per the bove recommendtion. Smple Design Mix Psi 3/8 in. In some res where the grdtion of snd nd rock is idel nd sufficient cement is used long with dmixtures, the Myco smll line concrete pump will hndle up to rtio of snd nd rock. When the mix is designed for wet gunning pplictions, it is norml to increse the cement (up to 7.5 or 8 scks) nd chnge the snd to rock rtio to 85% snd nd 15% rock. The Myco concrete pump will vlve efficiently when using cellulr-fom concrete mixes upwrds of 70 lbs. per cubic foot wet density. (Below 70 lbs. mterils (roof decks) the vlving becomes inefficient.) 25 The C-30HDG concrete pump hs one min pumping piston which is vlved by mens of two bll checks. (A inlet, nd B outlet.) The secondry piston is used s compenstor piston to smooth out the pulstions of single piston ction. Note: The compenstor will not strt operting until mteril is pumped into the line nd bck pressure develops. The compenstor spring, which is instlled on the compenstor piston rod, deflects with ech piston stroke. This spring cushion, in conjunction with the cm profile, produces nd uninterrupted smooth flow of mteril under verge pumping conditions. The pumping cylinder (Figure 10) retrcts drwing the mteril pst the bll (A) nd filling the cylinder. The compenstor piston is pumping the mteril out to the nozzle nd cusing bll (B) to set preventing the mteril from returning to the pumping cylinder intke. Figure 10. Pumping Cylinder C-30HDG PUMP HOW IT WORKS An utomtic, centrifugl clutch is instlled to engge nd disengge the pumping ction without stopping or strting the engine. The centrifugl clutch is set t 1100 R.P.M. The engine idle speed is pproximtely 875 R.P.M.; therefore, the clutch is completely disengged t idle. The throttle settings while pumping should lwys mintin n engine R.P.M. high enough to prevent the clutch from slipping nd burning the clutch lining. The return spring which is instlled on the rocker rm, is instlled to eliminte shock nd stress between the cm roller nd the cm weldment when the pump is in opertion. If the return spring is removed or replced for ny reson, mintin the bcking plte dimension of 3 s shown on Figure 3, to produce the proper pre-loding of the spring for smooth performnce. 26 The pumping piston (Figure 11) is forcing the mteril pst bll (B) nd out to the nozzle, lso seting bll A so tht the mteril will not flow bck to the hopper. This ction lso fills the compensting piston for the next stroke. Figure 11. Pumping Pistons Figure 12 shows the reltionship between the return spring, the compenstor spring nd the rocker rm to mintin smooth performnce. DO NOT tighten the bolt (Item 1) completely, the rod end must be ble to move. 27 OPERATING SUGGESTIONS 1. A well-plnned loction of the pump nd routing of the hose before strting pour my sve subsequent moves throughout the job. 2. Before concrete is dischrged into the hopper, it is suggested tht 3 to 4 gllons of wter be spryed into the hopper, followed by pproximtely 5 gllons of cremy cement nd wter slurry (1/2 bg of cement to 5 gllons of wter). This procedure lubrictes the hose nd prevents seprtion nd blockges in the hose. Getting the concrete to flow through the hose t the strt of the pumping cycle cn be one of the most criticl opertions of the pour. (Mnully operte the throttle when strting, NOT remotely) WARNING - Hose Blockge Hzrd If hoses or lines re blocked for ny reson, or if the lines re kinked when strting up or during the pumping cycle, the pump pressure could strighten out the kink or force out the blockge. This rpid surge of mteril could cuse the lines to whip or move in mnner tht could cuse injury to personnel. Inspect the lines t ll times to prevent the bove conditions 3. It is importnt tht once the slurry procedure is completed, nd you hve strted concrete flowing through the hose, do not stop the pour until ll the slurry is pumped out nd the concrete hs reched the end of the hose. The only time to stop the pump t the strt is if blockge occurs. 