51 How do you choose your variety? Yield is important but it is not the only factor 51
52 How do you choose your variety? Market you may not have a choice for a premium contract Straw strength how comfortable will you be in mid summer storms? What value do you put on disease resistance? Septoria is the main concern due to reduced fungicide efficacy Don t forget about mildew and rust. Controlling the controllable diseases costs money too The diseases are always working on a way round varietal resistance, it can breakdown in one season, so walk your crops Grain Quality sprouting, kph, If you don t have a choice, use the RL info to tailor your agronomy An Roinn Talmhaíochta, Bia agus Mara Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine 52
