Only Car Memry functins are available fr R50/R53 vehicles. Functins which d nt state a specific mdel series in the brief descriptin are available fr all vehicles capable f Car & Key Memry. Due t varying legal stipulatins, there are natinal differences in pssible settings. Vehicles with the same equipment but f a different natinal variant may have a different range f pssible settings. Mrever, the specific requirements f vehicle insurance cmpanies in different markets and legal stipulatins must be taken int accunt when making settings. Factry settings als vary frm cuntry t cuntry. The vehicle is prgrammed at the factry in accrdance with the central encding cde (ZCS) / vehicle rder (VO). 1.1 Car Memry - Anti-theft system Interir mvement detectr nt Tilt alarm sensr nt Activatin/deactivatin remte cntrl lcks and remte cntrl The interir mvement detectr mnitring functin can be permanently deactivated. This may be advisable if animals frequently remain in the vehicle. Nte insurance requirements! E46, E52 - nt E38, E39, E53 The tilt alarm sensr mnitring functin can be permanently deactivated. This functin may be advisable if the vehicle is frequently parked in a duplex garage. Nte insurance requirements! E46, E52 - nt E38, E39, E53 It is nly pssible t activate/deactivate the anti-theft alarm system with the remte cntrl r with the remte cntrl and the lcks. E46, E52 - nt E38, E39, E53, R50, R53 If "" is selected, the lcking r unlcking f the central lcking system f a vehicle withut anti-theft alarm system is verified with an ptical r acustic signal. The ptical r acustic signal is dependent n the respective natinal versin. This setting is effective when the vehicle is lcked r unlcked either at the lck r with the remte cntrl. E38, E39 frm 09/99, E46, E53 - nt E52, R50, R53 Please nte: On E46 vehicles, the fault memry entry "07 Anti-theft alarm system" is stred in the basic mdule. 1.2 Car Memry - Central lcking system Interir lighting, remte cntrl nt Unlck rear windw frm the inside The interir lighting is switched n if the car is lcked and the lck buttn n the key is pressed. If the vehicle is lcked a secnd time within abut 15 secnds, the radi interir mvement detectr and tilt alarm sensr are deactivated. 3 nt If the setting "" is selected, the rear windw is unlcked via a switch in the (driver's side) ftwell. If the setting "nt " is selected, the rear lid is unlcked. Operate by remte cntrl with a lng press f the unlck buttn n the key. R50, R53 The vehicle will autmatically lck again apprx. 2 minutes after a single inadvertent unlcking (when n dr r hatch was pened afterwards). E38 and E39 frm 09/99, E46, E52, E53, R50, R53 The vehicle is autmatically lcked after pulling away. Drs can be unlcked at any time frm the inside. This setting is effective when the drs are mechanically pened at the lck. Fr setting t be effective fr key with remte cntrl, please refer t 2.1 Key Memry - Central lcking system. After switching ff the engine, the vehicle is autmatically unlcked R50, R53. When the vehicle is lcked, the driver's and frnt passenger-side drs can be unlcked frm the inside by pressing the central lcking buttn. The drs can nly be pened frm the inside. The vehicle must first be unlcked with the key befre it can be lcked. Here, it makes n difference whether unlcking is carried ut manually r via remte cntrl. If fitted, the anti-theft alarm will be triggered n pening. E46, E52 - nt E38, E39, E53, R50, R53 The first time the vehicle is unlcked, nly the driver's dr is unlcked. The remaining drs are nt unlcked until the vehicle is unlcked a secnd time. This functin nly applies t manual unlcking via the lck. 4 Easy Entry / selective central lcking system Easy Entry selective central lcking system nt The Easy Entry facility can be set t r nt. This setting is effective when the vehicle is unlcked manually via the lck. Fr the setting t be effective using a key with remte cntrl, please refer t 2.1 Key Memry - Central lcking system. Only E46 Cupé with basic mdule up t sftware versin SW1.4 Easy Entry facility r selective central lcking system can be selected. Similarly, bth functins can be deactivated. E38, E39, E46, E53 - nt E46 Cnvertible, E52, R50, R53 When this setting is, the hinged windws are nt pened when cnvenient pening is effected with the remte cntrl. This depends upn the "Remte cntrl cnvenient pening" setting being. E46 Cupé with basic mdule frm sftware versin SW1.5 The windws can be pened by peratin f the dr lck - hld the key in the pening psitin. Nt R50, R53 The sliding/tilt sunrf can be clsed by pressing the buttn t the frnt. Use is made f the ne-tuch cntrl functin. The sliding/tilt sunrf can be pened by pressing the buttn t the back. Use is made f the ne-tuch cntrl functin. The sliding/tilt sunrf can be raised by pressing the buttn upwards. Use is made f the ne-tuch cntrl functin. E38, E46, R50, R53 - nt E39, E53 The windws can be pened by pressing the central switch beynd the trip pint. E46 Cnvertible, E Car Memry - Lighting Interir lighting The interir lighting is switched n when manual ON when unlcking unlcking is used. 6 Interir lighting ON when terminal R is "ff", light previusly "n" nt Interir lighting Sft ON/OFF nt Exterir lighting Daytime driving lights nt Exterir lighting Fllw-me-hme lights nt The interir lighting is nly switched n when terminal R is "ff" after driving with lights n. E46, E52 - nt E38, E39, E53, R50, R53 Dimmed interir lighting is switched n and ff. Nt R50, R53 The daytime driving lights are switched n as sn as the ignitin is switched n and the light switch is turned t "psitin 2". Nte cuntry-specific differences! If terminal R is "ff", the driving lights are switched n fr the perid f time selected when the headlight flasher is pulled. The fllwing settings are pssible: nt, 40s, 90s, 150s and 240s. (E38, E39, E46, E52, E53, R50, R53). Fr hw t activate the functin n R50, R53 vehicles, please refer t the Owner's Handbk. 