6 vovo dynamic steering The road ahead is straight. Even when it isn t. It s a patented and groundbreaking invention, making driving more reaxed and safe. It heps you straighten out the various disturbances that may occur on the road or track you are driving on. The risk of repetitive strain injuries on your body are therefore dramaticay reduced. It s a about active steering. We ca it Vovo Dynamic Steering. Just experience it yoursef. How it works. We have fitted an eectrica motor on the steering gear. The motor is controed 2,000 times per second via the truck s eectronic contro units and produce torque overay. The torque is progressive and gives more power to the steering when needed, obtaining a predetermined steering fee, independent of oad and tyres. This resuts in a totay different driving experience reassuringy predictabe. 6

7 At ow speeds you get more steering power up to 85% additiona steering force. And the steering whee automaticay returns to neutra. At high speeds it cances out disturbances and swaows pothoes on the road. The steering aso corrects course deviations caused by gusts of wind, for exampe. Reversing is performed more easiy, because the steering whee wi return to neutra, stay there and keep you on a straight backward track. When the road surface is cambered, the steering compensates the santing and corrects the course. The new steering is especiay suitabe for trucks with mutipe rear axes. This is how we improved handing and driving comfort. We ve taken many steps to increase handing characteristics and driving comfort. The resuts are very positive, we must admit. It s comfortabe. It s smooth. It foows you ike a faithfu dog. The cab suspension is more stabe and the engine suspension is modified to decrease noise and vibrations. The driving comfort was good it s now even better. New and re-positioned stabiisers on the rear suspension give ess static ro and prevents chassis movements from transmitting to the cab. It doesn t ony make the driving more comfortabe, it aso reduces torsiona forces in the chassis. Improved geometry of the front eaf and rear air suspension and a new steering gear position significanty improves the course stabiity. 7

12 the ower front How can a bumper affect your uptime? It doesn t matter how skied you are. On the narrow, dark stretches of the mine or in the grave pit it s easy to bump into something and damage the truck. Thus, the headights are we anchored and suppied with the option of headamp protectors. Rough surfaces and rocks must not damage the oi pan. The bumpers must withstand rough treatment. And, if something shoud happen, you shoudn t need to bring the truck to the workshop. Just keep on running as if nothing happened. Because uptime is essentia. 12

13 The sturdy bumper. It s made of stee, it s in three parts and the attachments are visibe and easy to undo. This makes it easy to change the part that is damaged. So if you run into a pie of rubbe it s no big dea. Perhaps you don t even notice any damage on the bumper. This is because the stee bumper is aso covered by a thick poypropyene centre section, that wi return to its origina form if damaged. Tougher front bumper with greater coision resistance. The compete ower front is made as a box construction. Every part of it interacts, making the construction very sturdy, but at the same time resiient in a coision with a car. We at Vovo have mistreated this truck in our tests, more than you ever wi dream of. And we are now convinced that this is the sturdiest front bumper in the industry. The skid pate. This protecting skid pate under the engine is reay worth its name. It is 3 mm thick and doesn t ony protect the engine sump, but the hoses and cooer too. Everything that is vunerabe when driving off road is protected, even when you reverse. The skid pate has another advantage too; if you drive in a very dusty environment the pate reduces dust vortices under the truck. 13

14 Rear air suspension A streamined bey-ine. At east the truck has one. One of the most essentia quaifications for a construction truck is high ground cearance. That s why we created the new rear air suspension for one up to three rear axes. At the same time we created outstanding stabiity and driving comfort, whether the truck is aden or unaden. This is a rear suspension that is specificay deveoped for the grave pit. High bogie oad Tandem Design: 26 tonnes. Tridem Design: 36 tonnes. 14

