2 CARBURETOR SYNCHRONIZATION 1. Disonnet remote fuel line from engine. 2. Connet remote ontrol eletril hrness to engine wiring hrness. 3. Remove throttle le rrel from rrel retiner. 4. Remove sound ir ox over to verify throttle shutters re losed. 5. Loosen srew (1) from throttle m follower. 6. Loosen 2 synhronizing srews (2). - Idle Stop Srew - Roller d - Throttle Cm e - Rised Mrk f - Lok Nut - Cm Follower Adjustment Srew - Synhronizing Srews 7. Hold throttle rm so tht idle stop srew is ginst stop. 8. Ple roller of m follower ginst throttle m nd djust idle stop srew to lign rised mrk of throttle m with enter of m follower roller. Tighten loknut. 9. Holding throttle rm t idle position, djust m follower, so tht lerne of in in. ( mm) exists etween roller of m follower nd throttle m. Tighten set srew seuring m follower ( mm) Roller - Throttle Cm - Cm Follower Adjustment Srew 2C-2 - ELECTRICAL R3 DECEMBER 1997

3 TIMING ADJUSTMENTS CAUTION Engine is timed while rnking engine with strter motor. To prevent engine from strting when eing rnked, ll sprk plugs must e removed, exept no. 1 (top) ylinder plug. IDLE TIMING ADJUSTMENT 1. Connet timing light to no. 1 (top) sprk plug. MAXIMUM TIMING 1. Hold ontrol rm so tht mximum sprk dvne srew is ginst stop. 2. Crnk engine with strter motor nd djust mximum sprk dvne srew to lign the speified BTDC timing mrk on flywheel with timing pointer (due to the dvne hrteristi of this ignition system, this rnking speed djustment will utomtilly e redued y 2 t n engine speed of 3000 RPM). Tighten loknut. WARNING Before rnking engine, keep ler of propeller s it my rotte. 2. Shift engine to Neutrl. IMPORTANT: To urtely time engine t rnking speed, fully hrged ttery must e used. 3. Holding throttle rm t idle position, rnk engine with strter motor nd djust idle timing srew to lign 5 BTDC timing mrk of flywheel with timing pointer. Tighten loknut. 2-8 BTDC Control Arm - Mximum Sprk Advne Srew - Loknut MAXIMUM THROTTLE 1. Hold throttle rm ginst full throttle stop srew. Adjust full throttle stop srew to llow throttle shutters to open fully, then turn stop srew in (lokwise) n dditionl 1/2 turn, to prevent throttle lever of enter ruretor from ting s stop. Tighten loknut Idle Timing Srew - Full Throttle Stop Srew - Loknut R3 DECEMBER 1997 ELECTRICAL - 2C-3

4 INITIAL STARTING ADJUSTMENTS 2-8 BTDC After servie or replement of ruretor, turn low speed mixture srew djustment in (lokwise) until it sets lightly, then k off (eh ruretor) to speifitions (65JET/75/90 1 turn on #1 r; 1 1-1/2 turns on #2 nd #3 rs). This will permit engine strt-up. LOW SPEED MIXTURE ADJUSTMENTS 1. Strt engine nd llow to wrm up (run for severl minutes). Throttle k to idle for out one minute to llow RPM to stilize. 2. With engine running t idle speed (in wter) in Forwrd ger (prop on), turn low speed mixture srew, IN (lokwise) until engine strts to og down nd misfire. Bk out 1/4 turn or more. 3. Chek for too len mixture on elertion. 4. DO NOT djust lener thn neessry to ttin resonle smooth idling. When in dout, sty on the slightly rih side of the djustment. IDLE ADJUSTMENT 1. With engine in wter, onnet eletril hrness nd fuel line to engine. Strt engine nd llow to wrm up. 2. Shift into Forwrd ger nd djust ruretor low speed mixture srews properly (refer to Cruretor setion). 3. Holding throttle rm t idle position, djust idle timing srew to ttin n engine idle RPM of RPM in Forwrd ger. Turn off engine. - Idle Timing Srew C-4 - ELECTRICAL R3 DECEMBER 1997

5 Throttle Cle Instlltion 1. With end of throttle le onneted to throttle lever, hold throttle lever ginst idle stop. Adjust throttle le rrel to slip into rrel retiner on le nhor rket with very light prelod of throttle lever ginst idle stop. Lok rrel in ple. IMPORTANT: Exessive prelod on throttle le will use diffiulty when shifting from forwrd to neutrl. (Redjust throttle le rrel, if neessry.) 2. Chek prelod on throttle le y pling thin piee of pper etween idle stop srew nd idle stop. Prelod is orret when pper n e removed without tering ut hs some drg on it. (Redjust throttle le rrel, if neessry.) CARBURETOR/OIL PUMP SYNCHRONIZATION 1. While holding throttle rm t idle position, djust length of link rod so tht stmped mrk of oil pump ody ligns with stmped mrk of oil pump lever.
