Adjustable output urrent 3.5. Adjustable output urrent, voltage and power LCA PRE and LC EXC allow for different ombinations of power and urrent based on the standard lumen pakages available on the market Output urrent All the layers over different output urrents. PRE: Adjustable values Adjustable via resistor, I-selet 2 plug, DALI / masterconfigurator, ready2mains EXC: Adjustable values Adjustable via resistor, I-selet 2 plug, ready2mains Adjustment of the output urrent via different resistane values The output urrent of the LED ontrol gear an be hanged by setting different resistanes.the resistane values are taken from the E96 series. Unlike DALI and ready2mains whih do not generate additional toleranes in the output urrent, toleranes are higher when using I-selet 2 plugs. Adjustment of the output urrent via I-selet 2 plugs By inserting a suitable resistor into the I-selet 2 interfae, the urrent value an be adjusted. The relationship between output urrent and resistor value looks like this: R [kω] = 5 V / I_out [ma] x 1,000 Resistor value tolerane 1 %; resistor power 0.1 W; base isolation neessary If the resistor is onneted by wires a onsistent base isolation must be ensured. Furthermore, a max. wire length of 2 m must not be exeeded. Potential interferenes have to be avoided beause they an ause additional tolerane to the output urrent. To ensure no influene of interferenes on the resistor value use shielded wires to onnet the I-selet 2 plug. GND of shielded wire must be onneted to the oresponding I-selet 2 plug terminal marked with GND in the datasheet. LED modules with on-board I-selet 2 resistors may ause irreparable damages, aused by surge / burst peaks. Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 13 54

Installation notes 5. Installation notes I NOTICE The abling, wiring and mounting for a LED driver varies depending on the design and manufaturer of the LED module. The following desription should therefore not be viewed as omprehensive installation instrutions but merely as important general information. To obtain further information, proeed as follows: Read the doumentation provided by the lamp manufaturer. Follow the guidelines and instrutions of the lamp manufaturer! Observe all relevant standards. Follow the instrutions given in the standards! 5.1. Safety information ½ WARNING! Comply with the general safety instrutions (see hapter "Safety instrutions")! To avoid failures due to ground faults protet the wiring against mehanial loads from sharp-edged metal parts (e.g. able penetrations, able holders, metal frames, et. Eletroni ontrol gear from Tridoni are proteted for a maximum of 48 hour against overvoltage of up to 320 V. Make sure that the ontrol gear is not exposed to overvoltages for long periods! Eletroni ontrol gear LCA PRE, LC EXC from Tridoni have type of protetion IP 20. Comply with the requirements for this type of protetion!... Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 25 54

Installation notes 5.2. Funtion of the earth terminal The earth onnetion is onduted as protetion earth (PE). The LED Driver an be earthed via earth terminal or metal housing (if devie has metal housing). If the LED Driver will be earthed, protetion earth (PE) has to be used. There is no earth onnetion required for the funtionality of the LED Driver. Earth onnetion is reommended to improve following behaviour. Eletromagneti interferenes (EMI) LED glowing at standby Transmission of mains transients to the LED output In general it is reommended to earth the LED Driver if the LED module is mounted on earthed luminaire parts respetively heat sinks and thereby representing a high apaity against earth Avoiding residual LED glow on standby Residual LED glow on standby may our as a result of apaitive leakage urrents from the LED module onto earthed luminaire parts (suh as the heat sink). This mainly affets high-effiieny LED systems with large surfae areas installed in luminaires with protetion lass 1. The topology has been improved so that residual LED glow an be virtually eliminated by earthing the devies. I NOTICE If the LED driver annot be earthed or if earthing is not desired, residual LED glow an be minimised by adequate insulation (for example by using heat-onduting double-sided insulation foil) Avoiding the transfer of mains transients to the LED output The transfer of mains transients to the LED output presents a problem for many LED driver topologies urrently on the market, and TRIDONIC devies may be affeted. Voltage peaks at the input of the LED driver may be transferred to the output of the devie where they lead to differenes in potential between the LED output and earthed luminaire parts. These differenes in potential may result in flashovers if the insulation is inadequate or if the reepage and learane distanes are too small. Flashovers will ause the LED module to fail. Earthing the LED driver attenuates voltage peaks and redues the likelihood of flashovers. The preise degree of attenuation depends on the apaitane of the LED module with respet to earth. If voltages at the output are higher than 0.5 kv, it is mentioned in the data sheet. Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 26 54

