4 10-HOUR OR DAILY SERVICE-Continued Lubrication and Periodic Service 47 Cylinder Drive Tightener - (R.H. Front) Float Springs - (Under Feeder House) Crankcase Oil Level Rotary Deflector Drive Tightener - (R.H. Front) Variable Speed Cylinder Sheave - (R.H. Front) Check crankcase oil level with bayonet gauge. Do not add oil until level is down to bottom mark on bayonet gauge. Do not operate engine with oil ~avel below the bottom mark. If necessary, add oil until oil level is to top mark. Check oil level 10 minutes after stopping engine.

5 62 Service IMPORTANT: Be certain control wedges are properly seated before tightening bolts "A" and "C." Tighten bolt "B." 11. Adjust tension on lower drive belts (page 63). 12. Hook hydraulic cylinder safety stop to the chain. 5. Wire hydraulic cylinders to align with lower hinge brackets, drive separator forward, and attach pivot brackets to feeder house. 6. Raise the feed plate door; position the support tube under the feed plate door and fasten the overcenter locks. 13. Couple hoses to control valve. 14. Couple protective cap and nose together. NOTE: The feeder house, at this point, is prepared for corn harvest. For small grain harvesting, see step (Not Illustrated) (Small grain harvesting only.) Start combine and move the variable speed feeder house control lever all the way back. This will retract the variabl~ speed cylinder piston rod. The top variable sheaves should be completely open. Shut off engine. 7. Attach the hydraulic cylinders to hinge brackets. 8. Install upper drive belt and adjust tension (page 66). 9. Replate variable drive belt by working the belt over one variable sheave and then the other. Place belt on tightener. 10. Install bolt "c" and while rotating sheaves by hand, tighten bolts "A" and "C."

6 124 Service ENGINES ENGINE CLOSURE AND ROTARY SCREEN DOOR Opening and Closing the Engine Closure Opening and Closing Rotary Screen Door Pull out and down on the two over-center latch handles, unhook and let lower door down. Disengage screen drive by moving lever rearward and" up. Pull out on screen door latch and swing door open. When closing screen door, swing screen door in and fasten latch. Engage screen drive by moving lever down and forward. IMPORTANT: Rotary screen drive must be fully disengaged before opening or closing screen door. Adjusting Over-Center Latches HOO ADJUSTING THREADS Raise upper door and slide door back. Be certain bottom edge of door rests in the brackets on each side of the engine compartment. A CAUTION: If the engine is to be worked.. on, be careful not to touch the exhaust pipe when hot. When closing, lift upper door up and out of brackets. Slide door forward and down. Lift upward on lower door and fasten over-center latches. Turn latch hook on or off threads for proper adjustment. Latch is properly adjusted when it will snap over center with a small amount of pressure.
