3 DEFINITION One Persn Train Operatin (OPTO) is a technlgical change and mdernizing step that remves the need fr a guard n the train and permits the driver f the train t becme a Train Operatr - respnsible fr the safe driving f the train, peratinal incidents, peratin f the train drs and train dr mnitring n departure 3

4 JUSTFICATION FOR CHANGE Technlgy has develped s that ne crew member can safely drive the train AND perate dr cntrls; The vast majrity f subway authrities perate trains with a single crew member including Paris, Lndn Undergrund, Chicag, LA, Mntreal, Hng Kng, Berlin, Lisbn, Madrid, Glasgw, Stckhlm, Bangkk Recent cnversins t OPTO include Philadelphia and Lndn Overgrund Ntable exceptins include New Yrk and Trnt NO subway has reverted back t tw persn peratin n the grunds f safety 4