Installation notes Figure: Voltage peaks for LED driver without earthing (left) and with earthing (right) I NOTICE Irrespetive of whether the LED driver is earthed or not, LED modules must be insulated in aordane with the requirements of the luminaire protetion lass. Improved insulation of the LED module an also redue the likelihood of flashovers.... Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 27 54

Installation notes 5.3. Routing the wires Tests I NOTICE The performane of the presribed tests and ompliane with relevant standards are the responsibility of the luminaire manufaturer. The following desriptions merely indiate the most important tests and are no substitute for a full researh of the relevant standards Insulation and dieletri strength testing of luminaires LED driver for lamps are sensitive to high-voltage transients. This must be taken into onsideration when subjeting luminaires to routine testing during manufature. Aording to IEC Annex Q (for information only!) and ENEC 303-Annex A, eah luminaire should be subjeted to an insulation test for 1 seond at 500 V DC. The test voltage is applied between the linked phase/neutral ondutor terminal and the protetive earth terminal. The insulation resistane must be at least 2 MOhm. As an alternative to measuring the insulation resistane, IEC Annex Q desribes a dieletri strength test at 1500 V AC (or x 1,500 V DC). To avoid damaging eletroni ontrol gear, this dieletri strength test should be performed exlusively for type testing. This test should ertainly not be used for routine testing. I NOTICE Tridoni reommends performing an insulation test beause a dieletri strength test may damage the devie irreparably Type testing Type testing of the luminaire is performed aording to IEC Setion 10. The wiring for protetion lass 1 luminaires is tested at a voltage of 2xU + 1,000 V. In order not to overload the ontrol gear all the inputs and outputs of the ontrol gear are onneted to one another. U out is used for measuring the voltage for luminaires with ontrol gear with U out > 250 V: For U out 480 V the voltage for the type test is 2000 V. (Routine testing is always performed at 500 V DC) Wiring I NOTICE The wiring proedure is devie speifi. Further information about wiring, wire ross setions and the length of stripped off insulation an be found in the data sheet. Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 28 54

Installation notes Wiring guidelines The ables should be run separately from the mains onnetions and mains ables to ensure good EMC onditions. The LED wiring should be kept as short as possible to ensure good EMC. The max. seondary able length is 2 m (4 m iruit), this applies for LED output as well as for I-selet and temperature sensor. Depending on the design of the luminaire it may be possible to improve the radio interferene properties by earthing the devie at the earth onnetion. The LED driver has no inverse-polarity protetion on the seondary side. Wrong polarity an damage LED modules with no inverse-polarity protetion. Wiring the plug-in terminal Use solid wire or stranded wire with the orret ross-setion Strip off orret length of insulation; you may need to twist the tool slightly If stranded wire is used: push onto the terminal from above to be able to insert the wire Insert the bare end into the terminal Detahing the plug-in terminal Push onto the terminal from above to release the wire Pull out the wire at the front... 30 Installation notes 5.4. Maximum loading of iruit breakers Importane of maximum loading A iruit breaker is an automatially operated eletrial swith that protets an eletrial iruit from damage aused by overload or short iruit. Unlike a fuse that must be replaed if it triggers, a iruit breaker an be reset (either manually or automatially) and used further. Ciruit breakers are available in different sizes and with different tehnial data. The inrush urrent is a short inreased peak urrent that ours when an eletroni ontrol gear is swithed on. In eletrial installations, numerous ontrol gear are onneted to one iruit breaker. The maximum loading of a iruit breaker indiates how many ontrol gear an be onneted to the iruit breaker without triggering the iruit breaker beause of the summation of the different inrush urrents. The value is alulated through simulation programs based on the iruit breakers harateristi. Information about the maximum loading an be found in Tridoni data sheets. 31 Installation notes The ombination of both parameters an also be displayed graphially. This results in the tripping harateristi for a ertain iruit breaker. Current [A] Duration [μs] I NOTICE Information about the speifi tripping harateristis of a iruit breaker must be requested from the respetive manufaturer! Calulation of the inrush urrent The inrush urrent of a ontrol gear is also defined by its duration and its height. The duration is typially measured as the time between 10% of maximum urrent (asending) and 50% of maximum urrent (desending). The following illustration shows the inrush urrent of a single ontrol gear: Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 31 54

