3 1. General characteristics The system SALTO 4138 is available for windows with sloping head. SALTO 4138 is based on the standard set SALTO The operation is the same but the following parts are different: adjustable corner transmission bent link arm safety device situated near the handle Very quick assembly: pre-assembled components and screws. easy access to fixing and adjustment screws. The handle is placed on the smallest vertical side of the window. An additional vertical centre locking set is not possible with the SALTO For good stability and operation of the window there are 3 sizes of link arms: Link arm A for vent width (Ls): mm Link arm B for vent width (Ls): mm Link arm C for vent width (Ls): mm B12.13 The three link arms have an adjustable friction device incorporated to hold the vent in tilt position. The link arms B and C are provided with a pre-locking pull in wedge to ease closing from the tilt position. Horizontal and vertical adjustment of bottom hinge is possible after installation. All parts are made of non-corroding materials. 5 3. Horizontal centre locking set n N Windows with vent width (Ls) from mm require an additional centre locking set n N. SALTO 4138B or C 4138B or C N locking point corner transmission wedge 4. Windows with Ls = mm For windows with vent width (Ls) from 432 to 450 mm connection piece n must be additionally ordered. 6 5. Special accessories 5.1. Reinforcement set n For windows with vent weight between 90 kg and 130 kg and with Fb > 1400 mm the reinforcement set n must be used to reinforce the top hinge. The M4x10 thread forming screws must fix into at least 6 mm of aluminium. Drilling jig n is available for drilling the holes. Reinforcement set n reinforcement piece screw 5.2. Window stay n , -902 or -903 The window stay restricts the opening angle of the window in turn position. The window stay should be used for safety purposes or where the opening arc may be obstructed. The position of the stay will dictate the opening angle of the window. The window stay is detachable by turning rivet R with a 4 mm hexagon key. The window stay has an integral friction adjusted by turning the screw S. The stay can hold the vent in any turn position. Fb = mm Order code Y X Dimension X restricts the opening angle at ± 90. B

The locked cylinder handle n CYL has a free run from 0 to 90 which means that the window can always be put in the tilt or ventilation position. The turn position can only be obtained with an unlocked cylinder. When ordering please indicate quantity of left hand and right hand handles. Finish: grip in aluminium and base in zinc alloy, always polyester powder coated (more than 450 RAL colours). The handle can be operated by loose grip n 505 or, in case of fire, the square pointed end of a fireman s axe. 10 6.2. Fixing holes The fixing holes are always at a distance of 82 mm. A drilling jig n is available for the handle cutouts. 7. Preparations The position of these wedges depends on the angle of inclination B

Order example: A tilt-turn window with overall vent width (Ls) 1450 mm and overall vent height (Fh1) 1550 mm in which glass has a thickness of 20 mm and a weight of 50 kg/m². 13 10. General information B12.13 The tilt-turn system SALTO 4138 can be used within the Fh/Fb sizes and weight limitations indicated on the chart below. The ratio of the dimensions Fb/Fh must not exceed the value of 1.5. The handle height should not be less than 1/3 of the vent height. Technical advise should be sought when the sizes of your window are not shown in the chart. In schools and in other places where safety is important, we advise a window stay n , -902, -903 and a handle with cylinder. The advantage of a tilt-turn system SALTO 4138 with a turn lock handle is that the locked handle can operate the window from closed position to tilt position, for ventilation. The turn position can only be obtained by unlocking the handle. The system is made of non-corroding materials. The set should not be installed in corrosive atmospheres. Sobinco cannot be held responsible for the malfunctioning of the tilt-turn system SALTO 4138 if any non- Sobinco parts are used. All parts must be assembled in accordance with the instructions as described in previous pages. Surface treatment of vent and frame must take place before assembly of the set, as this will affect the working of the gear. Glazing must be in accordance with national standards. The window and gear should be kept clean and lubricated in accordance with our maintenance instructions (copy available on request).
