IMPORTANT: Merury MerCruiser requires tht propylene glyol ntifreeze, mixe to the mnufturers instrutions, e use in the sewter setion of the ooling system for freezing tempertures or extene storge. Mke sure tht the propylene glyol ntifreeze ontins rust inhiitor n is reommene for use in mrine engines. Be ertin to follow the propylene glyol mnufturer's reommentions. Prepring Power Pkge for Storge 1. Fill the fuel tnks with fresh gsoline (tht oes not ontin lohol) n suffiient mount of Quiksilver Gsoline Stilizer for Mrine Engines to tret the gsoline. Follow instrutions on the ontiner. 2. If the ot is to e ple in storge with fuel ontining lohol in fuel tnks (if fuel without lohol is not ville): Fuel tnks shoul e rine s low s possile n Merury/Quiksilver Gsoline Stilizer for Mrine Engines e to ny fuel remining in the tnk. Refer to Fuel Requirements for itionl informtion. 3. Flush the ooling system. Refer to the Mintenne setion. IMPORTANT: In orer to run the engine s require in the reminer of the storge preprtion proeure, wter must e supplie to the engine s esrie in the flushing proeure. 4. Provie ooling wter to the engine s one in the previous step. 5. Operte the engine suffiiently to ring it up to norml operting temperture n llow fuel with Merury/Quiksilver Gsoline Stilizer to irulte through the fuel system. Shut off the engine. 6. Chnge the oil n oil filter. 7. Prepre the engine n fuel system for storge. Refer to Engine n Fuel System Preprtion. 8. Drin the engine sewter ooling system. Refer to Drining the Sewter System. For itionl ssurne ginst freezing n rust, fter rining, fill the ooling system with propylene glyol mixe to the mnufturer's reommention to protet engine to the lowest temperture to whih it will e expose uring freezing tempertures or extene storge. Store the sternrive in the full own position. 11. Store ot with rive unit in full own/in position. 12. Store the ttery oring to the mnufturer's instrutions. ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM PREPARATION! 4 Setion 6 - Storge 3. Close the fuel shut off vlve, if equippe. Disonnet n plug the fuel inlet fitting if not equippe with fuel shut off vlve. 4. Connet the remote fuel tnk (with the fogging mixture) to the fuel inlet fitting. IMPORTANT: Supply ooling wter to the engine. 5. Strt n operte the engine t 1300 rpm for 5 minutes. 6. After speifie operting time is omplete, slowly return throttle to ile rpm n shut engine off. IMPORTANT: Ensure tht some fogging mixture remins in the engine. Do not llow the engines fuel system to eome ompletely ry. 7. Reple the wter seprting fuel filter element. Refer to Setion 5 for proper proeure. Drining the Sewter System! CAUTION Wter n enter the ilge when the rin system is open, mging the engine or using the ot to sink. Remove the ot from the wter or lose the seok, isonnet n plug the sewter inlet hose, n ensure the ilge pump is opertionl efore rining. Do not operte the engine with the rin system open. IMPORTANT: Only rin the sewter setion of the lose ooling system. IMPORTANT: The ot must e s level s possile to ensure omplete rining of the ooling system. Your power pkge is equippe with rin system. Refer to Drin System Ientifition to etermine whih instrutions pply to your power pkge. IMPORTANT: The engine must not e operting t ny point uring the rining proeure. However, ny ir soure n e use. 1. Close the seok (if equippe) or remove n plug the wter inlet hose. 2. Remove the ir pump from the engine. 3. Ensure tht the lever on top of the pump is flush with the hnle (horizontl). 4. Instll the ir pump on the tutor fitting. Pge OCTOBER 2007

Immeitely remove the lue rin plug from the sie of the thermostt housing or the het exhnger. This must e remove within 30 seons to properly vent the ooling system. If not, use the Three Point Mnul Drin System instrutions. - Port sie rin lotion Stror sie rin lotion 9. Allow the system to rin for minimum of five minutes. Pump ir s neessry to keep the green initors extene. 10. Crnk the engine over slightly with the strter motor to purge ny wter trppe in the sewter pump. Do not llow engine to strt. 11. Reinstll the lue rin plug in the thermostt housing or het exhnger. 12. Remove the ir pump from the ir mnifol n return it to the mounting rket. 13. BOAT OUT OF THE WATER - Green initors Open the seok, if equippe, or unplug n reonnet the wter inlet hose prior to operting the engine. Remove the ir pump from the engine. 3. Ensure tht the lever on top of the pump is flush with the hnle (horizontl). 4. Instll the ir pump on the tutor fitting. 5. If wter oes not rin, remove the lue rin plug from the istriution housing n rin mnully. - Drin lotion ornge or re Blue rin plug BOAT OUT OF THE WATER 5. Allow the system to rin for minimum of five minutes. We reommen leving the rin system open while trnsporting the ot or performing other mintenne. 6. Verify tht wter is rining from eh opening. 6. Allow the system to rin for minimum of five minutes. We reommen leving the rin system open while trnsporting the ot or performing other mintenne to ensure tht ll wter is rine. 7. 15 Setion 6 - Storge 2. Remove three lue rin plugs: one from the istriution housing (lower front, port sie) n two from the sewter pikup pump (front, stror sie) Blue rin plug 3. Verify tht wter is rining from eh opening. 4. Allow the system to rin for minimum of five minutes. We reommen leving the rin system open while trnsporting the ot or performing other mintenne to ensure tht ll wter is rine. 5. Crnk the engine over slightly with strter motor to purge ny wter trppe in the sewter pikup pump. Do not llow the engine to strt. 6. Before lunhing the ot or strting the engine, lose the rin system y instlling the three lue rin plugs. Multi Point Drin (MPD) System BOAT OUT OF THE WATER 1. Ple the ot on level surfe to ensure omplete rining of the system. 2. Remove the lue rin plugs from the following lotions. If neessry, len out the rin holes using stiff piee of wire. Follow the ttery mnufturer's instrutions for storge. Power Pkge Reommissioning 1. Ensure tht ll ooling system hoses re onnete properly n hose lmps re tight.! CAUTION Disonneting or onneting the ttery les in the inorret orer n use injury from eletril shok or n mge the eletril system. Alwys isonnet the negtive ( ) ttery le first n onnet it lst. 2. Instll fully hrge ttery. Clen the ttery le lmps n terminls n reonnet les. Tighten eh le lmp seurely when onneting. 3. Cot the terminl onnetions with ttery terminl nti orrosion gent. 4. Perform ll the heks in the efore strting olumn of the Opertion Chrt. NOTICE Without suffiient ooling wter, the engine, the wter pump, n other omponents will overhet n suffer mge. Provie suffiient supply of wter to the wter inlets uring opertion. 5. Strt the engine n losely oserve instrumenttion to ensure tht ll systems re funtioning orretly. 6. Crefully inspet the engine for fuel, oil, flui, wter n exhust leks. 7. Inspet the steering system, shift n throttle ontrol for proper opertion OCTOBER 2007 Pge 121