Installation notes If several ontrol gear are onneted to one iruit breaker, the individual inrush urrents add up. Implementation of the simulation The above-mentioned parameters, height and duration of the urrent pulse in both the iruit breaker and the ontrol gear, are entered into the simulation program. The result of the simulation is presented in graphial form. The different elements have the following meaning: Ciruit breaker: B10, B13, B16, B20 (solid line) represent the tripping harateristis of different iruit breakers. Inrush urrent: The dotted lines represent different inrush urrents. The index of a point signifies the number of ontrol gear, that is, point 1 represents the result for 1 ballast, point 2 the result for 2 ballasts, et. Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 32 54

Installation notes The simulation results an be read as follows: The rossing of the two lines shows the maximum value for the seleted ombination of iruit breaker and inrush urrent. The index of the point at this maximum value shows the max. number of ballasts. The following example shows the maximum number of ontrol gear at four different iruit breakers: max. 5 devies at iruit breaker B10 (green tripping harateristi) max. 7 devies at iruit breaker B13 (pink tripping harateristi) max. 9 devies at iruit breaker B16 (red tripping harateristi) max. 12 devies at iruit breaker B20 (blue tripping harateristi) I NOTICE The results of different simulations an only be ompared if all of the relevant fators are the same. The following points an influene the results: Tripping harateristi used for the iruit breakers Definition used for the duration of the inrush urrent (Tridoni: %) Gear used for the measurement of the inrush urrent (espeially important: Whih eletrolyti apaitor is installed in the ontrol gear?) Considering a safety buffer (Tridoni: +20 % for the eletrolyti apaitor ) Considering different system impedanes Swith-on point used: should always be at max. input voltage Adopted able lengths and able data (Tridoni: Cable length 40 m; Resistivity: ohm * mm2 / m; indutane: 5nH / m; terminal resistane: 2mOhm) The modeling of the ontrol gear is performed from the input to the bus voltage eletrolyti apaitor. 34 Funtions 6. Funtions 6.1. orridorfunction V2 (PRE) Desription The orridorfunction enables the illuminane to be linked to the presene or absene of people. A onventional relay motion sensor is onneted. The luminous intensity is inreased when a person enters the room. When the person leaves the room the motion sensor swithes off after a ertain delay and the luminous intensity is automatially redued. The orridorfunction is partiularly benefiial in appliations in whih light is needed round the lok for safety reasons, for example in publi buildings, large apartment omplexes, ar parks, pedestrian underpasses and underground railway stations. Sine the luminous intensity only has to be inreased when there is a demand for light the orridorfunction offers effetive lighting management and helps saving energy and osts. Another benefit of the orridorfunction is the enhaned onveniene of automati lighting ontrol. ½ CAUTION! To ensure orret operation a sinusoidal mains voltage with a frequeny of 50 Hz or 60 Hz is required at the ontrol input. Speial attention must be paid to ahieving lear zero rossings. Serious mains faults may impair the operation of swithdim and orridorfunction. Profile settings: Standard profile for ativating via 230V on the interfae terminal DA/N - DA/L for 5 minutes is "Never off" The ontrol gear have different profiles so they an provide the best possible performane in a range of onditions. The profiles are defined by a series of values: Fade-in time: the time that starts as soon as the presene of a person is deteted. During the fade-in time the luminous intensity is faded up to the presene value (default: 0s). Run-on time: the time that starts as soon as the presene of a person is no longer deteted. If the presene of a person is deteted again during the run-on time the run-on time is restarted from zero. If no presene is deteted during the run-on time the fade time is started as soon as the run-on time expires. Fade time: the time during whih the luminous intensity is faded from the presene value to the absene value (default: 30s). Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 34 54

