2 Page 2 f Intrductin This Standard Operating Prcedure (SOP) describes the vessel s auxiliary mechanical systems and their basic peratins. Details f auxiliary system peratins are detailed in the manufacturer s manuals. The fllwing list f systems is identified as auxiliary n bard the R/V Brks McCall. Fuel il transfer pump Engine rm ventilatin fan Air cmpressrs Air cnditin system Bw thruster Generatr 2.0 Respnsibility The Chief Engineer is respnsible fr the peratin, inspectin and maintenance f all auxiliary systems. The chief engineer will delegate varius inspectin and maintenance duties t the engineering staff. 3.0 Prcedures Brief perating instructins fr auxiliary plant systems are as fllws. 3.1 Fuel Oil Transfer Pump (FOTP) Take sundings n each tank invlved in peratin and fuel il transfer meter Open the apprpriate valves n the fuel il manifld Press start buttn n the FOTP Cntinuusly mnitr each tank by sundings T fill the starbard side day tank Take sunding n each tank invlved in peratin Utilize sight glass n day tank Open apprpriate valves n the fuel il manifld Mnitr each tank by sunding he sight glass n day tank Once the desired amunt f fuel has been transferred, secure the system and shut dwn the FOTP and get final transfer meter reading

3 Page 3 f 5 Press stp buttn n FOTP Secure all valves pened at fuel il manifld Recrd in apprpriate engineering lgs and fuel il lgs 3.2 Engine Rm Ventilatin Fans- Prt and Starbard Ensure that the main breaker in the main switch bard is turned n Switch n the lcal cntrl panel On the main switch bard Mnitr with an amperes meter t verify nrmal parameters Switch ff n blwer cntrl bxes in engine rm 3.3 Air Cmpressrs #1 and 2, Drain water frm air tanks. Set lcal cntrl bx switch t n Wrk in aut mde Pressure switches regulate tank pressure Set lcal cntrl bx switch t ff 3.4 Bw Thruster Start generatr. Switch n breaker fr bw thruster n main cntrl panel in auxiliary generatr rm. (Bus1) T apprpriate generatr Check il level f hydraulic tank. Start by bridge cntrl-pushing start buttn

Shut dwn the bw thruster generatr 3.5 Generatr Check il level in crankcase Check water level f expansin tank Make sure fuel valve are in pen psitin On main switch bard put generatr in idle psitin Set switch t run. Set para/nn para switch t n psitin Set ammeter switch t n psitin Start generatr, let run fr ten minutes at 900 rpms Mnitr il pressure at 60 PSI Mnitr water temperature 210 max Mnitr fuel il pressure at 20 PSI On main switch bard Set idle/run switch t the run psitin Adjust the speed trim dial t 60.4 Hz (turn clckwise t increase) Set synchrnizer selectr switch t incming generatr Mnitr synchrscpe speed and directin Adjust speed trim dial t achieve prper directin (clckwise) and speed (very slw) f synchrscpe When synchrscpe is at 12 clck psitin switch n the breaker fr the incming generatr Incming generatr is nw in parallel with the utging generatr On main switch bard Mnitr vltage at 480 Mnitr cycles at 60 Hz When satisfied that all parameters are nrmal n the main switch bard ensure generatr circuit breaker is pen
