2 BPC955 V0 AMF Genset Cntrller 1. Intrductin The unit is a cntrller fr mid engine Gensets with Autmatic Mains Failure (AMF) functinality sld in the private market segment. The unit incrprates Manual, Autstart Start and AMF Autstart initiated start and stp sequencing, mnitrs engine and alternatr perating parameters and prvides bth engine and alternatr prtectin, in a single integrated package. The Mains and Alternatr status and perating parameters are shwn by scrlling screens n a backlit Graphics LCD. Alarms and warning are als shwn n the LCD and supplemented by status LEDs and a sunder utput. The unit prvides cmprehensive mnitring f the engine perating parameters and prvides autmatic shutdwn f the set in the event f damaging cnditins. In additin t standard engine safety prtectins the unit mnitrs battery vltage, battery status, charging cnditins, clant level and temperature, fuel level, canpy temperature, il pressure and temperature, engine speed and perating hurs. On the Alternatr side, the unit mnitrs and displays 1 r 3 phase vltages, fr L-N and L-L. It mnitrs the perating frequency, 3 individual phase currents, Average PF, KVA, KVAr fr each phase and Alternatr ttal. It maintains 3 phase Pwer meter functins which cmprise, Ttal Mains KWH, Ttal Alternatr KWH and Ttal Alternatr KVArH, The alternatr incrprates several prtectin features which include, Over-lad, Over-current, Lad imbalance, and IDMT prtectin. In the factry envirnment, the unit is cnfigured by clning thrugh a Persnal Cmputer (PC) system. Field specific parameters can be adjusted by using the frnt panel buttns and an inbuilt menu system. 2. 11 Buttn Functin Descriptin Test Mde Indicates that the system is in test mde Initial Pwer Up Ready On pwer up, the unit displays the Lg. The unit then displays the Serial number, Applicatin Cde and Firmware versin. After the initialisatin prcess is cmplete, the unit waits fr a Start request (Start Buttn, AMF failure r Aut Start Input), during which time it will display READY. When the unit is in READY all measuring systems and display systems are turned n. The unit remains n fr 1 minute and if the genset is nt started in that time the unit ges int sleep mde t cnserve battery pwer. In this mde the unit wakes peridically t check fr any unusual cnditins and if it finds nne it ges back t sleep, therwise it alarms accrdingly. Where awake mde has been selected the system parameters are cntinuusly scrlled. Any activity n the buttns immediately wakes the unit and the apprpriate actin is taken. Pressing the STOP buttn while the unit is asleep immediately wakes the unit and scrlls all engine and generatr parameter screens. This allws reading f battery vltage, fuel level, run hurs KWH etc. Manual Operatin T start the genset When the display is shwing READY, press the start START buttn mmentarily t start the genset. The READY state implies the engine and generatr parameters are as expected fr a statinary genset. If the cnditins are nt as expected, an apprpriate warning r alarm is displayed n the LCD. The warning r alarm cnditin must be cleared befre the genset can be started. The unit will perfrm the starting sequence as fllws: FUEL-ON. If ETR (Energise T Run) fuel cntrl is cnfigured, the unit will cntrl the fuel utput and display FUEL ON and the prceeds t the CRANK state. Fr ETS (Energise T Stp) the sequence des nt activate the utput but prceeds after a shrt delay t the CRANK state. CRANK. The crank utput is activated and the display shws Cranking with a cunt dwn time. The crank utput is deactivated when the unit has detected a speed signal abve the crank discnnect speed specified in the settings, r has detected il pressure abve the minimum il pressure specified in the settings r Excitatin is present If the genset des nt start, the LCD will shw Stpping, cntrl the Fuel and Crank utputs accrdingly, and return t READY. 12 If the unit lses pwer due t battery vltage drp during cranking, and the engine fires, then n regaining adequate battery vltage, the unit will cntinue t allw the engine t run. This typically ONLY happens with ETS fuel systems. RUN UP. When the engine starts, the display shws Run Up with a cunt dwn in secnds. This allws the engine measurement system t stabilise. Over speed and lss f speed signal are the nly parameters checked during Run Up. WARM UP Allws the engine t stabilise at full speed befre ging n lad. Oil pressure and Overspeed are mnitred. The display shws Warm Up with a cuntdwn time. RUNNING The display shws Running. Operating parameters are scrlled nt the display. T stp the genset Push the STOP buttn briefly. The unit will perfrm a stpping sequence as fllws: STOPPING The display will shw Stpping with a cuntdwn time. If ETR fuel cntrl has been selected the Fuel utput will be de-energised. If ETS fuel cntrl has been selected then the Fuel utput will be energised fr the Max Fuel Time r until the engine stps. The stpping prcess will retry if the engine fails t stp the first time. During the ETS Rest perid the Fuel utput is deactivated. The fuel utput is cntrlled until the engine stps rtating and il pressure decays. If the Oil Pressure has nt decayed by the end f the Max Fuel Time, the fuel utput is deactivated and the cntrller waits until the il pressure has decayed, r fr the remainder f the Stp Time. The speed must remain at zer and the il pressure must be belw the alarm set pint fr the Stp Rest Time befre the engine is cnsidered stpped. If the genset des nt stp then the alarm utput is activated and STOP FAIL is displayed n the LCD. READY The engine has stpped and is ready t start again as required. 7. Display Operatin When the genset is running When the genset is starting and stpping, the display shws the state f the sequence tgether with the time remaining befre the next state will cmmence. Once the genset is fully running r if the genset is stpped and in READY, the running parameters are displayed. This includes generatr and engine parameters simultaneusly n separate displays. 16 In the event f abnrmal perating cnditins the unit will issue a warning r an alarm and shut the genset dwn as required. The LCD shws an apprpriate message indicating the nature f the cnditin. T draw peratr attentin t the cnditin the flashing general alarm LED is used. In mst cases, Warnings d nt stp the genset and are self resetting. Alarms will nrmally stp the genset and require the peratr t clear the alarm by pressing the Stp r Accept buttn. The genset can nt be started if an alarm exists. Warnings are indicated by slw flashing f the alarm LED and displaying the apprpriate message n the LCD as fllws. Alarms are indicated by fast flashing f the ALARM LED and displaying the apprpriate message n the bttm LCD. Check the Oil filter system is nt blcked. Check the engine is nt running with a failed speed sensing system. The emergency stp input has been activated. Deactivate the emergency stp input, then press the stp buttn t clear this alarm. The canpy dr input has been activated and the canpy dr unexpectedly pen The Fire Alarm input has been activated. The genset will be shutdwn as an emergency stp. Investigate the surce f the alarm then press the stp buttn t clear this alarm Alarms are indicated by fast flashing f the alarm LED and displaying the apprpriate message n the LCD. Investigate the surce f the alarm then press the stp buttn t clear this alarm If the Stp buttn is pressed while running in aut mde, it is cnsidered an emergency stp and the unit will stp the engine and enter the Autstart Lckut state. This prevents the engine frm starting again, while the Autstart input remains activated. The Autstart Lckut state is self resetting upn deactivatin f the Autstart input. If the engine was stpped fr a real emergency, then the emergency stp switch shuld als be activated t ensure the engine will nt start inadvertently. If the unit is in the Autstart Lckut state, the engine can be restarted by pressing the Start buttn. This is nt cnsidered a manual start but rather a release frm the Autstart Lckut cnditin. The cntactrs will be cntrlled in the apprpriate way.
