2 THE NEED FOR A NEW BUS GARAGE riders Increased ridership means buses Need for new buses garage And a new bus facility Garages are operating at over-capacity New bus garage required within five years to accommodate increased ridership 540 million total passengers annually 240 million are on buses Some buses serving east-end routes are stored and maintained in west-end garages Extra deadhead time (travel when buses are not in service) adds unwanted wear and tear on buses, shortening bus life span and increasing operating costs Not feasible to expand existing facilities and insufficient capacity 2

31 TYPICAL BUS FREQUENCY - TTC BUS GARAGES WEEKDAY BUS TRAVEL Approximately 75 buses during morning rush hour 7:00am 10:00am Approximately 60 buses between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm 31

33 RECENT SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS Service levels are based on observed ridership levels and TTC Board-approved service standards Service levels are constantly adjusted to meet changes in passenger demand More riders = Increased Service Recent service increases on local routes 57 Midland (2016) Service will be increased in the afternoon peak period, Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding. Service will be increased on this route to meet earlier Sunday morning subway service 42 Cummer (2016) New earlier service will be operated on the 42B (Finch Stn-Kennedy) branch in the early morning on Sunday. Driving time added during weekday peak periods to ensure a more reliable service 33