4. When the pump is stopped for ny reson during pour; e.g., moving hose, witing for redi-mix truck, the following suggestions re offered: A. Leve the hopper full of concrete t the time of shutdown. It is importnt not to let the redi-mix driver wsh too much wter into the hopper, s this could cuse seprtion of the concrete in the hopper. B. If the shutdown period exceeds 2 to 3 minutes, turn off the engine so the vibrtion does not seprte the mix in the hopper which cn cuse blockge in the mnifold when the pump is strted. C-30HDG PUMP OPERATING INFORMATION C. If it is necessry to wit 10 minutes or more for nother lod of concrete, it is wise to strt the pump nd pump 6 or 8 strokes every 5 minutes to prevent setting of the mix in the system. If witing time is excessive, it would be wise to wsh out the pump nd hoses nd strt over when the new truck rrives. D. When pumping stiff mixes nd there is witing time between redi-mix trucks, it is dvisble to dd some wter to the lst hopper of mteril nd hnd mix to ensure n esier strt with the following lod. E. When the pumping job requires stiffer mix, the following method is suggested for strting: Tke wter hose with nozzle on it nd pply wter with fine spry to the concrete s it comes down the redi-mix chute into the pump hopper fter the slurry procedure is completed nd you re redy to strt pumping. Using this procedure will mke it esier to pump through the clen hose. Note: Once the concrete hs reched the end of the hose, do not pply ny more wter in this mnner s this procedure is used on the strt only. F. Hose sizing is very importnt: We strongly recommend on hrsh mixes, verticl pushes, stiff concrete, shotcrete, long pushes, tht 2-1/2 line be used s fr s possible. The dvntges of using the 2-1/2 line re improved pumpbility, less pumping pressure nd less wer on the pump. 5. Following the pump opertion, proper wsh out of ll mterils or build-up within the pump mnifold nd hoses will prevent problems when strting the next job. 6. A thorough inspection of the drive components nd gresing of ll berings fter ech job will ensure dequte lubriction nd service to the pump which is normlly operting in wet, gritty conditions. Over-gresing ny bering on your Myco pump will not dmge the bering. MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17) PAGE 29

28 WARNING - Hose Blockge Hzrd If you repetedly pull the throttle ll the wy out nd try to force your pump to push through blockges due to seprtion of mteril in the hose or mnifold, you will soon hve brekdowns nd costly repirs which re not covered under wrrnty. If blockge occurs, find where it is nd cler it before further pumping. DO NOT increse the engine speed to cler the blockge. Incresing the engine speed will only compound the problem. WARNING - Moving The Pump On The Job Site It will be necessry t times to move your pump from one job site loction to nother. Before moving the pump, mke sure to pump the remining concrete out of the hopper. Moving the pump with full hopper of concrete cn cuse severe dmge or brekge of the xle nd xle springs, excess strin nd pressure on the hub nd bering ssembly. New Pumps All new pumps re wter pressure tested t the fctory before shipment. This procedure permits thorough inspection of the entire drive system nd vlving under simulted full lod conditions. The pump owner cn do the sme by ttching n dptor couple to the end of the dischrge cone; e.g., the use of stndrd 2 in. pipe cp with 3/8 in. hole drilled in the center, screwed on to the end of the hinged cone or reducer t the pump. Fill the hopper with wter fter mking sure tht ll snd nd rock hve been removed from the mnifold. Operte the pump t full throttle nd the 3/8 in. dimeter hole restriction will crete sufficient bck-pressure to mke thorough inspection of ll moving prts. Pumping Tips 1. The effects of het nd excessive time on concrete: Hot concrete, commonly referred to s hot lod, is concrete tht hs been in the redi-mix truck in excess of 2 to 3 hours. On hot dy, this mount of time is even less. A brief explntion of why het nd time ffect concrete: Concrete strts setting by drying up through chemicl rection. The ctlyst to this rection is het. When pumping hot lod, it is importnt to remember tht when you hve to stop pumping for ny reson, dd wter to the concrete in the hopper nd hnd mix nd move concrete in the hose every 5 minutes. If the shut down time becomes too long, wsh out immeditely. C-30HDG PUMP OPERATING INFORMATION 2. ADMIXTURES Remixtures tht re designed into the concrete mix by the redi-mix