3 Introduction PWCS is proposing to construct a maintenance transportation center at 5728 Wellington Road, Bristow (adjacent to Jiffy Lube Live) The Schools April 2010 CIP first stated need for a western transportation center Facility is needed to provide efficient refueling, maintenance, and parking of buses that operate within and support the schools in western PWC Battlefield HS, Bull Run MS, Reagan MS, Alvey ES, Gravely ES, Haymarket ES, Mountain View ES, Tyler ES 4/18/2016 3
4 Need for Bus Parking Facility Bus fleet increasing an average 25 per year due to student growth Facilitate parking buses that operate within and support the schools in the north areas of western PWC McCuin Transportation Center Presently houses buses that operate in all of western PWC Filled to capacity Increased parking will eliminate the need to park buses in residential areas as the fleet continues to grow Providing an additional western location will reduce mileage, fuel consumption and driver costs 4/18/2016
5 Bus Facilities 893 total buses in PWCS fleet 4 main facilities McCuin, Potomac, Central, Hooe Road 12 satellite bus parking facilities 8 buses currently park at Battlefield High School 8 buses park at Mountain View Elementary School 78 buses service the area north of I-66/Route of 78 park at McCuin 4/18/2016
6 Bus Maintenance Buses need to refuel approximately 2 times a week Buses require inspection once a month If bus has maintenance other than where it is parked, the driver is on the clock until maintenance is finished $4.70/mile average cost of driving a bus 4/18/2016

16 Intended Timeline Submit Public Facilities Review Application (after public comment) PFR Public Hearing before the PWC Planning Commission 6 months Virginia law requires all public facilities to be consistent with the locality s Comprehensive Plan. Finalize Purchase of Property After approved PFR Design and Construct Early 2017-May 2019 Goal is to have buses parked at new location by June of 2019 so facility up and running prior to school opening in Sept. 4/18/
