2 Brazilian Shipping Opportunities

3 Brazilian Ports Port of Santos Largest port in South America, handles around 25% of Brazil s foreign trade (by value). Santos lies 65 km from São Paulo, which is Brazil s largest city and the capital of the country s economically most important state. Port of Rio de Janeiro Brazil s second biggest city, Rio de Janeiro is Brazil s sixth biggest port and has an excellent infrastructure and logistics which linking it to the country s most important airports, highways and railroads. 4 Brazilian Ports Port of Vitoria (Tubarão) Located on the northern stretch of Brazil s South-east Coast, it is the second largest in the country in terms of cargo value. Vitória is one of the ports most likely to benefit from Brazil s recent major off-shore oil discoveries. Port of Paranaguá Largest port for exports of soybeans in Latin America, and can also handle all types of cargo. It is Brazil s largest port for shipping grains and the second largest maritime terminal. Covering more than 2.3 million square meters, Paranagua port has a storage capacity of over 1.2 million tons of bulk cargo.

10 Brazil s Shipping Industry Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PETR4), Brazil s state-controlled oil company, booked the world s second-biggest oil tanker, according to Bloomberg Petrobras intends to invest U.S. $ 77.9 billion in Brazil in Abroad, the planned investments Petrobras has totals $ 9 billion Brazilian shipbuilding industry delivered 56 vessels in 2011 and produced 312 projects and 59,000 jobs in 2011 Petrobras/ Transpetro, ordered 49 (U$8.9 Billion) Brazil built vessels delivery by Will double fleet by to 101. Total orders - more than 350 vessels

11 The country is investing in the construction of oil tankers, oil platforms and support vessels. The world fleet of vessels is estimated at 1.3 billion tons deadweight (DWT) and Brazil s cargo across the oceans represents 6,2 million tons that will grow to 10 billion tons in 2020 Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES) will invest U$11 Bi over the next 3 years in ship financing. Brazil s shipbuilding sector - liquid bulk, offshore and merchant fleet will be vastly expanded. Number of jobs in shipbuilding industry rose from 15,000 in 2005 to 40,000 in 2009 and 75,000 by By 2014 forecasts estimate that there will be 200,000 such jobs

12 Program for Fleet Modernization and Expansion (PROMEF) 49 ships ordered until 2015 in a second phase project (PROMEF I & II). Includes modernization of shipyards and creation of new production units - South Atlantic Shipyard (PE). PROMEF is based on three essential premises: 1. Ship production in Brazil 60 thousands new jobs 2. Minimal 65% nationalization level in a first stage and 70% in a second stage. 3. Provision of conditions for shipyard competitiveness. 49 new tanker order will ensure greater autonomy for Petrobrás and serve as the foundation for the revival of Brazilian shipbuilding industry. Program will generate over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs. SETE BRASIL has just been awarded 38 ocean rigs valued at US$ 28 billion and a charter contract value of US$ 90 billion.

13 PROMEF The program foresees orders of 49 ships: 10 Suezmax oil tankers 5 Aframax oil tankers 4 Panamax ships 12 product tankers 8 gas tankers to transport LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) 4 Suezmax DP 3 Aframax DP 3 bunkers tankers Brazilian development bank financing. Adding 4 million DWT to the Transpetro fleet

14 PROMEF I Over the past three years, three shipyards were created: South Atlantic Shipyard, Port Suape, Promar Shipyard, both in Pernambuco, and Shipyard River Tietê, in São Paulo In the first phase the following shipyards were built to fulfill the orders: South Atlantic Shipyard (PE): 10 Suezmax - US$ 1.2 billion 5 Aframax - US$ 693 million Island Eisa Shipyard SA (RJ): 4 Panamax - US$ 468 million Maua Shipyard (RJ): 4 Handymax - US$ 277 million

15 In the second phase the following ships are being built: South Atlantic Shipyard SA (PE) - 4 Suezmax vessels DP - US$ 746 million - 3 Aframax vessels DP - US$ 477 million Superpesa Industrial Ltda. - 3 Carrying Bunker - US$ 46.5 million PROMEF II 16 vessels are in the final stage of bidding, 13 of the second phase and 3 gas tankers of 7,000 m³ of the first phase: - 3 vessels for light color products - 45,000 DWT; - 3 vessels for light color products - 30,000 DWT; - 2 vessels for dark color products - 30,000 DWT; - 2 semi-pressurized LPG gas tankers to transport 12,000 m³; - 2 Pressurized gas tankers 4000 m³; - 4 Pressurized gas tankers 7000 m³.

16 BRAZILMAX / CHINAMAX Vale has obtained a credit line of 1.23 billion dollars to build 12 Brazilmax (Chinamax) with 400,000 DWT capacity, 360m in length.
