MOWING TIPS Under certain conditions, such as very ta grass, it may be necessary to raise the height of cut to reduce pushing effort and to keep from overoading the engine and eaving cumps of grass cippings. It may aso be necessary to reduce ground speed and /or run the awn mower over the area a second time. For extremey heavy cutting, reduce the width of cut by overapping previousy cut path and mow sowy. For better grass bagging and most cutting conditions, the engine speed shoud be set in the fast position. Pores in coth grass catchers can become fied with dirt and dust with use and catchers wi coect ess grass. To prevent this, reguary hose catcher off with water and et dry before using. Keep top of engine around starter cear and cean of grass cippings and chaff. This wi hep engine air fow and extend engine ife. IMPORTANT: FOR BEST PERFORMAN- CE, KEEP MOWER HOUSING FREE OF BUILT-UP GRASS AND TRASH. SEE CLEANING IN CUSTOMER RESPON- SIBILITIES SECTION OF THIS MANUAL. MULCHING MOWING TIPS (for 3inmower). The specia muching bade wi re-cut the grass cippings many times and reduce them in size so that as they fa onto the awn they wi disperse into the grass and not be noticed. Aso, the muched grass wi 07 08

7 biodegrade quicky to provide nutrients for the awn. Aways much with your highest engine (bade) speed, as this wi provide the best re-cutting action of the bades. Avoid cutting your awn when it is wet. Wet grass tends to form cumps and interferes with the muching action. The best time to mow your awn is the eary afternoon. At this time the grass has dried and the newy cut area wi not be exposed to the direct sun. For best resuts, adjust the awn mower cutting height so that the awn mower cuts off ony the top one-third of the grass bades. If the awn is overgrown it wi be necessary to raise the height of cut to reduce MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE pushing effort and to keep from overoading the engine and eaving cumps of muched grass. For extremey heavy muching, reduce your width of cut by overapping previousy cut path and mow sowy. Certain types of grass and grass conditions may require that an area be muched a second time to competey hide the cippings. When doing a second cut, mow across or perpendicuar to the first cut path. Change your cutting pattern from week to week. Mow north to south one week then change to east to west the next week. This wi hep prevent matting and graining of the awn. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES BEFORE EACH USE Check engine oi eve. 2 Check for oose fasteners. LUBRICATION Keep unit we ubricated. LAWN MOWER Aways observe safety rues when performing any maintenance.