compny or n rchitecturl engineering compny. This section lists common dmixtures nd brief explntion of their functions: A. Pozzolith 300 or the equivlent cts s wter retrder nd lubricnt. On len mix, long pushes, stiff mixes, nd verticl pushes, Pozzolith 300R helps pumpbility. B. MBVR ir entrining, cts s lubricnt. C. Clcium Chloride commonly referred to s C.C., is used s n ccelertor. When pumping lod with clcium chloride, it is recommended tht you wsh out if the witing time between delivery trucks becomes too long. D. Super Plsticizers cts s n ccelertor. The concrete will look very wet fter the super plsticizer is dded, but will begin to set up very fst. Wsh out immeditely if you do not hve truck witing. Super plsticizers re used minly on commercil jobs. E. Red Lbel cts s wter retrder nd n ccelertor. Red lbel will be used minly on commercil jobs. F. Fly Ash is used to help increse the strength of the concrete nd decrese the cement content per yrd. This is one of the most common dmixtures used. All dmixtures will be shown on the redi-mix concrete ticket. Before strting the pumping job, sk the driver of the redi-mix truck to see the concrete ticket nd note the dmixtures tht exist nd tke the proper ction. 3. When pumping long distnce or pumping stiff mixes, you cn expect drop in volume compred to shorter lines nd wetter mixes due to the chnge in vlve efficiency or cvittion. 4. Leking mnifold sels or hose coupling gskets which lek wter cn cuse seprtion nd subsequent jmming t tht point. 5. Dmged hoses with internl restrictions cn cuse blockges. PAGE 30 MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17)

29 6. If blockge occurs in hose, wlk the hose until you find the point of trouble. The hose will be soft immeditely pst the blockge. If this hppens t the strt, disconnect the hose t the first coupling pst the blockge. Elevte the hose t tht point with the blockge re hnging down. CAUTION - Hose Pressure Hzrd When disconnecting hoses, use extreme CAUTION! The hose is under pressure! Using hmmer, you cn pound the down-strem edge of the pcked re until it is free to flow. Shke ll of the snd nd grvel out to the end of the hose. Before reconnecting the hose, strt the pump nd run smll mount of concrete out to the end of the hose. This will ssure tht ll of the seprtion is out of the hose. 7. Clering Plugged Mnifold The mnifold is plugged if the volume t the dischrge end of the hose stops, nd the hose is soft. The drive belts will strt to slip nd the engine will lugdown. Follow steps 7A through 7J to un-plug clogged mnifold. DANGER - Clering A Plugged Mnifold Due to pressure build-up inside the mnifold, gret cre must be tken when clering plugged mnifold. A. STOP the pump. Switch OFF the engine. B. DO NOT open ny of the delivery system joint clmps. C. The senior opertor must wrn ll others to stnd t lest 20 feet wy from the pump nd turn their heds wy from the mnifold. D. The opertor must position himself/herself wy from the hinged side of the mnifold. E. Wering sfety glsses, grsp the clmp rm weldment nd crefully pull it open to the primry (sfety) position. STOP count to 20. This will llow the pressure to relese. F. After the pressure hs been relesed, open the clmp rm weldment nd swing the hinged dischrge cone open. G. Remove blockge with round 2-foot length of reinforcing steel rod. Flush the mnifolds with wter. Mke sure the (3 x 2 ) reducer is cler of ny blockge before closing the dischrge cone. C-30HDG PUMP OPERATING INFORMATION H. After the blockge hs been clered nd the pump mnifold hs been thoroughly flushed with wter, close the hinged dischrged cone nd lock into plce. I. Before reconnecting hose to the reducer, strt the engine nd pump two or three shovels of concrete through the reducer. This will insure tht ll the blockge hs been clered. J. Shke out round 2 feet of concrete before reconnecting hose to pump. After this is done, connect hose to pump nd resume the pumping opertion. 8. Avoiding Setting of the Mix in the System To void setting of the concrete mix in the system when witing more thn 30 minutes between concrete lods, flush the system depending on job fctors (such s presence of ccelertors nd job site temperture) nd your prticulr mix design. Clering Mix from the System If, for ny reson, the mix should set up in the system, the following procedure is suggested: CAUTION - Hose Pressure Hzrd When disconnecting hoses, use EXTREME CAUTION! The hose is under pressure! 