General characteristics Totally clampable turn system available in 5 different base sets of which 3 sets are operated by a handle with 2 forks (series 4200) and 2 sets which are operated by a handle with 1 fork (series 4000). The system can also be used for windows higher and/or wider than 1200 mm providing that the following centre locking sets are used: 1. Handles with 2 forks series 4200 n for vent height = mm n for vent height = mm n for vent width = mm 2. Handles with 1 fork series 4000 n for vent height = mm n N for vent height = mm n for vent width = mm The side hung open in windows can be provided with the following hinges: 2-part hinges n and -221: max. vent weight 75 kg, max. vent width 1000 mm 3-part hinges n and -321: max. vent weight 80 kg, max. vent width 1200 mm bottom hinge n top hinge n : same appearance as the turn-tilt hinges max. vent weight 90 kg, max. vent width 1400 mm bottom hinge n top hinge n : both hinges have horizontal adjustment the bottom hinge has vertical adjustment same appearance as the turn-tilt hinges max. vent weight 90 kg (up to 130 kg provided that the additional reinforcement set n is used), max. vent width 1700 mm All handles with 1 fork can also be used for the turn-tilt system SALTO 4008 and all handles with 2 forks have the same shape as the turn-tilt system. Therefore side hung open in, turn-tilt and tilt-turn windows can be used next to one another with the advantage of having the same appearance. Reinforcement set n For windows with vent weight between 90 kg and 130 kg and with Fb > 1400 mm the reinforcement set n must be used to reinforce the top hinge. The M4x10 thread forming screws must fix into at least 6 mm of aluminium. Drilling jig n is available for drilling the holes. Note: The reinforcement set can only be used in combination with the adjustable hinge n Reinforcement set n reinforcement piece screw C

9 7.2. Window stay n , -902 or -903 The window stay restricts the opening angle of the window in turn position. The window stay should be used for safety purposes or where the opening arc may be obstructed. The position of the stay will dictate the opening angle of the window. The window stay is detachable by turning rivet R with a 4 mm hexagon key. The window stay has integral friction adjusted by turning the screw S. The stay can hold the vent in any turn position. Fb = mm Order code Y X Dimension X restricts the opening angle at ± Run on rest n The run on rest n is recommended to reduce the pressure on the hinges in closed position. It is used in combination with wedge n The run on rest n should not be ordered separately when using base set n or with windows with a horizontal centre locking set because it is included in these sets. The run on rest is simply pushed into the rod groove of the vent section Drive pin n For windows with vent height from 300 to 400 mm drive pin n must be ordered in addition. This is only suitable for windows operated by a handle with 1 fork. These windows require one single connecting rod between the top and bottom bolt n (set n ) or between the top and bottom locking point n (set n ). The rod is cut and drilled as shown. The n drive pin is riveted into the ø6.1 mm hole and acts as the drive for the handles with 1 fork. C

10 8. Hinges The hinges have the same shape as the turn-tilt hinges. Both turn-tilt windows and side hung open in windows can be placed next to one another with the advantage of having the same appearance. 20 12. General information The handle height should not be less than 1/3 of the vent height. Technical advise should be sought when the sizes of your window are not shown in the chart. In schools and in other places where safety is important, we advise the use of a window stay n , -902, -903 and a handle with cylinder. The system is made of noncorroding materials. The set should not be installed in corrosive atmospheres. Sobinco cannot be held responsible for the malfunctioning of the system if any non-sobinco parts are used. Surface treatment of vent and frame must take place before assembly of the set, as this will affect the working of the gear. Glazing must be in accordance with national standards. The window and gear should be kept clean and lubricated in accordance with our maintenance instructions (copy available on request).
