1 Meeting Date: April 10, 2018 STAFF REPORT Agency: City of Belmont Staff Contact: Carlos de Melo, Community Development Director, (650) Agenda Title: Agenda Action(s): Caltrain Modernization Program Presentation Recommendation 1) Receive presentation; and 2) Confirm Overhead Contact System (OCS) Electrical Pole Color Selection. Summary The Caltrain Modernization Program (CalMod) includes both electrification and other projects that will upgrade the performance, efficiency, capacity, safety and reliability of Caltrain s service. The electrification project provides the foundation that future CalMod improvements are based on, including full conversion to an electric fleet, platform and station improvements, the extension of service to Downtown San Francisco, and other projects that allow Caltrain to grow and evolve within the Bay Area. The Caltrain right-of-way segment within Belmont is approximately 1.6 miles and the project will include installation of Overhead Contact System (OCS) poles and supportive infrastructure. Tonight s presentation provides an overview of the project, status, and next steps. Staff is also requesting the Council provide feedback on the potential color selection for the OCS poles see Attachment 2 for the currently proposed color choices.
