All persns wh will install, use, r care fr this prduct must be familiar with this material. The lad must be remved frm the drum saddle befre any wrk is perfrmed n the drum carrier/rtatr. Ensure that all infrmatin / safety / warning labels stay in place and are legible. D nt use the drum carrier/rtatr if any damage, unusual nise, r unusual mtin is bserved; if it is in need f repairs, r; if it seems t be malfunctining. Ntify yur supervisr r maintenance persnnel if yu ntice anything ut f the rdinary. Always watch the drum it s cntents carefully when the drum carrier/rtatr is in peratin. Befre transprting the drum carrier/rtatr, raise the frk trucks frks high enugh that the prduct and its lad are raised ff the grund slightly. Transprt the drums as clse t the grund as is pssible withut letting them drag. The drum carrier/rtatr is intended fr use nly with adequately-rated frk trucks r cunterbalanced pallet trucks being perated n imprved, cmpacted, and level surfaces. D nt use brake fluid r jack ils in the hydraulic system. If il is needed, use an anti-wear hydraulic il with a viscsity grade f 150 SUS at 100 F, (ISO C), r Dexrn transmissin fluid. Cntact the manufacturer fr any needed MSDS infrmatin. D nt perfrm any mdificatins t the drum carrier/rtatr withut the manufacturer s apprval. Failure t receive authrizatin fr changes t the equipment culd vid the warranty. Maintenance and repairs are t be dne nly by persnnel qualified t perfrm the required wrk. Cnsideratin will nt be given fr warranty repair charges withut prir written authrizatin by the manufacturer. RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS It is pssible that this prduct culd incur damage during transit. Inspect the unit clsely when it arrives. If yu see evidence f damage r rugh handling t either the packaging r t the prduct when it is being unladed, immediately make a nte f it n the Bill Of Lading! It is imprtant that yu remve the prduct s packaging upn its arrival t ensure that there is n cncealed damage r t enable a timely claim with the carrier fr freight damage. 2 0317 DCR-205-DC, MANUAL MAINTENANCE, INSPECTION, & SAFETY CHECKS DCR-205-XX-DC Warning: Care shuld be taken t identify all ptential hazards and cmply with applicable safety prcedures befre beginning wrk. Only individuals qualified t understand the mechanical design aspects and the assciated hazards f this type f equipment shuld attempt t trubleshting and/r repair it. The mdel DCR-205-xx-DC drum carrier/rtatr is equipped with tw (2) 12 vlt, 35 ampere-hur, sealed, maintenance-free AGM-type batteries t prvide a 24 VDC pwer supply t the rtatin system s drive mtr and mtr cntrl cmpnents. The unit is supplied with an n-bard 24V, 3 ampere battery charger which will typically fully recharge the batteries in abut eight (8) hurs. The charger is pwered by attaching the cnnectr end f mst any three-prng extensin crd t the flanged inlet lcated in the tp f the gray plastic battery department cver. The charger can be left n indefinitely withut causing harm t the batteries. D nt use an extensin crd smaller than 18 gauge, r lnger than fifty (50) feet, t pwer the battery charger. The tuchpad lcated n the frnt f the gray battery cmpartment cver indicates the apprximate state f charge f the batteries, and is shwn as a percentage f full charge based n the batteries cmbined vltage. When the batteries are fully charged, apprximately 200 full raise/lwer cycles can be expected befre the batteries will need t be recharged. Charge the batteries vernight at least every tw (2) weeks even if it is nt in use. If it will nt be used fr several weeks r lnger, it is advisable t remve the batteries frm the machine. Inspect daily fr: 1.) Damage t the prduct s securing chain r web strap. 2.) Damage r structural defrmatin t the structural members. 3.) Unusual nise r binding, r evidence theref. Inspect mnthly fr: 1.) Pivt pint wear. 2.) Lseness and wear f the gears, sprckets, chains, hinge pints, cmpnent munts, etc. 3.) Integrity f the retaining hardware n all rllers and n all pivt pint pins. 4.) Prper functining f drum saddle s lcking mechanism. 5.) Unusual nises r mvement during peratin. 6.) All the infrmatin/safety/warning labels being in place and in gd cnditin. 7.) The need t clean ff dirt and debris. Test the battery vltage. In rder t get an accurate indicatin f the batteries state f charge, the reading must be taken at least tw hurs after the charger has been turned ff after having cmpleted a full (8 hur) charge cycle. The batteries will read vlts when fully charged. With the exceptin f the gearmtr, lubricate all f the gear-train grease fittings nce a mnth with a gd grade f industrial grease. Otherwise, peridically lubricate the cradle hinges, the drum saddle s ratchet and pawl mechanism, and the chains. Yearly inspectin: If pssible, test the prduct with a full lad. Afterward, inspect fr: 1.) Cracks at weld jints. 2.) Defrmatin r bending f any parts, r wrinkled r cracked paint which culd indicate the same. VESTIL MFG. CO. 2

