Snyder High Schl Bus Transprtatin Prgram Handbk Plicies and Prcedures fr the Schl Year Admissins fr the Bus Transprtatin Prgram All students participating in Bishp Snyder s bus prgram must be registered in advance with Mrs. Mary Anne Briggs, Assistant t the Principal. Only registered students are permitted n the bus. Fee Schedule The fee fr full time participatin in the bus prgram is $1,300.00, r $ fr ne-way participatin, nn-refundable and nt re-negtiable. A $ depsit is due with the cntractual agreement. The remaining balance f $1, r $ (ne-way) may be attached t the tuitin accunt, payable thrugh the FACTS prgram. 3 General Plicies and Prcedures fr Rute Schedules Rute Scheduling Due t the incnsistencies f traffic, all rute times are apprximate. Please be patient, especially during the first few weeks f schl, as rutes are established. We will d ur best t keep t ur schedule. Mrning Arrival/Departure Students shuld be ready t bard at the specified arrival time. The latest time that the driver will wait is indicated n the schedule as the depart time. N additinal stps are permitted nce the bus leaves the specified lcatin. The bus will nt stp alng the rute t accept tardy students r t make any ther stps. Arrival at Bishp Snyder Scheduled arrival at Bishp Snyder is at 7:30 AM. Students will arrive at the main breezeway in frnt f the gymnasium. If fr sme reasn the bus is running late, the driver will ntify the main ffice by phne and students will receive excused admit slips fr their A perid class. Departure frm Bishp Snyder Students shuld reprt t the bus lading zne (main breezeway ut side f the gymnasium) by 3:20 PM (2:20 PM n Wednesdays). Please nte that the bus departs n later than ten (10) minutes after the reprting time. The bus is scheduled t depart frty (40) minutes after schl dismissal t allw students enugh time t meet with teachers r participate in club meetings. Afternn Pick-up Specific infrmatin abut each lcatin is cntained in the next sectin. Parents and guardians shuld be prepared t claim students at the apprpriate time and lcatin. Please understand that the driver cannt, and will nt, wait after the specified time. Students nt picked up must wait at an apprved lcatin. Drivers will ensure that students have cntacted parents via cell phne befre leaving fr the next scheduled stp. Fr safety reasns, any parent wh plans t have anther adult pick up his/her student must submit a nte including the persn s full name and relatin t the student t the bus driver in advance. If a nte is nt pssible, please cntact the driver by phne. The bus will nly drpff students at the specified lcatin. N additinal stps are permitted. Peridic Schedule Changes The afternn schedule will change n a few ccasins during the schl year including the 9 th Grade first day f schl, PLAN/PSAT testing, Midterm and Final Exam days, t name a few. A separate schedule will be sent hme and made available n the Bishp Snyder website. Special Afternn Arrangements If yur student plans t rutinely walk hme, ride with anther parent r student, r wait at an apprved drp-ff lcatin, a separate frm is required. 5 Switching Rutes If it is necessary fr a student t be drpped ff at a different bus stp than the stp where they are nrmally drpped ff, parents shuld cntact Mr. Kellum and Mr. Jslin t make the request knwn. Hurricane/Emergency Prcedures If the afternn bus schedule is mdified due t a lcal hurricane evacuatin r fr sme ther emergency, parents will be ntified by the main ffice r via the schl s emergency phne bradcasting system f the new arrival times at the varius drp-ff lcatins. General Plicies and Prcedures Absences If yur child plans t be absent frm the bus, please send a nte with him r her the day befre the absence r cntact Mr. Jslin frm 5:30 6:30 AM r 2:30 3:30 PM n his cellular phne at (904) Please remember t als cntact the Main Office in the mrning if the student will be absent frm r tardy t schl at (904) Tardiness The bus must depart all lcatins n schedule and cannt wait fr tardy students lnger than the scheduled time. Furthermre, at n pint will the driver turn arund fr students wh are late. The Administratin reserves the right t assess fees and/r suspend r dismiss students frm the bus prgram shuld there be ccurrences f excessive tardiness (i.e. afternn drp-ff withut prir arrangements). Participatin in Schl Activities Fr thse students participating in schl activities r athletics, parents shuld ntify Mr. McIntire well in advance with nrmal dates f absence. If there are any changes t this schedule, a parent shuld cntact Mr. McIntire by phne. Central Detentin Participatin in the bus prgram des nt lessen a student