orridorfunction V Swith off delay: the time during whih the absene value is held before the lighting is swithed off. Depending on the profile seleted the swith-off delay may have different values or may not be defined (default: "Never Off"). Absene value: the luminous intensity when there is no person present (default: 10%). Presene value: the luminous intensity when persons are present (default: 100%). Variable swith-off times The profiles and their values an be freely adjusted. The values an be adjusted via a onnetion to a DALI bus Commissioning Ativating the orridorfunction Proedure by means of the mains voltage Ativating the orridorfunction is simple. If an a.. voltage of 230 V is applied to the digital interfae of the ontrol gear for a period of at least 5 minutes the ontrol gear detets the orridorfunction and automatially ativates it. Ativation is required only one per devie. There are three proedures for ativating by means of the mains voltage. The requirements are the same in eah ase. Requirements: The ontrol gear is orretly installed in the luminaire Input voltage is applied A motion sensor is onneted to information DA/N or DA/L Proedure Version 1: Remain in the ativation range of the motion sensor for more than 5 minutes The motion sensor detets movement and swithes on The orridorfunction is ativated automatially after 5 minutes The light value swithes to presene level (default: 100%) Proedure Version 2: Set the run-on time on the motion sensor to a value greater than 5 minutes Remain in the ativation range of the motion sensor for a short time The motion sensor detets movement and swithes on The orridorfunction is ativated automatially after 5 minutes The light value swithes to presene value (default: 100%) Reset the run-on time of the motion sensor to the required value Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 35 54

orridorfunction V2 Proedure Version 3: Only possible if the motion sensor offers a manual override option Set the slide swith on the motion sensor to the "Never-Off" funtion Wait 5 minutes The orridorfunction is ativated automatially after 5 minutes The light value swithes to presene value (default: 100%) Reset the slide swith on the motion sensor to the "automati" funtion Proedure via the masterconfigurator The orridorfunction an also be ativated via the masterconfigurator. Further information an be found in the masterconfigurator manual (see Referene list). Deativating the orridorfunction If the orridorfunction is ativated the ontrol gear is ontrolled only by motion. To operate the ontrol gear via DALI, DSI or swithdim the orridorfunction must be deativated. Proedure via mains Connet mains voltage push button to the terminal marked DA/L Connet neutral ondutor to the terminal marked DA/N Press the push button 5 times within 3 seonds Proedure via DALI/DSI Send 5 DALI or DSI ommands within 3 seonds to the ontrol gear Proedure via masterconfigurator If the orridorfunction was ativated via the masterconfigurator it an be deativated as follows: Send 5 DALI or DSI ommands within 3 seonds to the ontrol gear Adjusting the values of the orridorfunction The values of the orridorfunction an be individually adjusted. The values are set via a DALI USB on the bus and by entering speial DALI ommands via the masterconfigurator. Further information an be found in the masterconfigurator manual (see Referene list).... 37 orridorfunction V Installation Requirements: The ontrol gear is orretly installed in the luminaire and abled on the power supply side A motion sensor is installed in the lighting system The motion sensor is onneted to the ontrol gear Proedure: Connet the neutral ondutor (N) to terminal DA/N on the ontrol gear Connet the output of the motion sensor (swithed phase) to terminal DA/L on the ontrol gear Wiring versions: Benefits: Control an be hanged at any time to a digital ontrol signal (DSI or DALI) without having to hange the luminaire or provide an additional ontrol line Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 37 54

orridorfunction V2 ½ CAUTION! Use onventional relay motion sensors! Eletroni motion sensors (Tria) are not suitable beause of their tehnial design. ½ CAUTION! Do not use glow swithes! Glow swithes may affet the ontrol. ½ CAUTION! Make sure that the ontrol line (L') of the motion sensor is onneted to terminal DA/L and the neutral ondutor (N) to terminal DA/N. ½ CAUTION! For five-pole wiring the neutral ondutor must be onneted to DA/N. This prevents 400 V being applied between adjaent terminals if a different phase is used for the ontrol input. I NOTICE For large installations, supply to the ontrol gear may be split among several phases (L1, L2, L3). Any phase an be used for the ontrol input. Any number of motion sensors an be onneted in parallel.... Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 38 54

