Produt Desription Loadenters are enlosures speifially designed to house the branh iruit breakers and wiring required to distribute power to individual iruits. They ontain either a main breaker when used at the servie entrane point or a main lug when used as a sub-panel to add iruits to existing servie. The main breaker protets the main entire panel and an be used as a servie disonnet. The branh breakers protet the wires leading to individual eletrial loads suh as fixtures and outlets. Features, enefits and Funtions Loadenter Constrution Eaton s CH loadenters feature silver flash plated opper bus in all interiors. Fingers are rated 200 throughout the CH line. Therefore, the sum of the handle ratings onneted to any one stab is limited to 200 maximum. NEM boxes are manufatured from old rolled 6 gauge sheet steel. Raintight boxes are manufatured from galvanized steel. ll boxes and trims are finished using an eletrostati powder oat, baked urethane paint proess. Neutrals Eaton s CH loadenters feature three types of neutrals: Fatory-onded Split Neutral Single-phase main iruit breaker panels are supplied with a fatory-bonded twin neutral. When used as a subpanel, the bonding strap should be removed, and the bonding srew should be reinstalled. The bonded side is now the ground, and the un-bonded side is the neutral. When used as a servie entrane panel, the unused neutral holes on either side may be used for terminating ground wires. Insulated Split Neutral Most single-phase main lug panels (2 iruits and greater) are supplied with a twin neutral with an insulated ross strap. These panels are shipped in an un-bonded state. For servie entrane appliations, the neutral must be bonded utilizing the bonding strap supplied with the panel. For sub-feed appliations, the panel may be installed as is. Separate ground bars are provided on these panels. Insulated/ondable Single Neutral When a panel is supplied with a single neutral, it arrives from the fatory in an unbonded state. ll that is required to bond the neutral in a servie entrane appliation is to loosen the bonding srew and the neutral srew diretly beside it, insert the bonding strap into the neutral bar, and re-tighten both onnetions. The single neutral an be moved by the ontrator to the other side of the panel, if desired. In a servie entrane appliation, where the neutral is bonded, unused neutral onnetions may be used for the termination of equipment grounds. Inboard Plug-On Neutral Code hanges and higher safety standards are leading to more ar fault iruit interrupter (FCI) installations. With the eletrial ontrator in mind, Eaton has revolutionized the way Combination FCIs are installed with the Plug-on Neutral line of loadenters and breakers. This unique produt solution enables the ontrator to onnet the breaker diretly to the neutral bar, eliminating the need for wiring a pigtail. Grounds In servie entrane appliations where the neutral is bonded, unused neutral holes may be used for terminating ground ondutors. In sub-feed panels, the neutral must be isolated (non-bonded), and ground wires must be terminated on a separate ground bar. The Fatory-onded Split Neutral panels have suffiient terminations for both ground and neutral ondutors. The Insulated Split Neutral panels are supplied with a separate fatory-installed ground bar. Insulated/ondable Single Neutral panels are supplied without a ground bar (unless otherwise noted), and ground bar kits if needed must be purhased separately. Neutral and Ground Terminals The standard terminals on grounds and neutrals are rated to aept (3) #4 #0 Cu/l or () #4 4 wires. For larger ables, add-on neutral lugs may be ordered from the essories on Page 25. Refer to NEC rtile Fire Due to the numerous openings in both loadenter boxes and trims, they should not be mounted in firewalls. There is no approval method for sealing the enlosures for this appliation. Date Code The date of manufature of eah loadenter is printed on the outside of the arton as well as inside the loadenter. On the arton, the date ode is printed on the end arton label. In the loadenter, the date ode is loated on the small white label loated on the right side wall (with the main devie on top). The date ode is in the following format: F # # # &. The F is the numeri ode for the Linoln, IL plant, and the three numbers are the year and week of manufature e.g., 023. The & sign at the end signifies the deade of the 2000s. Therefore, the date ode F023& would indiate that the produt was manufatured in the 23rd week of The 980s are represented by a + sign and the 990s are represented by a = at the end of the ode. Plug-On CH reakers Quik-make, quik-break swith mehanism ombined with inverse time element tripping operation and tripfree handle design. CH iruit breakers trip to the OFF position eliminating nuisane allbaks. The thermal-magneti trip urve avoids nuisane tripping on mild overloads while reating almost instantaneously to severe short-iruit onditions. Multipole breakers have internal ommon trip onnetion to operate all poles simultaneously. Handles are marked with ON-OFF indiation and ampere rating of the breaker. CH breakers meet UL Standard 489, NEM standards, and Federal Spe Classifiation W-C 375 b/gen. They are UL listed under File E73, E874, E3624 and E5287: and CS ertified file number LR8796, exept CHT breakers. CH Ciruit reaker s Single- and double-pole CH breakers rated 5 and 20 have low instantaneous magneti trip levels. The 5 and 20 breakers with HM suffix have high magneti trip settings reommended for iruits with inherently high inrush urrents. ll CH breakers are marked for heating, air onditioning and refrigeration (HCR) equipment appliation. Single-pole 5 20 breakers are also suitable for swithing duty (SWD). Shunt trip oils operate on 20 Va and require one additional pole spae per breaker. They ontain either a main breaker when used at the servie entrane point or a main lug when used as a sub-panel to add iruits to existing servie. The main breaker protets the main entire panel and an be used as a servie disonnet. The branh breakers protet the wires leading to individual eletrial loads suh as fixtures and outlets. Features, enefits and Funtions Loadenter Constrution Eaton s R loadenters have standard tin-plated aluminum bus with a limited availability of opper bus. The sum of the handle ratings onneted to any stab is limited to 50 maximum on the 00 and 25 loadenters, and 200 on loadenters with 50 or higher main bus. NEM boxes