13 Segment C Nighttime Work At the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard various street improvements are under way. Temporary overnight lane closures at the intersection will take place until July of Waterline installation and other utility improvements will take place at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and National Boulevard near the Ballona aerial structure and this work is anticipated to be completed by June Nighttime work hours, Monday through Friday: 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. Columns that will support the Venice/Robertson aerial structure and station.

14 Proposed Segment C Nighttime Work In early June 2010, overnight closures will take place near Jefferson Boulevard and National Boulevard to remove false-work from the Ballona aerial structure similar to what took place at the La Brea and La Cienega structures. Various street improvements are scheduled at the intersection of La Cienega Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard to begin in July There will be nighttime lane takes or closures at this intersection. 15 Construction Impact Mitigation Types of Mitigation Measures Watering trucks are used regularly throughout the alignment If noise produced by construction activity exceeds allowable limits, sound blankets and other appropriate measures are implemented Advanced notification of traffic detours and delays will be provided Street sweepers are used regularly to clear debris from paved streets in the construction zone Watering near La Cienega Spraying of soil binder at Jefferson Blvd

16 Construction Impact Mitigation Mitigation Measures for Night Work Site specific noise plans are developed to determine noise impacts and identify mitigation measures before work is submitted for approval On-site noise monitoring is conducted to ensure compliance during noise-generating construction activities Back-up alarms are disabled where practical, and flaggers are used instead to safely direct drivers of trucks and other heavy equipment Sound blankets are installed wherever feasible to buffer construction noise Inspectors are on the site to monitor compliance Hotline number for noise and other complaints:

17 Farmdale Station Benefits Benefits of a Station at Farmdale Avenue New neighborhood station with access to the Expo Line transit system Increased mobility for local residents and Dorsey High School students and staff Train will make a complete stop to pick up and drop off passengers then proceed at a slow speed across the pedestrian crossing and intersection Farmdale Avenue crossing will include traffic signals and state-of-the-art safety features to protect vehicles and pedestrians Improved lighting in the station area and in the intersection Station will include security cameras and will be patrolled by transit officers Secured facility parking with provisions for a LAUSD Transit Security Office New Farmdale Station will be an additional investment in the local community that will feature enhanced security measures as well as additional landscaping and public art

19 Farmdale Station Public Hearing On Tuesday, June 1, 2010 the CPUC is holding a Public Participation Hearing on the Exposition Construction Authority s grade crossing application for Farmdale Avenue near Dorsey High School, which includes the addition of a passenger station. The hearing is designed to provide the public an opportunity to be heard on issues related to the proposed grade crossing. Participants may submit written and oral comments at this meeting. 20 Construction Safety Education EXPO CONSTRUCTION SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM The purpose is to increase public awareness and promote safe practices around light rail construction sites. The program reaches out to students, parents and staff at schools along the alignment. Program includes the following: School-Based Presentations Participation at Community Events Distribution of Safety-Oriented Collateral Materials Construction crew (Flagger) at Exposition and Buckingham

22 Community Outreach A 24-hour hotline phone number has been set up for all construction inquiries and emergencies: (213) 922-EXPO (3976) Community art mural project at the Expo construction field office Team will respond to all construction inquiries as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours. All emergencies will be addressed immediately. Noise complaints will be addressed immediately. Construction notices are distributed throughout adjacent communities prior to the start of new construction activities. Regular project status meetings, elected briefings and stakeholder updates will continue to be held throughout construction and startup of the line.
