5 GENERAL Introducton Ths servce manual s part of the nstructons and contans the techncal nformaton for servcng, confgurng and reparng a küschall wheelchar. WARNING! Danger of accdent and severe njures. If the wheelchar s mproperly set t can cause accdents and severe njures. Changes to the wheelchar may only be carred out by the provder. To guarantee the requred safety and relablty, all wheelchars must be comprehensvely checked once a year. In part, assembly and adjustment requre extensve experence. For ths reason, the followng assembly nstructons have been splt nto three categores: Requrement Easy techncal understandng requred Intermedate specalst knowledge requred Dffcult specalst wheelchar assembly knowledge and experence requred Symbol The requred tools and ther respectve szes are lsted above each nstructon. The nstructons nclude nformaton on the torques wth whch the respectve screw connectons must be tghtened. Adherng to the gven torques requres the use of a torque spanner. Tools Symbol Allen key à 3, 4, 5 Phllps screwdrver Ò Straddle spanner 0,, 9 Socket spanner/rng spanner 8, 0 Spare parts and adaptatons All spare parts can be purchased from Invacare Customer Servces. An electronc spare parts catalog s avalable by loggng onto www. kuschall.com. Only orgnal spare parts may be used. Installng addtonal adaptatons to a küschall wheelchar requres the pror wrtten approval of Invacare Corporaton. Tghtenng Allen screws Allen keys are not desgned for greater forces. When tghtenng or loosenng an Allen screw, t s therefore advsable to apply force to the nut to prevent the hexagon socket from beng damaged. Tghtenng and loosenng Turn the nut wth a socket spanner (only use a straddle spanner f there s nsuffcent space) and merely hold the screw tght wth the Allen key. 5

6 Tghtenng and loosenng f there s no nut If an Allen screw s drectly screwed nto a screw thread, the screw must be tghtened usng an Allen key. Torque Ensure that the Allen key s of good qualty and not worn. All screw connectons must be tghtened wth the torques specfed n the followng nstructons. Checks Vsual check Check all components for cracks, especally the areas around jonts and welded seams. Checkng the screw connectons Check all bolts wth the torques specfed n the nstructons regularly, and adjust f requred. CAUTION! Several screw connectons have been secured wth thread lockng adhesve. If these are opened, they must be secured agan usng new thread lockng adhesve. Lqud hgh-strength and low-strength adhesves are avalable. For torque entres notce shall be made whether an adhesve and whch adhesve needs to be used. 9 SEAT SEAT Seat wdth (SB) Avalable seat wdths: SB 30 to 500 n 0 mm steps. Changng the seat wdth s very complcated and requres the replacement of numerous parts. Seat depth (ST) Avalable seat depths: ST 350 to 55 n 5 mm steps. Changng the seat depth requres the replacement of the complete seat module ncludng the seat cover and the seat ral and potentally also the seat cushon. Front seat heght (SHv) The front seat heght s dependent on several factors that nteract wth each other. The sze of the rear wheels determnes the heght of the sub-structure. In addton to the sze and the postonng of the brackets on the seat module, the frame, seat depth and rear seat heght nfluence the seat heght. 90 / short 75 / short A B C D E F 6'' 5'' 4'' 3'' 4'' 5'' Rear wheel Possble front and rear wheel combnatons Frame 3'' 4'' 5'' 75 short F E D 75 / / 90 short D C B 90 / B A short -- F E 75 / / 90 short E D C 90 / C B / F E D 90 / D C B Only select combnatons lsted n the Table to ensure that the frame s straght and the front wheel supports are perpendcular to the ground. 9

10 SEAT If the rear wheel, front wheel and front wheel fork are defned, the front seat heght can be adjusted by changng the poston of the seat module wthn the frame. If you requre a new bracket, remove the screws E, F and H, replace the bracket D and fx t to the seat module and cross brace G usng the screws E, F and H. Reft the rear wheels, stand the wheelchar back up and check the poston of the seat braces C. Tghten the screw connectons A and B of the seat braces and E and F of the front brackets agan. Carry out the same settng on both sdes. Note: ensure that adjustng the front seat heght results n a change to the seat angle. 11 SEAT Rear seat heght (SHh) The seat braces can be repostoned to adjust the rear seat heght. The seat braces are avalable n three dfferent szes, coverng seat heghts of between 380 and 500 mm. Generally, we recommend fxng the seat braces to the lower hole on the frame. Rear seat heght based on wheel poston and wheel sze Adjustng the rear seat heght (SHh) Dffculty: Tools: Ã 5 0 Remove the rear wheels, fold the backrest forward and place the wheelchar on ts back. Loosen the screws A for the front bracket on both sdes. If you can set the desred seat heght usng the exstng seat brace B, loosen the screw C and remove screw and washer D and the connectng bar E. If you requre a new seat brace, remove the exstng one and the connectng bar E and loosely fx the new seat brace wth spacer F, washer and nut to the frame usng screw C. Slde the seat brace aganst the rear bracket G so that the requred holes overlap. Note: ensure that adjustng the rear seat heght results n a change to the seat angle. It may be necessary to correspondngly adjust the front seat heght (SHv) or the backrest angle. Insert the connectng bar E and fx t wth screw D. Carry out the same settng on both sdes. Carry out the same settng on both sdes. By tghtenng or loosenng the screws G you can adjust how easly the mudguard can be pulled out or pushed n. If the wheelchar s equpped wth a suspenson, the dstance between the mudguard and the wheel must be at least 40 mm. The exstng axle may not be suffcently long for the new confguraton wth mudguard. In ths case, a longer axle must be ftted. Changng the wheel camber / fttng and adjustng an axle The dstance between the mudguard and the wheel must be ether < 8 mm or > 5 mm to prevent fngers from becomng caught between the wheel and the mudguard.
