Alwys quote these numers in ny orresponene with your eler. 2 INITIAL CHECKS Chek tht the trtor is equippe to eliver 540 rev/min t the PTO shft. The mhine is esigne to run t this spee n IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST THE PTO EXCEED 600 REV/MIN. 3 MACHINE PRE-START CHECK Chek tht the rotor is free from ostrutions espeilly piees of wire. Chek tht ll flils re in goo onition n seurely tthe to the rotor. Chek tht ll gurs re in their orret ple (see Setion 12) n lso tht they re in goo onition. Chek the oil level in the tnk. The level is orret when up to the initor mrk in the sight glss or visile in the ottom of the filler ssemly striner. DO NOT OVERFILL. Most oils inrese in volume s they wrm up n erte n n then spill out through the rether. (Refer to Approve Oils Setion.) 4 STARTING UP PROCEDURE COLD START UP When strting the mhine for the first time, prior to ommening work, it is essentil not to run the pump initilly t too high spee. Therefore the trtor PTO spee shoul not exee 360 rev/min, n shoul only reh this spee grully. The ol strt up instrutions given elow shoul e stritly here to. Ensure tht the trtor PTO rive is in neutrl. Ensure tht the rotor ontrol lever (fitte to twin pump inepenent mhines) operting the iverter vlve (jent to the rm opertion levers) is in the rotor-stoppe position. Strt trtor engine, run t ile spee n engge PTO rive. Slowly move the rotor ontrol lever to strt the rotor. e Grully inrese engine spee. f Continue inresing engine spee until rotor is running smoothly n PTO spee is pproximtely 350 rev/min. g Run rotor t this spee for minimum of 5 minutes to llow oil in the system to wrm up. h The mhine is now rey for work. NORMAL START UP i j Never ttempt to strt the rotor while it is uner lo. Alwys free the rotor from ny ostrutions first. Never inrese or erese PTO spee rpily s this n le to pump n motor mge. 13 1

GENERAL OPERATION TRANSPORT Normlly the mhine will nee to e riven to the work site efore ommening work. To keep the mhine/trtor with to minimum it is neessry to fol the rms to the trnsport position. On moels with the slew/rekout rm the rms my e slewe k to provie nrrow trnsport position. Keep hoses wy from tyres. When the mhine is in the trnsport position it is essentil tht ll the isoltor vlves re lose. When trnsporting with the rms slewe k, keep the first rm vertil s the rms n oune forwr n mge the trtor. When trnsporting on the highwy, oey ll relevnt highwy lws. 13 2

GENERAL OPERATION CUTTING CONTROL Do not swing utting unit inor eyon vertil ut when rms re rise ove trtor height. In this position loss of ontrol n our. Roller Height The roller on the utting unit is set in its mile position efore the mhine leves the ftory. It shoul e reset to suit the operting onitions n ut length require. Grss Cutting Ajust the height of the roller to give require ut length. The higher the roller is rise the shorter the grss. Note: The higher the roller is set the greter the flil wer. Hege Trimming Rise roller to its mximum to give lowest ut possile. IMPORTANT THE ROLLER MUST BE KEPT IN POSITION AT ALL TIMES AS IT IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE CUTTING UNIT GUARDING. 7 STOPPING THE CUTTING UNIT The rotor must only e engge/isengge y mens of the rotor on/off ontrol lever or swith epening on metho of ontrol (le or eletri). see Setion 7. Stopping the rotor y use of the trtor engine stop or PTO ontrol risks mge to the utting unit's hyruli system, n shoul only e use in n emergeny. If the rotor is stoppe y use of either the trtor engine stop or PTO ontrol, re must e tken to ensure the rotor ontrol lever is returne to the OFF position efore restrting the trtor. 8 ARM FLOAT ACCUMUATOR (Optionl) The mhine my fitte with n umultor to llow the rms to flot for grss utting pplition. The purpose of the rmflot is to permit the utting unit to follow uneven groun without opertor intervention s fr s possile n to llow most of the weight of the utting unit to e rrie y the trtor, thus minimising the teneny to slew. This lso reues wer on the rotor n in the erings of the roller. The rmflot is not use when hege trimming, s the utting unit woul e very iffiult to ontrol n uneven (stellte) results woul e otine. To shut off the rm flot lose the isoltor vlve. When opening the isoltor vlve ensure ll he weight is on the groun, otherwise the first rm my move unexpetely. WARNING THIS VALVE MUST BE CLOSED WHEN THE MACHINE IS TRAVELLING, WHETHER IN TRANSPORT POSITION OR NOT. 13 3

GENERAL OPERATION ADJUSTABLE FIRST RAM POSITION The purpose of the first rm position justment is to mximise the working envelope of the mhine. Two positions re ville - A, n B. The lower position "A" mximises the ownnk reh of the mhine. The upper position "B" optimises the mhine's geometry for high utting n nrrow lne situtions. IMPORTANT WHEN CHANGING THE FIRST RAM MOUNTING POSITION, DO NOT DISCONNECT ANY HYDRAULIC FITTINGS. ENSURE THE FULL HEAD WEIGHT IS ON THE GROUND AND THE TRACTOR IS SWITCHED OFF. 13-4

OPERATING HINTS OPERATING HINTS Keep trtor PTO spee t rev/min to mintin the orret rotor spee for the jo to e tkle. Depening on the uil of the utting unit fitte this my e either 3000 rev/min vise for HEDGE CUTTING, or 2485 rev/min vise for GRASS CUTTING (see Setion 16-10). Slower spees MAY reue the qulity of ut otine y the rotor, ut stisftory performne n e mintine own to rotor spee of 2100 rev/min. This n e n vntge with trtors with high ottom ger. e Exmine the piee of work to e ut. It is very importnt tht the work site is inspete efore utting n ll hien ostrutions remove or their position lerly mrke so tht they my e voie. Chek heges for wire n fening stkes, n ithes for tree stumps, rin pipes, lrge stones, et. Stlling in hevy growth is likely to use mge to the rotor.