s respnsibility t fulfill disciplinary cnsequences. Therefre, any student wh receives a central detentin as a disciplinary cnsequence will be respnsible fr his r her wn transprtatin n that day. 6 Decrum Leaving Campus Fr safety and security reasns, students are nt permitted t leave campus in the afternn befre bus pick-ups. It is imprtant that students understand that they must remain n campus frm the time f schl dismissal until the scheduled pick-up time fr the bus. Persnal Belngings Students are respnsible fr their persnal belngings n the bus. N persnal items are t be left r stred n the bus. Drivers and schl persnnel will nt pen the bus during the day t retrieve items left behind. Emergency r Unexpected Changes If fr sme reasn an unexpected change in schedule ccurs, please cntact Mr. Jslin by calling his cellular phne at (904) r the schl ffice. Students must adhere t all Bishp Jhn J. Snyder High Schl plicies and the student cde f cnduct while riding the bus and at the pick-up/drp-ff lcatins. The fllwing specific guidelines must be fllwed by all bus passengers t ensure the safety f the bus and its riders: Students must shw respect t the driver at all times and shuld shw respect fr fellw students; Students must remain seated at all times [SAFETY]. Mr. McIntire may assign seats as necessary; Students are allwed t talk; hwever, they must keep their vices lw s as nt t distract the driver; Hrseplay r ther inapprpriate behavir will nt be tlerated n the bus [SAFETY]; Small snack items (i.e. breakfast bars, etc.) and bttled water are allwed n the bus. Hwever, if fd, drink, and/r debris are left n the bus r if there is any prblem with this plicy, the privilege may be mdified r revked at the discretin f the driver and the dean f students; Students are respnsible fr the cleanliness f their seat areas and must dispse f trash upn each departure frm the bus; Students may nt thrw r tss items t ne anther and must keep all persnal items with them at all times [SAFETY]. Students will be instructed n hw t secure their persnal belngings safely t prevent any mishaps shuld the bus have t make a sudden stp; Students may nt cmmunicate with any persn r vehicle utside f the bus [SAFETY]; Students may nt pen the windws n the bus [SAFETY]. Nte: The Bishp Snyder dress cde applies n the bus and at the pick-up/drp-ff lcatins. Disciplinary Actin Any student wh vilates the Bishp Snyder Cde f Cnduct r the plicies f the Bus Transprtatin Prgram will receive disciplinary cnsequences. Minr ffenses may result in either a 10 minute bus detentin * r a standard Central Detentin, issued by the Dean f Students. Safety vilatins, hwever, will result in a Saturday Schl upn the first ffense r may result in mre serius cnsequences depending n the nature r the ffense. Cntinued cnduct vilatins, especially thse that endanger the safety f the bus and its ccupants, will result in either a suspensin frm the bus and/r expulsin frm the prgram and terminatin f the transprtatin cntract in additin t any disciplinary cnsequences issued by the Dean f Students. 7 Safety and Emergency Prcedures Each student will be instructed n the bus safety and emergency prcedures. Fire exits are clearly marked and their peratin will be demnstrated t all students. Furthermre, an emergency evacuatin drill and verview f emergency prcedures will be cnducted twice during the schl year, nce per semester. It is the respnsibility f each student riding the bus t ensure the safety f everyne else. This is accmplished by fllwing all rules and regulatins as well as abiding by the bus safety prcedures. Vilatins f specific safety prcedures as described in this handbk will result in a Saturday Schl. Shuld there be any type f emergency, the Bus Transprtatin Prgram has specific prcedures in place t ensure the safety and security f each student. Cntact and Emergency Infrmatin fr Students Parents are respnsible fr supplying Bishp Jhn J. Snyder High Schl and the bus prgram with any changes t the fllwing infrmatin that is kept n file and infrmatin that is necessary fr emergency and safety purpses: Cntact Infrmatin, including telephne number changes (please prvide as many cntact numbers as pssible, i.e. hme, wrk, cellular); Medical r Health changes; Authrized adults designated t claim a student; Student Cellular Phne Numbers * * Student and parent cell phne numbers are requested s that they may be kept n file in case f an emergency change f schedule (i.e. bus mechanical prblems). Student Parking Thse students wh wish t park at any f ur pick-up/drp-ff lcatins and ride the bus t schl frm there must first btain permissin frm the individual parish r establishment.
