2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WARNING! DISCONNECT BATTERY BEORE SERVICING. CHARGER INSTALLATION See igure. Open the Battery Compartment Cover (A) and prop up. 2 Connect the Charger Harness (0) to the large two pin connector (B) on the Battery Charger (6) install the Charger Assembly (-9 & 3) as shown. NOTE: The charger assembly sits on the molded housing in the recess and is held in place by Screw () as shown in the detail view. The battery charger power cord (C) and Charger Harness (0) are routed up through the recess between the charger and the solution tank as shown in the detail view. Charger Harness (0) is routed through P-Clamp (3) as shown. 3 Connect the second smaller wiring connector (D) from the Battery Charger to the small three pin connector in the machine harness directly below the battery charger mounting location. NOTE: The connector on the machine harness has a protective plug with a jumper wire which needs to be removed first. 4 Connect the RED Charger Harness wire (E) to the Positive battery terminal and the BLACK Charger Harness wire () to the Negative battery terminal. NOTE: Connect to the front two batteries. Reconnect the batteries and close the Battery Compartment Cover (A). NOTE: The battery charger power cord (C) can be wrapped around the Cord Wrap Bracket (9) when not in use. 6 Refer to the SPECIAL PROGRAMMING section on the next page. 3 SPECIAL PROGRAMMING a) Look in the battery compartment of the machine, and determine the type and size of the batteries that are installed. (or example, Lead-Acid or Wet batteries with 30 AH rating, AGM batteries with 242 AH rating, etc.) b) Enter the Hidden Menus on the machine control panel. I. Press and hold the Scrub On/Off (M) and Vacuum ON/O (Q) Switches simultaneously. II. While holding both switches, turn the Key Switch (A) to the ON position. III. See igure 2. When the Graphic Display () reads, release the two buttons. IV. See igure 2. Press the Speed Decrease Switch (D) once until the 2 nd line of Graphic Display reads 2. BATTERY CHARGER. V. See igure 2. Press the Solution Control Switch (O) and verify that the 3 rd line of the Graphic Display reads NONE, or at least that there are some word(s) on the third line. VI. See igure 2. Press the Speed Increase (E) and/or Speed Decrease (D) Switches as many times as necessary until the battery type and charging algorithm are displayed that match the type of batteries installed in the machine. If you need help to determine this, see chart on last page. VII. See igure 2. Press the Scrub On/Off Switch (M) to lock in your selection. Success will be confirmed by the 3 rd line going away on the Graphic Display (the 3 rd line will now be blank). c) Turn the Key Switch (A) off to exit the Hidden Menus. 4 TEST BATTERY CHARGER OPERATION e) Plug the power cord for the battery charger into the appropriate style electrical outlet. f) See igure 3. After a few seconds of delay, the battery type and charging algorithm selected earlier will be displayed on the Graphic Display () along with a battery icon that has no vertical bars inside of it (NOTE: In this mode, the Graphic Display backlighting will be turned O). g) After a few additional seconds, verify that one vertical bar appears inside the battery icon. This indicates that the charging cycle has begun. As the charging cycle continues, the number of vertical bars will increase to indicate progress. h) When there are vertical bars inside the battery icon, the charging process has completed. This may take several hours depending upon the condition of the batteries before charging. i) Disconnect the power cord from the outlet. After several seconds the Graphic Display will flash and then return to the state it was in before the power cord was originally plugged in. NOTE: The machine Key Switch may be on ON or O during the charging cycle. If left ON, all machine functions will be disabled and the machine will not be allowed to move until the power cord is unplugged from the outlet. IGURE 3 WET 2A 207 Nilfisk, Inc.