DSI 6.2. DSI (PRE) Desription DSI (Digital Serial Interfae) enables DSI ontrol gear to be ontrolled. The DSI line an be wired separately via a two-ore able or together with the mains able in a five-ore able. Communiation is not impaired by the mains able. In ontrast to DALI, there is no individual addressing of the ballasts with DSI. DSI offers a series of benefits: Expansion options via submodules, for example in ombination with daylight ontrol or additional swith modules Wiring: Simple wiring with five pole standard ables and line length of up to 250 metres Wiring: Polarity-free ontrol lines an be used for mains and ontrol lines Wiring: Multiple wiring possibilities (star, series and mixed wiring) Unaffeted by eletrial interferene Uniform light level from the first to the last light soure reverse polarity proteted onnetion: an be onneted with any polarity The main benefits of DSI are the optimisation of energy onsumption of extensive groups of luminaires (e.g. in sports stadiums and fatories) Commissioning I NOTICE If the orridorfunction is ativated the ontrol gear is ontrolled only by motion. To operate the ontrol gear via DALI, DSI or swithdim the orridorfunction must be deativated. Further information an be found in the DALI Handbook (see Referene list).... 40 swithdim 6.3. swithdim (PRE) Desription With the swithdim funtion it is possible to use the mains voltage as a ontrol signal. The phase of a simple standard mains voltage push button is onneted to the terminal marked DA/L and the neutral ondutor is onneted to the terminal marked DA/N. Using the funtion is easy and onvenient: A short press ( ms) swithes the devie on or off A long press (> 600 ms) fades the onneted operating devie alternately up and down (between 1 and 100%). swithdim is therefore a very simple form of lighting management. It also has a positive effet on material and labour osts. The devie has a swithdim memory funtion. This is used, among other things, for storing the last dimming value in the event of interruptions in the power supply. When power returns, the LED is automatially restored to its previous operating state and dimmed to the last value. ½ CAUTION! Glow swithes are not approved for ontrolling swithdim. Glow swithes may ause the ontrol gear to spontaneously swith on or off or make sudden hanges in the dimming value. ½ CAUTION! To ensure orret operation a sinusoidal mains voltage with a frequeny of 50 Hz or 60 Hz is required at the terminal. Speial attention must be paid to ahieving lear zero rossings. Serious mains faults may impair the operation of swithdim and orridorfunction. ½ CAUTIONS! A maximum number of 25 operating devies per swithdim system should not be exeeded. If you have more devies please use DALI or DSI Commissioning I NOTICE If the orridorfunction is ativated the ontrol gear is ontrolled only by motion. To operate the ontrol gear via DALI, DSI or swithdim the orridorfunction must be deativated. Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 40 54

swithdim Using the swithdim funtion swithdim is operated by the mains voltage push button. Proedure: Swith the devie on/off by briefly atuating the push button or Dim the devie by holding down the push button Synhronising devies If the devies in a system do not operate synhronously the devies must be synhronised, i.e. put in the same status (on/off). Proedure: Hold down the push button for 10 seonds All devies will be synhronised to the same status LEDs will will be set to a uniform light value (approx. 50%) The fading time will be set to it default value (approx. 3 seonds) Changing the fading time The default value for the fading time is approx. 3 seonds. It an be hanged to approx. 6 seonds. Proedure: Hold down the push button for 20 seonds After 10 seonds: all devies will be synhronised to the same status After 20 seonds: a fading time of approx. 6 seonds will be set LEDs will be set to a uniform light value (approx. 100%) Swithing the ontrol gear to automati mode In automati mode the devie detets whih ontrol signal (DALI, DSI, swithdim, et.) is onneted and automatially swithes to the orresponding operating mode. Proedure: Press the push button 5 times within 3 seonds Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 41 54

swithdim Installation Wiring variants There are two options for installing swithdim: four-pole and five-pole wiring Four-pole wiring Configuration: Phase (L), neutral (N), earth (PE), ontrol line (L') Benefits: No need for a ontrol line thanks to bridging terminal 6 and the N-onnetion of the luminaire Five-pole wiring Configuration: Produt manual LCA PRE / LC EXC en 42 54

swithdim Phase (L), neutral (N), earth (PE), ontrol line (L), neutral (N) Benefits: Control an be hanged at any time to a digital ontrol signal (DSI or DALI) without having to hange the luminaire or provide an additional ontrol line ½ CAUTION! For five-pole wiring the neutral ondutor must be onneted to DA/N. This prevents 400 V being applied between adjaent terminals if a different phase is used for the ontrol input....
