1 DGC-1 DGTAL GENSET CONTROLLER Basler Eletri's Digital Genset Controller (DGC-1) offers a low ost miroproessor based integrated alternative for the ontrol and monitoring of small to medium sized gensets. Control inludes engine starting and shutdown as well as system monitoring and remote annuniation. DGC allows user inputs and programming to provide a reliable, ustomizable genset ontroller. This unique design has features not found in any ompetitive models. t monitors and displays eight engine and generator parameters on the front panel and up to a total of 28 parameters via the front panel srolling feature. The DGC-1 offers the most flexible design possible. t has user-definable alarms, pre-alarms, timers, ranking, sender inputs, J1939 engine ommuniations, programmable inputs and outputs with the optional Auxiliary 1/ feature and an on-board modem for external ommuniations from virtually anywhere. 2 DGC-1 DESCRPTON DGC-1 Digital Genset Controller utilizes miroproessor based tehnology to provide a versatile system for genset ontrol, protetion and monitoring. This miroproessor design allows ustomization of the ontroller's funtions to fit virtually every appliation's needs. DGC-1 has onventional engine sender inputs. These an be ustomized via the BESTCOMS PC software to allow virtually any sender to be used. t is also possible for the user to get the engine information from the engine ontrol module and use CAN BUS, SAE J1939. This saves money and time normally spent on buying and installing senders and mag pikups. DGC-1 offers an optional dial-out modem to announe alarms and pre-alarms to a omputer or pager. There is also an optional auxiliary 1/ module that allows for four more ontat inputs and eight Form C outputs. Optional features enable the user to meet the requirements of NFPA-11 Level 1 for non-air damper equipped engines. The DGC-1 may be programmed via the provided Windows 95/98/NT software. This software permits individual parameter setting or omplete file transfers from a personal omputer to the DGC-1 for fast, aurate setup of the DGC-1. J1939 CANBUS ommuniations allows the DGC-1 to ommuniate to the engine's ECM to gather information about the engine, i.e. oil pressure, engine oolant temperature, RPM, battery voltage and many more. By using the ECM, onventional mehanial senders are no longer required. This an save substantial money in installation and purhasing of the senders. t also removes any errors between the information displayed between the ECM and DGC-1 that may be present due to inauraies in the senders. The DGC-1 also has an RS-485 port for four-wire ommuniations to the RDP-11 remote display unit. This unit may be plaed 4 feet from the DGC-1 and provides NFPA-11 (for non-air damper equipped engines) ompatible annuniation of 17 operating and alarm indiations with only four wires. DGC-1 www. 7 OPTONAL EQUPMENT Additional 1/ (nput/output) For those appliations where more input and output ontats are needed to ustomize the DGC-1 to the appliation, Basler offers an additional ard that has four inputs and eight output ontats. These ontats may be assigned for the partiular desired funtion by using the PC software to label the inputs so the front panel L displays the proper message and the outputs an be easily programmed for any desired outome. Dial out modems Basler Eletri offers two modem boards for use with the DGC-1 for dial out apability to inform a pager that an alarm or pre-alarm has ourred with the DGC- 1. Up to four phone numbers an be dialed and will be alled in sequene until an answer is reeived. The modems ome in two operating temperature ranges. The standard modem is rated from oo to +5 C, and the extended operating temperature range devie will aommodate temperatures from -4 C to +7 C. Please see the style hart for ordering information. Enhaned Communiations This enhaned ommuniations option allows the user to have advaned ommuniations with the DGC- 1. This option provides all of the standard PC software features found in all of Basler's BESTCOMS software, i.e. fast and easy set-up of all system onfigurations, alarms, pre-alarms, 1/ onfiguration and modem set-up, and muh more. t provides enhaned PC ommuniation by providing remote start-stop ontrol of the genset, remote viewing of faults, remote resetting of faults, and remote metering of the engine/generator parameters, 28 in all, of the DGC-1. The remote PC monitoring of the DGC- 1 requires the internal modem option and allows the user the dial-in and dial-out apability normally found in only the most expensive ontrollers. t does this while utilizing the innovative low ost, easy to operate and install DGC-1 pakage. ORDERNG NFORMATON Audible Alarm Horn, Basler P/N 2976 An audible alarm horn is available that is rated at 8db from 2 feet {.6 meters) to provide an audible alarm indiation to meet NFPA-11. This horn is remotely mounted from the DGC-1 and an be ordered by speifying Basler Part Number Remote Annuniation Display Panel Appliations and speifiations requiring remote annuniation an be satisfied by using Basler's Remote Display Panel, RDP-11. Request produt bulletin SNE for Remote Display Panel, RDP-11 o. The panel needs only four wires to annuniate all the alarms, pre-alarms and operating onditions of the DGC-1. This produt meets the requirements of NFPA-11 for non-air damper equipped engines. Vibration solated Enlosure DGC-1 an be mounted in an optional two-piee metal enlosure that has four vibration isolators installed. Basler an also ustomize this enlosure to your speifi needs, adding terminal strips or abling for ustomer interonnetion, alarm horns, emergeny stop buttons, et. SAMPLE SPECFCATON The engine generator ontrol system shall be a miroproessor based design that inorporates both engine ontrol and monitoring of the engine and generator and displays these monitored quantities on a front panel L display.