1. Disconnect the hoses from the pump nd wsh the pump out immeditely. For exmple: If you hd 200 ft. of system out, you would disconnect ech hose. 2. Reconnect the first hose nd fill the hopper with wter. DO NOT try to push ll the concrete out of ll of the hose lines t one time. 3. Clen it out by pushing wter through the first hose off the pump, then continue progressing through ll the hoses, until ll the system is clen. 4. If witing time is excessive, it would be wise to wsh out the pump nd hoses nd strt over when the new truck rrives. This cn be voided by being observnt to the pump nd system, lso tking into considertion the bove fctors ffecting the mix. MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17) PAGE 31

30 Down-Hill Pumping Downhill pumping cn be difficult on some jobs. It is suggested tht sponge 2 x 4 x 6 be plced in the hose before the strt of pumping. Wet the sponge before plcing it in the hose. Reference the Operting Suggestions t the strt of this section for slurry procedures. The reson for using the wet sponge is to keep the slurry from running too fr hed of the concrete nd so reducing the possibility of seprtion. When the pump is stopped, the mteril cn flow slowly down, due to grvity, nd cuse the hose to collpse. When pumping is resumed, you cn expect blockge t the point of hose collpse. To prevent this from hppening, the hose cn be kinked off t the dischrge end when the pump is stopped to prevent the grvity flow of the mteril in the hose. The use of stiffer mixes when pumping down-hill will decrese grvity flow of the mteril in the hose nd will ssure smoother opertion between the cm roller bering nd cm plte. As with ny job, mke sure tht the hose nd the couplings re in good workble shpe. Verticl Pumping When pumping verticlly up the side of building, bove 40 feet, we would recommend the instlltion of steel pipe securely fstened t intervls s necessry to support the pipe. Ninety degree, long rdius pipe sweeps should be instlled t the top nd bottom of the steel line. Use 25 ft. hose, or short section, off the pump; nd for the blnce of the horizontl distnce to the verticl line, use steel pipe. This type of instlltion hs been stisfctory on mny jobs being pumped in excess of 100 feet high. Line pressures re lwys less using steel pipe s compred to hose. When pumping verticlly using ll hose, it is recommended not to go higher thn 50 feet with hose. The hose should be tied off t intervls of 10 feet, if possible. Specil ttention should be given when tieing the hose off t the top s the hose will hve tendency to stretch when filled with concrete. This will increse the possibility of blockge t the point where the hose is tied off. To void this, long rdius of 90 degree elbow is recommended. The suggested plce to tie off is on the hose, under the clmp. It is strongly recommended tht steel pipe be used on ALL verticl pumping for sfety nd convenience. C-30HDG PUMP OPERATING INFORMATION Vlve Sets If the volume t the end of hose strts to decrese grdully nd eventully lmost stops, it is quite likely tht the vlve sets hve hd excessive wer nd need replcement. Once they hve reched certin wer point, they my chnnel out rpidly nd mteril will reciprocte pst the bll on ech stroke. The hollow steel bll should be replced when it strts to show dents or ppers to be bdly worn. Snd nd ggregte mterils in some res re extremely shrp nd hrd nd therefore highly brsive. Under these conditions when pumping stiff mixes, or to high elevtions which cuse line pressures, it will be noted tht vlve components my hve short wer life. If this condition exists, it is dvisble to remove the mnifold only, nd inspect the lower set t the end of ech dy. If it ppers tht the set is beginning to chnnel out", replce before strting the next dy s pour. The upper vlve set cn be inspected fter ech wshout by running your finger round lower edge of set where the bll mkes contct. You cn rech this from the inside of the hopper. Be sure tht the engine is turned off. Pulstion A slight pulstion of the hose will lwys be noticeble ner the pump. Excessive pulstion of the hose ner the pump is normlly due to higher thn verge line pressures cused by stiff, hrsh mixes, or extremely long pumping distnces. The use of 2-1/2 I.D. hose in these extreme cses reduces line pressures or the ddition of slight mounts of wter to the mix, if permissible, will permit esier pumping. The use of certin pumping dmixtures my help. If excessive pulstion exists in the hose, it is dvisble to use burlp or some mens of wer protection under the hose t points where the hose my wer through the outer cover; e.g. over forms, steel or shrp curbs. PAGE 32 MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17)

