2 What is RMI? Vehicle repair and maintenance infrmatin means all infrmatin required fr: diagnsis, servicing, inspectin, peridic mnitring, repair, re-prgramming r re-initialising, r remte diagnstic supprt f the vehicle and which the manufacturers prvide fr their authrised dealers and repairers.

3 Actrs in RMI Manufacturers shall prvide unrestricted and standardised access t vehicle OBD infrmatin, diagnstic and ther equipment, tls including any relevant sftware and vehicle RMI t independent peratrs. Vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) RMI Fees Manufacturers may charge reasnable and prprtinate fees fr access t vehicle RMI based n time r transactin Independent Operatrs (IOs) Repairers Parts distributrs and whlesalers Manufacturers f diagnstic and repair tls Publishers f technical infrmatin

4 Means f access t RMI OEMs shall prvide access t vehicle RMI t IOs thrugh websites using a standardised frmat in a manner which is nn-discriminatry cmpared t authrised dealers and repairers. The SERMI scheme (security related repair and service infrmatin) creates a Eurpean-wide prcess fr accreditatin, apprval and authrisatin t access security-related vehicle RMI. CEN Standards mandated by the EC Websites develped by OEMs Secure Nn- Secure SERMI Scheme

5 Minimum cntent f RMI unequivcal vehicle identificatin; service handbks, including digital RMI recrds; wiring diagrams; diagnstic truble cdes; sftware calibratin identificatin number by vehicle type; prprietary tls and equipment; develpment f generic diagnstic tls and replacement cmpnents; test and diagnsis infrmatin; technical manuals, training material and wrking tls; infrmatin fr fitting parts r equipment nt vehicles; standard wrk units r time perids fr repair and maintenance tasks.

6 Type-apprval requirements n RMI Prf f cmpliance with RMI legal requirements. Manufacturer's certificate n access t vehicle RMI t be presented within 6 mnths frm the date f type-apprval. Step-by step, mixed r multi-stage type-apprvals: each manufacturer is respnsible fr prviding RMI related t its particular type-apprval r stage, and final manufacturer is respnsible fr WVTA RMI Exemptins: Small vlume manufacturers (HDV & T-cat) Natinal small series [T-cat (nly tractrs) & L-cat] MS penalties fr infringement shall be effective, prprtinate and dissuasive. They may include withdrawal r suspensin f type-apprval, fines r ther measures.

7 Technical requirements n RMI RMI t be prvided n pen text and graphic frmats r frmats which can be viewed and printed using standard sftware plug-ins cmmnly in use. Where pssible, keywrds in the metadata shall cnfrm t ISO :2010 (Cmmunicatin between vehicle and external equipment fr emissins-related diagnstics - Guidance n terms, definitins, abbreviatins and acrnyms). In general, widely accepted standards will be used t cnduct: Reprgramming f electrnic cntrl units (ECUs); Validatin f the cmpatibility f manufacturer-specific applicatin and vehicle cmmunicatin interfaces (VCI). In-vehicle cmmunicatin and cmmunicatin between ECUs and diagnstic service tls.