or enlosures are manufatured from galvanized steel. Raintight boxes are manufatured from galvanized steel, then finished using an eletrostati powder oat, baked urethane paint proess. Neutrals Eaton s R loadenters feature three types of neutrals: Insulated/ondable Single/ Split Neutral Panels are supplied with an insulated neutral and a bonded ground. For servie entrane appliations, the insulated neutral must be bonded utilizing the bonding strap supplied with the panel. When used as a servie entrane panel, the bonded ground may be used as a neutral and/or ground, unused neutral holes on either side may be used for termination of equipment grounds. For non-servie entrane (sub-panel) appliations, the panel may be installed with bonding strap not onneted to the neutral (the bonded ground must be used as a ground only). Insulated/ondable Single Neutral Panels are supplied with a single insulated neutral. For servie entrane appliations, all that is required to bond the neutral is to loosen the bonding srew and the neutral srew diretly beside it, insert the bonding strap into the neutral bar, and retighten both onnetions. The single neutral an be moved by the ontrator to the other side of the panel, if desired. When used as a servie entrane panel, unused neutral onnetions may be used for the termination of equipment grounds. For nonservie entrane (sub-panel). Insulated/ondable Split Neutral Panels are supplied with twin insulated neutrals with an insulated ross strap. For servie entrane appliations, the neutral must be bonded utilizing the bonding strap supplied with the panel. For non-servie entrane (subpanel) appliations, the panel may be installed with bonding strap not onneted to the neutral. Separate ground bars must be used on non-servie entrane panels. Grounds In servie entrane appliations where the neutral is bonded, unused neutral holes may be used for terminating ground ondutors. In sub-feed panels, the neutral must be isolated (non-bonded), and ground wires must be terminated on a separate ground bar. The insulated/bondable single/split neutral panels have suffiient terminations for both ground and neutral ondutors. The insulated/ bondable single split neutral panels are supplied with a separate fatory-installed ground bar if the atalog number ontains a G. If not, a separate ground bar should be installed. Insulated/ ondable Single Neutral panels are supplied without a ground bar (unless otherwise noted), and ground bar kits if needed must be purhased separately. Neutral and Ground Terminals The standard terminals on grounds and neutrals are rated to aept (3) #4 #0 Cu/l or () #4 4, provided the ables terminated are of the same material. Therefore, gutter spliing of riser ables to tap off to the main devie is not permitted. Refer to NEC 2008 rtile Fire Due to the numerous openings in both loadenter boxes and trims, they should not be mounted in firewalls. There is no approved method for sealing the enlosures for this appliation. Date Code The date of manufature of eah loadenter is printed on the outside of the arton as well as inside the loadenter. On the arton, the date ode is printed on the end arton label. In the loadenter, the date ode is loated on the small white label loated on the right side wall (with the main devie on top). The date ode is in the following format: F # # # &. The F is the numeri ode for the Linoln, IL plant, and the three numbers are the year and week of manufaturing, e.g., 023. The! sign at the end signifies the deade of the 200. Therefore, the date ode F023& would indiate that the produt was manufatured in the 23rd week of 200. The 980s are represented by the + sign and the 990s are represented by a = at the end of the ode. C. The deadfront shall have an easy adjustment feature for flush appliations. D. oxes shall be fatory assembled into a single rigid struture. E. Unless otherwise noted on drawings, hinged doors overing all iruit breaker handles shall be inluded in all trims. Trim doors shall not unover any live parts in making the iruit breaker handles aessible. If key loks are required, all loks shall be keyed alike. F. Combination trims for flush and surfae panels shall be flat and shall overlap the box by at least 5/8-inh (5.9 mm) all around. These panels are used in the onstrution of assisted living homes, dormitories, publi housing omplexes and apartments. Eaton offers three 25 and one 200 main lug riser panels, a 2/24 and a 20/24, 20/30 and 30/40. OEM interiors are UL reognized omponents and are listed in either of the following UL files: E874 or E The CH interiors feature 00% opper bus and use the CH 3/4-inh (9. mm) wide iruit breaker, whih minimizes panel spae. Reognized by ontrators for its sturdy design, the CH interior will appeal to those ustomers seeking an industrial quality bolted bus bar and the spae saving of 3/4-inh (9. mm) per bus stab. With a typial 2 iruit CH interior, this spae savings amounts to an inh and a half savings over its -inh (25.4 mm) ounterparts. The stab rating of the CH interiors is 40 maximum meaning that the handle rating of breakers mounted aross from one another may not exeed 40. The R interiors are manufatured of formed, plated aluminum or opper, and use Eaton s R -inh (25.4 mm) wide iruit breaker. This design affords ustomers the most iruit flexibility as many of these interiors allow the installation of standard single- and two-pole breakers as well as duplex (two poles in a -inh (25.4 mm) spae) or quadplex (four poles in a 2-inh (50.8 mm) spae) breakers. The stab rating of the R interiors is 200 maximum, meaning that the handle rating of the breakers that are mounted aross from one another may not exeed 200. The interiors are designed for either horizontal (singlerow breaker mounting), or vertial (double-row breaker mounting). To omply with National Eletrial Code (NEC) requirements, if mounted horizontally, when the breaker is ON, the handle should be in the UP position. These breakers are lassified as diret replaements by Underwriters Laboratories. In addition to a UL listing, they also ome with a 5-year warranty. Speified vs. UL Classified Speified breakers are listed by the manufaturer of the panelboard for use in a partiular panel. This doesn t mean that the panelboard manufaturer produed the speified breaker; it merely means that the panelboard manufaturer has tested the breaker in the panel. In fat, through the years, Eaton has manufatured thousands of breakers for other panelboard manufaturers.