31 Cm Roller If the cm roller does not ride on the cm profile smoothly, it my be cused by insufficient line bck-pressure; e.g., wet mix with only 50 feet of hose. Add more hose s necessry. It cn lso be cused by cvittion or the pssing of over-sized ggregtes through the vlving, cusing it to skip. Snp-Joint When using Snp-Joint couplings with gskets to join hose, see tht they re wshed clen fter ech job. Keeping the hose ends clen (hevy duty) is very importnt for the best job setup. A thin cot of grese on the rubber gsket or dipping both coupling nd gsket in wter before coupling the hose will mke for esier instlltion. 32 CAUTION - Generl Sftey Guidelines NEVER operte the pump in confined re or enclosed re structure tht does not provide mple free flow of ir. ALWAYS wer pproved eye nd hering protection before operting the pump. NEVER operte the pumps's engine with the engine hood removed. The possibility exists of hnds, long hir, nd clothing becoming entngled with the V-belt, cusing injury nd bodily hrm. NEVER plce hnds or feet inside the hopper. ALWAYS mke while the engine is running. ALWAYS shut-down the engine before performing ny kind of mintennce service on the pump. Before Strting 1. Red sfety instructions t the beginning of this mnul. 2. Removing ny dirt nd dust tht might hve ccumulted round the engine cooling ir inlet, fuel injection system. 3. Check the ir filter for dirt nd dust. If ir filter is dirty, replce ir filter with new one s required. 4. Check fuel injection system for externl dirt nd dust. Clen with dry compressed ir. 5. Check fstening nuts nd bolts for tightness. 6. Connect Bttery 7. Mke sure hopper is free of dirt nd foreign debris (lrge objects over 2-inches) 8. 41 V-Belt And Drive Chin Adjustment 1. Loosen the pillow bering bolts (Figure 26) only to the point where the bolts will remin snug. 2 Unlock the two pusher bolt lock nuts. 3. Turn ech pusher bolt clockwise n equl mount until the chin is to proper djustment of pproximtely 3/8 to 1/2 in. slck in the chin. It is very importnt tht the pulley side nd the chin side (pillow block berings) re within 1/16 of n equl distnce. 4. This distnce cn be checked by using tpe mesure or stright edge ruler, mesuring from the inside of the pusher bolt brcket to the fce of the pillow block bering. 5. The drive chin should be djusted regulrly to remove ll slck. Once ll slck is removed, DO NOT over-djust, s this will overlod the shft berings. A slck chin on the crnk drive cretes bcklsh nd shock lods on the shfts nd berings which results in shorter wer/life of the drive components. 6. Lubricte the chin regulrly. Note-it is dvisble to crry spre chin nd mster links for replcement in the field if necessry. C-30HDG PUMP MAINTENANCE (PUMP) Figure 26. V-Belt nd Drive Chin Adjustment 7. 42 Roller Chin Appliction A properly selected, instlled nd mintined drive chin (Figure 27) is n extremely verstile mens of power trnsmission. It is possible, however, to gretly reduce chin s life nd even induce filure if the chin is bused through improper instlltion, operting or mintennce procedures. In certin pplictions, filure cn led to personl injury or property dmge. Figure 27. Drive Chin Recommendtions nd comments on how to get the most from your roller chin drive re given in this section. The drive chin used in the MAYCO C-30HDNI pump is mnufctured by the "DIAMOND CHAIN COMPANY TM " Working Lods UTS-Ultimte Tensile Strength-is the one time pull required to brek the chin. For single strnd chin, the lod (pull) pplied to the chin in service should never exceed 1/6th of the UTS for the chin being used except s noted below. It is possible