1.5 Car Memry - Windscreen wipers Rain sensr nt Switch dwn when statinary nt Rain-light sensr sensitive less sensitive The rain sensr can be deactivated. E46 - nt E38, E39, E52, E53, R50, R53 The system switches frm speed 1 t intermittent peratin r frm speed 2 t speed 1 when the vehicle is statinary. The respnse f the rain-light sensr can be adjusted t be sensitive r less sensitive. E39, E46, E53, nt R50, R Car Memry - Cruise cntrl Activate nt Active Cruise Cntrl (ACC) desired speed current runded The cruise cntrl can be activated either via a switch n the instrument munt r via the buttn n the multifunctin steering wheel. E38, E39 with switch n instrument munt If the setting "current" is selected, the current speed is adpted as the desired speed the first time the ACC is activated with the set/accelerate buttn. The display is made with the next-higher LED. If the setting "runded" is selected, the speed f the vehicle when the ACC is activated is runded up t the next multiple f 10 km/h r 5 mph and adpted as the desired speed. R50, R53 nly 1.8 Car Memry - Heating / air cnditining / ventilatin Key selective nt Flaps Air recirculatin flaps memry nt The Key Memry can be activated r deactivated fr the air-cnditining system. Using the "" setting, temperature and blwer settings, and air cnditining functins (AUC, air recirculatin, flaps, defrst) are stred fr each key individually. E39, E53 - nt E38, E46, E52, R50, R53 Air recirculatin is retained after restarting the engine. The functin is nt dependent n the key used. E38, E39, E46, E53 - nt E52, R50, R53 Cling utput nrmal ht cuntry Autmatic heated rear windw nt The air cnditiner cntrl can be set t nrmal r as per ht cuntry variant. If the ht cuntry setting is selected, mre cling utput is available due t apprpriate blwer utput and flap cntrl. E38, E39, E46 - nt E52, E53, R50 The functin t autmatically switch the heated rear windw n at an ambient temperature f less than 3.5 degrees Celsius can be set t r nt. E Car Memry - Seat/mirrr memry Seat psitin when car is unlcked when dr is pened nt The seat is mved t the stred psitin when the vehicle is unlcked using the key with remte cntrl r after the driver's dr is pened. A key-specific seat adjustment is nt pssible if "nt " is selected. On E38, E39 and E53 vehicles, nt nly the seat but als the mirrrs and the steering clumn, if the latter can be electrically adjusted, change their psitins. On E46 vehicles, the mirrrs are adjusted n vehicles frm prductin perid 09/99 (Mdel Year 00). Please nte: Seat psitining is interrupted by pressing the lck buttn n the key with remte cntrl. 8 The psitin f the passenger-side exterir mirrr fr the autmatic parking functin can be stred fr each key individually. If "" is selected and the mirrr adjustment switch set t "passenger-side mirrr", the passenger-side mirrr will autmatically be mved t the key-specific psitin when reverse gear is engaged. If "" is selected and the mirrr adjustment switch set t "driver's-side mirrr", the autmatic parking functin is deactivated. If "nt " is selected and the mirrr adjustment switch set t "driver's-side mirrr", the passenger-side mirrr is autmatically adjusted t the lwest pssible psitin when reverse gear is engaged. If "nt " is selected and the mirrr adjustment switch set t "passenger-side mirrr", the autmatic parking functin is deactivated. 9 The ice warning can be set t r nt. Active: If the ambient temperature drps belw abut + 3 C, the acustic ice warning sunds and the ambient temperature display flashes fr a few secnds. The display then reverts t the previus display unit. Nt : If the ambient temperature drps belw abut + 3 C, the acustic ice warning sunds. The utside temperature is then permanently displayed. By pressing the steering clumn switch a different display unit is btained. Only E46 Cupé Please nte: The selectin f the setting "Easy Entry" is nly pssible fr the E46 Cupé with basic mdule sftware versin SW1.5 r higher. 2.2 Key Memry - Heating / air cnditining / ventilatin Blwer Setting blwer speed higher In autmatic peratin, the nrmal blwer utput can be increased r decreased. E46 - nt E38, E39, E52, E53, R50, R53 nrmal lwer Vent flaps Ventilatin pen in warming-up phase yes During the warming-up phase, the ventilatin flaps are pen r clsed. E46 - nt E38, E39, E52, E53, R50, R53 n Vent flaps After terminal 15 "ON" yes n Manual cntrl f the ventilatin flaps using the 3 buttns n the air cnditining cntrl panel can be activated directly by switching n the ignitin.