15 Better traction and higher average speed Optimized rear axe pressure on every axe means better traction, thanks to the air suspension. The driver can adjust axe oad distribution for better traction if needed. Air suspension gives ess vibration into the truck and you wi get a better driving comfort, especiay when unoaded contributing to a higher average speed. Stabiisers ocated in the centre of the bogie The position of the stabiiser bar resuts in ess torsion forces on the chassis and better ro and tipping stabiity. It aso contributes to the high ground cearance. Protected brakes Don t worry. No parts of the braking system are positioned beneath the rear axe. 16 A-whee drive Never get stuck. When it s very hiy and the road conditions are reay rough, there s the option of a-whee drive. The best part about this is that you seect a-whee drive when you need it, but can avoid it when running on a firm surface. This wi save you a ot of fue. So if you want to be sure of getting out of the dirt, these are the configurations to choose. The Vovo a-whee drive is avaiabe as 4 4 and 6 6, together with the 8 6 with driven front axe that is now a standard offer from Vovo. 335 mm 16

17 28 The choice is yours. Made for the steep gradients. It s a protected. The differentia ock engagement can be seected automaticay or manuay, per axe or for a driven axes. A differentias can be ocked whie driving. By using the differentia ock button you get the choice depending on what is needed to get your truck roing. The new driven front axe is dimensioned for very high torque and heavy oads. It has the same position as the non-driven axe, 100 mm further forward compared with the od one. This means that you can benefit from a reay practica and usefu approach ange when cimbing steep gradients (28 with driven front axe and 13R22.5 tyres). The steering parae and ink rods are a paced in ine with the axe, inside the axe-casing enveope. Brake chambers and fue tanks are positioned up high and out of the way on the chassis. There are no protruding parts that coud impede your progress over ogs and stones. The bey ine is competey streamined. 335 mm 17

Therefore it s reassuring to know that Vovo FMX is equipped with a towing device that reay pus its weight. Take a firm and easy grip. With one simpe grip, you can reease the towing device to connect a tow bar. The device has passed tests with atera pu/ push forces of an astonishing 32 tonnes at a maximum ange of This is why you can trust the towing device. It is part of a cross member which is made of high-strength stee. The whoe assemby is staby mounted in the ongitudina frame members. It provides not ony a very strong structure, but it s aso a great soution to counteract the vibration of the chassis, thus enhancing driving comfort.

20 driver support systems Even a first-rate driver can need some extra support on the road. 20 Stretch Brake. Emergency brake ight. In certain situations, such as turning or driving downhi on sippery roads, the traier risks catching up with the truck, creating a hazardous jack-knife effect. The Stretch Brake is a Vovo feature designed to stop that from happening. By puse braking the traier, the vehice combination is stretched and the danger reduced. The system can be automaticay activated in risky situations, at speeds of up to 30 mph. If you need to sam on the brake in an emergency, the brake ights fash rapidy to aert the vehices behind you. An easy way of avoiding rear-end coisions. Lane Changing Support. Eectronic Stabiity Program. The bind-spot area on the passenger side can easiy hide other road users. Lane Changing Support (LCS) is equipped with a radar that checks this area when you activate the indicator. If the area s not cear, you are notified by a warning sound and a fashing icon by the mirror. The Eectronic Stabiity Program (ESP) appies the brakes individuay on each whee. This provides stabiity for the entire vehice combination, thus counteracting jack-knifing, ro-over and traier swing. ESP is avaiabe for both tractors and rigids. Aso avaiabe as an accessory. Adaptive Cruise Contro with Forward Coision Warning. Foow the traffic rhythm without effort. The radar-based Adaptive Cruise Contro (ACC) keeps a safe distance from the vehice in front by controing the acceerator and a the avaiabe brakes. If there s a risk of coision, warning ights are projected on the windscreen informing the driver to take action and appy the brakes. Enhanced performance Bad roads. This is a very usefu software program for I-Shift. It adjusts gear changing, assists starting and aids driving off-road in poor conditions or hiy terrain.

How woud you ike your I-Shift? The software makes it possibe to taior I-Shift to your driving conditions. (Hence the compact design and ow interna osses.) But of course there s more to I-Shift than that. The secret ies in the inteigent eectronic contro unit. It s responsibe for controing the pneumatic system that handes the cutch and shifts. By constanty receiving information about vehice speed, acceeration, weight, road grade, torque demand and more, it can carry out every shift with extreme precision.
