1 SBS Curse Matching Guide Yu may if yu have any dubts r questins Students shuld have at least CGPA f 3.3 if they plan t g fr GEM Explrer r OSL. Students with lwer CGPA can cnsider GEM Discverer Summer Studies Students will nt be allwed t g fr exchange in the semester befre their last semester in NTU (Year 4 Semester 1). Students are required t prepare fr their FYP/PI (Prfessinal Internship) in that semester Basic Principle f Curse Matching Match a Majr-PE with a hst university curse with very similar in cntent (>80%) OR a reasnable level Science curse that SBS des nt ffer (*DO NOT match a Majr-PE with any f the curses similar t Cre) Yu shuld clear yur CORE mdules in NTU. Once yu match t the Majr PE, yu will nt be allwed t take that mdule when yu return frm exchange There is n semester restrictin t the NTU mdule that yu want t match. Yu shuld plan as such that when yu return frm exchange, there are enugh Majr PE chices fr yu. Match a PE with a hst university curse with similar curse type (e.g AHSS - AHSS, STS - STS) Match a UE with any hst university curse utside yur main discipline Match up t 4 Majr PE + 1 ther curse types (PE/UE) The NTU AU is a measure f the student's wrklad assciated with bth class attendance and preparatin. Fr a typical ne-semester curse, the number f AU is calculated as fllws: (a) ne hur f lecture/tutrial per week : 1 AU (13 weeks per semester) (b) three hurs labratry/fieldwrk per week : 1 AU (13 weeks per semester) Yu have t fill up the ALL required infrmatin n the hst university curse infrmatin in the OGEM curse matching prtal befre yu submit t us fr apprval. Generally we will base n the teaching hurs and cntent level t apprve / reject the matching applicatins.

2 Generally fr ETCS credit systems which are different frm NTU AU system where self-reading time is included in the teaching hurs, we will use 2 ECTS = 1 NTU AU. Hst universities (Generally) in Americas 15 credits (eg 5 curses) cnverted t 15 AU in Eurpe 30 ETCS (eg 3 r 4 curses) cnverted t 15 AU in UK 60 Credit pints (5 curses) cnverted t 15 AU in Asia 15 credits (5 curses) cnverted t 15 AU in Oceania 4 r 5 curses (depending n the credit system f the university) cnverted t 15 AU in NTU The recmmended number f credits fr hst universities are fixed regardless whether the curses yu select are Pstgraduate r Undergraduate curses Students are nly allwed t clear up t 15 AU in GEM Explrer/OSL Fee paying. We will nly accept 5 nline curse matching recrds via curse matching system. Please d nt submit mre than 5 recrds If the hst universities are nt able t ffer yu enugh credits/curses t read, yu are expected t verlad when yu are back. This means that yu will nt be able t clear lesser than 15 AU. Yu are advised t visit the hst university website and make sure yu have enugh curses fr backup Yu will be able t update the OGEM curse matching system when yu are in yur hst university. Students with minr shuld nt clear their minr mdules during exchange. T earn yur minr, all yur minr mdules shuld be graded. Credit transfer back frm exchange prgrammes are ungraded.
