8 8I9 INTORQ I BFK470 sprig-applied brake mm 50 Fuctioal priciple B BFK470 sprig-applied brake BFK470 sprig-applied brakes are sigle-disk brakes with two frictio surfaces. Whe deeergised, several sprigs are used to geerate D the brakig torque through frictio lockig. The brake is released electromagetically. Durig brakig, the sprigs use the armature plate to E press the rotor (which ca be shifted axially o the hub) agaist the couter frictio face. Whe the brakes are applied, a air gap S L is preset betwee the armature plate ad the stator. The F stator's coil is eergised with D voltage i order to release the brake. The resultig magetic flux works agaist the sprig force to draw the armature plate to the stator. This releases G the rotor from the sprig force ad allows it to rotate freely. 9 haracteristic torques Geeral iformatio INTORQ brakes are dimesioed so that the specified characteristic torques ca usually be achieved reliably after a short ruig-i period. However, as the orgaic frictio liigs used do ot all have idetical properties ad because evirometal coditios ca vary, deviatios from the specified brakig torques are possible. These must be take ito accout i the form of appropriate dimesioig toleraces. Icreased breakaway torque is commo i particular after log dowtimes i humid eviromets where temperatures vary. If the brake is beig used o frictio surfaces provided by the customer, the characteristic torque must be checked. If the brake is to be used solely as a holdig brake without dyamic load, the frictio liig must be reactivated at regular itervals. The specified operatig frequecy S h results i the permissible switchig eergy Q smax. Higher speed ad switchig eergy values icrease wear, because the frictio surfaces are briefly subjected to very high temperatures. The frictio eergy that ca be withstood up to the wear limit of the brake is depedet o a umber of factors: i particular, the iertias to be braked, the brakig speed, the operatig frequecy ad the resultig temperature o the frictio surfaces. I additio, icreased wear should be expected with a vertical brake shaft. Where the amout of frictio eergy per switchig operatio is low, the brake's mechaical compoets ca impose limitatios i terms of service life. I particular, the rotor/hub coectio, sprigs, armature plate ad cylidrical pis are subject to operatioal wear. The expected service life of the stadard desig is aroud 1 millio load alteratios. Solutios that are optimised i terms of service life are available i cases where a loger service life is required (cosult the maufacturer). Maiteace Brakes are compoets which are subject to a great deal of wear. Whe istallig the brake, it must be esured that it ca be easily accessed for ispectio ad maiteace purposes.