to exceed the llowble working lods for limited number of cycles, but you should contct Dimond Chin Compny before this is considered. A roller chin should never be loded bove 50% of UTS for even one cycle. To do so will dmge the chin structure nd reduce its cpcity. The UTS or one time breking lod of multiple strnd chin is the UTS of single strnd chin times the number of strnds; i.e., two strnd chin is twice s strong s single. When llowble working lods re considered, however, the cpcity of ech strnd in multiple strnd chin is only 65% of the single strnd rting; thus, three-strnd chin would rte not three times single but only 1.95 times. This is becuse the chin lod cnnot be exctly distributed cross ll three strnds of the three-strnd chin. C-30HDG PUMP MAINTENANCE (PUMP) Instlltion nd Drive Alignment Chin nd sprockets (Figure 28) must be instlled correctly. Sprockets must be properly ligned nd sprocket shfts must be prllel so the drive will run in plne perpendiculr to them. Axil lignment should be checked with stright edge which will extend cross the finished sides of the sprockets. They should be true-running with minimum wobble nd eccentricity. The higher the drive speed, the more importnt these detils become. Figure 28. Shft nd Drive Sprocket Alignment The chin should be instlled so the slck spn is properly tensioned. To check chin tension (Figure 29), turn one sprocket to tighten the upper spn of the chin while holding the other sprocket fixed. The lck spn should hve 4-6% of spn length in the mid-spn movement for horizontl drives nd 2-3% for verticl drives. Figure 29. Drive Chin Tension A roller chin s cpcity cn be significntly reduced if it is twisted or bent sidewys in the direction of the pin xis. Exercise prticulr cre in lignment of hoist or other pplictions where lods re suspended ner personnel. PAGE 44 MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17)

43 Drive Chin Lubriction As chin rticultes in entering nd leving sprocket, there is reltive movement between pin nd bushing surfces. These surfces wer cusing chin elongtion. If lubricnt film cn be mintined between the pin nd bushing, the wer rte is very slow nd the chin wer life very long. Mintining the oil film is reltively simple t low speeds but becomes incresingly difficult s the speed increses. It is recognized tht good lubriction is not possible in mny pplictions, so shorter wer life must be ccepted in these situtions. In generl, chin wer leds to rough or unstisfctory service prior to ctul chin brekge. Good lubriction cn help to prevent chin filure by providing protection ginst rust or corrosion. Rusting cn llow pits to form in the surfces of the chin prts cusing stress concentrtion points. This cn led to chin filure t reltively low lods. C-30HDG PUMP MAINTENANCE (PUMP) The clernce between pin nd bushings is very smll (Figure 30), on the order of.003 to.005 inches. A lubricnt must be thin enough to flow into the chin. SAE 30 weight oil is bout right for room temperture. Lighter oil should be used for lower mbients nd hevier for higher operting tempertures. Grese should not be used s it cnnot penetrte chin clernces. Figure 30. Chin-Link Cross Section MAYCO C-30HDG PUMP OPERATION AND PARTS MANUAL REV. #7 (12/04/17) PAGE 45

If chin is riveted type construction, grind pin heds off so pin ends re flush with the linkplte. 3. Drive pins out of linkplte using Dimond pin extrctor Model P/N 113 or 135. Some multiple strnd chins or lrge pitch models will require hmmer nd punch or press to remove the pins. Instlltion Of Coversides Dimond Chin coversides re mnufctured three different wys: Slip Fit Modified Press Fit Full Press Fit Instlltion of Spring Locks nd Cotter-Pins After coversides hve been instlled, instll spring locks or cotters (depending on chin design). Avoid using bent or worn cotters or spring locks. After spring locks (or cotters) re instlled, lightly tp pin ends to position these prts snug ginst the coverside for dditionl support. Tips To Remember Modified nd Full Press Fits require some ptience nd tools to ssemble nd/or disssemble. Use vice grips, plumbers pliers or smll hmmer to drive coversides onto pins. Chin will brek if mused or bused Serious injury or property dmge cn result if chin is instlled incorrectly.
