With the servo t neutrl, loosen the rke linkge ollr nd move it to point where the rke levers still hve 2mm of spe efore rkes re engged.. With the servo t neutrl, use 1.5mm hex wrenh to set the outer ollr next to the plsti lever (servo horn). ADJUSTING CARBURETOR d d e. To set the high speed needle (lrge needle stiking out from the ruretor ody), turn the srew s pitured. Initil high speed needle setting should e 2.5 turns (lose the needle ompletely, then k out 2.5 turns). Clokwise turn will provide lener setting (lower fuel to ir mixture), nd ounterlokwise turn will provide riher setting (higher fuel to ir mixture).. To set the ruretor idle (smll needle stiking out from the ruretor ody), turn the srew s pitured. Initil idle setting should leve 1mm ruretor gp. Clokwise turn will provide higher idle (lrger ruretor opening), nd ounterlokwise turn will provide lower idle (smller ruretor opening). For more detils out the engine setting, plese refer to ENGINE BREAK-IN/SETTING proedures to properly set the engine.. To set the low speed needle (The low-speed mixture srew is loted in the end of the ruretor). turn the srew s pitured. This srew ontrols how muh fuel enters the engine t idle nd low throttle. This djustment will smooth the idle nd improve the elertion to mid speed. Mke this djustment with the throttle losed, fter setting the idle. Turn the srew lokwise gently until it ottoms out. DO NOT over tighten. Now turn the low-speed mixture srew ounter-lok 6 1/2 turns. d. Remove the outer fom from filter nd mke it moist evenly with few drops of fuel. Put the filter in plsti g nd kned it until the fom is sturted, ut not soked. e. Finlly, mke sure the ir lener oot is seurely fstened with zip-tie. Never run your vehile without the ir filter.if the vehile will e operted in n re with fine dust, use filter oil or ster oil insted of fuel. It is importnt tht the fom is only moist to trp dirt nd llow ir pssge. With the fom too wet, limited ir n pss through; therefore, limiting engine performne.
9 11 FUELLING. Remove the p from fuel ottle nozzle.. Squeeze the fuel ottle, insert into fuel, nd drw fuel into the fuel ottle. The fuel used should e methnol sed model engine glow fuel (ville t hoy shops) with 10% to 30% nitro ontent nd 5% to 18% ster/syntheti oil ontent for lurition.. Fill r's fuel tnk with glow fuel. 12 PREPARING THE ENGINE FOR STARTING d e f. To strt n engine, first remove the glow plug with the inluded wrenh.. Chek the glow plug y plugging it into the glow plug igniter. The glow plug element should light up rightly. If it lights up dimly, then the glow plug igniter is low (nd it needs rehrging). If it doesn't light up, or the plug element looks distorted, then the glow plug is d (reple with new one). After heking, reinstll the glow plug. The glow plug used for this engine n e: Thunder Tiger 9281, MCoy #9 / #59, Novrossi C4S / C5S / C6S,OS #8 / #A3 / #A5, nd Pio P6S / P7S.. With the rdio off, mnully turn the servo to open the ruretor (open throttle). d. Plug the tuned pipe exhust tip. e. Keeping the exhust tip plugged, pull on the engine's strter. Keep doing it until fuel rehes engine's ruretor, then pull it 3 more times to prime the engine. f. Mnully return the servo k to neutrl.
