22 Real estate acquisition efforts County has undertaken a long multi-year effort to identify and acquire land required to meet current and long-term ART bus storage and maintenance needs ART Eads Street facility land was acquired in 3 parts: VDOT owned parcels (12/2006) Rental Car parcel (1/2009) VDOT 32 nd St. ROW between parcels (12/2013) August 2015: County retained services of a real estate broker to assist in efforts October 2015: County sent written inquiries to 32 owners of industrial zoned parcels in Arlington meeting specific criteria Six responses: two will keep County in mind if they decide to sell ; two not selling ; two expressed interest, but were eliminated due to long term leases and location. August 2016: County leased the 2.53 acre Shirlington Road site for 7 years as an interim solution for ART bus storage needs. 22

23 23 Opportunities for collaboration Advisory Committee on Transportation Choices The mission of the ACTC is to advise the JCTC on strategies and plans of action that will develop and promote transportation choices for APS students, families, and staff. Joint Committee for Transportation Choices APS and County staff will collaborate to integrate and expand safe, sustainable, and innovative transportation choices for APS students, families, and staff.

Expand viable travel options for students, faculty & staff Coordinate County and APS activities & outreach about sustainable travel Increase rates of alternative modes of transportation to schools while reducing private vehicle use Conduct surveys in 2019 with the opening of four new schools (completed surveys in 2013 and 2016)