10 13 STARTING THE ENGINE 14. Turn on the rdio (trnsmitter first, then reeiver). Clip the glow plug igniter onto engine's glow plug.. Pull on the engine strter, relese, repet until the engine strts. Throttle mye required to e opened momentrily, (relese k to neutrl immeditely fter it strts). Remove the glow plug igniter from engine fter engine hs strted nd wrmed up. If the engine stops right fter the igniter is removed, the ruretor setting is too rih. Plese refer to engine setting setion. If engine strter eomes hrd to pull, the engine mye flooded. To unflood n engine, remove the glow plug from engine, flip the r upside down, nd pull on the strter to relese exess fuel. Then, reinstll the glow plug nd repet the engine strting proedure. ENGINE BREAK-IN For new engine (rek-in setting), the high speed needle needs to e set s rih s possile. Turn the high speed needle 1/4 turn ounterlokwise from initil setting (2.5 turns from fully losed). Repet step 14. Keep doing this until the engine stlls t full throttle, then turn the high speed needle 1/4 turn lokwise. Run the r in n open prking lot with this rih engine setting for t lest 5 tnks of fuel to omplete the rek-in proess. It is norml for new engines to stll mny times during this time due to the rih setting. When it does, just restrt the engine. After rek-in, follow the engine setting proedure to set the ruretor for norml opertions. ENGINE SETTING Due to different fuel formul, operting elevtion, humidity... et. The engine my / my not operte properly t initil setting. Plese follow the following proedure to hieve proper ruretor setting. Do not perform this proedure until the engine hs een properly roken in.. Strt the engine.. With running engine, run the r k nd foreth in stright line (full throttle hieved during eh pssge) in n open prking lot. Repet, nd note the sound of the exhust. Do not hold the throttle open with r off the ground or the engine onnet rod my rek.. If the exhust does not reh high pith note, turn the high speed needle (long needle, extending from ruretor, pointing up) 1/4 turn lokwise, nd repet step 14. If the exhust rehes high pith note immeditely, turn the high speed needle 1/4 turn ounterlokwise, nd repet step 14. d. Repet step 14 until the engine rehes optimum setting (turning in the high speed needle will no longer hve n effet t full throttle nd turning out the needle will use the engine's full throttle rpm to drop little). For norml opertions, turn the high speed needle 1/4 turn ounterlokwise from the optimum high speed needle setting. e. To set the idle, turn the idle srew in (higher rpm) or out (lower rpm). Bsilly, the idle needs to e set t the lowest possile point efore the engine stlls. f. To set the low speed needle (lrger needle on the side of ruretor ody), the engine needs to e roken-in nd high speed needle needs to e set first. g. Repeting step 14 every 10 seonds (1 seond of full throttle nd 10 seonds of idle). If the engine rpm t idle drops fter few seonds nd stlls, then turn in the low speed needle (lokwise) 1/4 turn. If the engine rpm stys the sme or goes up t idle, then turn out the low speed needle (ounterlokwise) 1/4 turn. h. Keep repeting step 14g until the engine rpm drops (goes to idle rpm, then drops few more rpm fter few seonds) ut does not stll t idle.
11 15 SHOCK AND REAR TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT. Use the inluded shok lips to djust for spring pre-lod. Pressing the entire r down, relese, nd the r should return to ride height (indited on set-up pge). More pre-lod lips will produe higher ride height, nd less lips will produe lower ride height. Amount of lips used for front nd rer shoks n e different, ut lips should e the sme for left nd right.. Use the inluded plsti toe-in pltes to djust for rer toe-in. The toe-in ngles re indited on eh pltes. 16 BODY CUTTING It is reommended to ut the windows out to let ool ir in for good irultion. 17 TWO-SPEED ADJUSTMENT. Your truk's two-speed shift point is preset t ftory. It should shift into 2nd ger within feet(5-6 m) on full-throttle, stnding-strt elertion. Shift Erlier Shift Lter. If the shift point needs to e re-djusted, plese shut down the engine. First lign the BLACK djustment set srew with the opening on the 2nd ger s shown on the digrm.. Using 2mm Allen wrenh, turn the lk djustment set srew lokwise to mke the two-speed shift lter; turn it ounter-lokwise to mke the two-speed shift erlier. Only use 1/4turn inrements whenever you djust your twospeed. Do not srew out the lk set srew too muh or it my use set srew nd spring to fll out. d. If it is srewed in or out too muh, reset the lk set srew s following. First, srew in the lk set srew lokwise gently until it is fully ompressed. Be reful not over-tighten the lk set srew; otherwise the spring inside the shoes my e dmged. And then turn the lk set srew ounterlokwise out 5 turns. Shift timing eomes quiker. Shifts t lower RPM Shift timing eomes slower. Shifts t higher RPM