3 0317 DCR-205-DC, MANUAL OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS DCR-205-XX-DC Cnsult ANSI B56.1 fr the wner s / user s respnsibilities regarding the peratin, care, and maintenance f this machine. Ensure that all emplyees invlved in the peratin f this drum carrier/rtatr understand and fllw these instructins! The standard mdel DCR-205-xx-DC is suitable fr transprting standard clsed 55-galln steel drums in mst nn- Classified indr and utdr lcatins. It is intended t be used t transprt and dump nn-classified liquids. Attaching the drum carrier/rtatr t the frks f a lift truck: The lad rating, in punds, is shwn n the machine dataplate lcated n the frame f the drum carrier/rtatr. It indicates the net capacity f the drum carrier/rtatr when dumping a full liquid-filled drum. Fr drums that are nly half-full, the net capacity that the unit will rtate drps t 500 lbs. The truck s frks must be adjusted t have at least 24½ between them, and ne frk must be lcked in place t the truck mast s frk carriage. Insert the frk truck s frks int the frk pckets until the ends f the frks cntact the drum carrier/rtatr s frk tube end caps. Open the drum carrier/rtatr s saddle and secure it pen by attaching the hk cradle chain t????? With its frks near the flr, drive the lift truck frward until the back side f the drum saddle is against the side f the drum. The saddle shuld be psitined at r just abve the center f the drum, but nt against ne f the drum s rings. Clse the drum saddle s gate and secure the chain t the chain slt. Lck the drum in place by rtating the drum saddle s gate handle 90 clckwise. Grasp and shake the tp f the drum t ensure that it is securely held. D nt exceed a rate f three feet per secnd (2 mph) when transprting drums with the drum carrier/rtatr. Warning: D nt exceed the drum carrier/rtatr s lad ratings. Injury t persnnel, r permanent damage t the drum carrier/rtatr, the drum, r the drum s cntents culd result frm exceeding the listed capacity. Operatin f the drum carrier/rtatr: On a daily basis, inspect the safety chain r web strap that is used t secure the prduct t the frk truck s mast. Warning: Keep all persnnel clear f the drum carrier/rtatr when it is in peratin. Be certain n part f any persn r bject is under any part f the drum befre lwering it r dumping its cntents. Cautin: Always watch the drum it s cntents carefully when the drum carrier/rtatr is in peratin. Cautin: D nt use the drum carrier/rtatr if any damage, unusual nise, r unusual mtin is bserved; if it is in need f repairs, r; if it seems t be malfunctining. Ntify yur supervisr r maintenance persnnel if yu ntice anything ut f the rdinary. The mdel DCR-205-xx-DC drum carrier/rtatr is perated by means f a pushbuttn cntrl cnnected t a ciled retractile crd. The speed is cntrlled by a tuchpad lcated n the frnt f the gray plastic battery department cver. Manual peratin: The drum carrier/rtatr can als be perated manually using the crank handle that came with the unit. T use the hand crank, the chain cnnecting the gearmtr t the drive shaft will need t be remved, and the hllw shaft f the crank handle is t be inserted nt the square end f the drive shaft. Our warranty bligatin is t prvide a replacement fr a defective riginal part if the part is cvered by the warranty, after we receive a prper request frm the warrantee (yu) fr warranty service. Wh may request service? Only a warrantee may request service. Yu are a warrantee if yu purchased the prduct frm Vestil r frm an authrized distributr AND Vestil has been fully paid. What is an riginal part? An riginal part is a part used t make the prduct as shipped t the warrantee. What is a prper request? A request fr warranty service is prper if Vestil receives: 1) a phtcpy f the Custmer Invice that displays the shipping date; AND 2) a written request fr warranty service including yur name and phne number. What is cvered under the warranty? After Vestil receives yur request fr warranty service, an authrized representative will cntact yu t determine whether yur claim is cvered by the warranty. Befre prviding warranty service, Vestil may require yu t send the entire prduct, r just the defective part r parts, t its facility in Angla, IN. The warranty cvers defects in the fllwing riginal dynamic cmpnents: mtrs, hydraulic pumps, electrnic cntrllers, switches and cylinders. It als cvers defects in riginal parts that wear under nrmal usage cnditins ( wearing parts ), such as bearings, hses, wheels, seals, brushes, and batteries. Hw lng is the warranty perid? The warranty perid fr riginal dynamic cmpnents is 90 days. Fr wearing parts, the warranty perid is 90 days. The warranty perids begin n the date when Vestil ships the prduct t the warrantee. If the prduct was purchased frm an authrized distributr, the perids begin when the distributr ships the prduct. Vestil may, at its sle discretin, extend the warranty perids fr prducts shipped frm authrized distributrs by up t 30 days t accunt fr shipping time. If a defective part is cvered by the warranty, what will Vestil d t crrect the prblem? Vestil will prvide an apprpriate replacement fr any cvered part. An authrized representative f Vestil will cntact yu t discuss yur claim. What is nt cvered by the warranty? 1. Labr; 2. Freight; 3. Occurrence f any f the fllwing, which autmatically vids the warranty: Prduct misuse; Negligent peratin r repair; Crrsin r use in crrsive cnditins; Inadequate r imprper maintenance; Damage sustained during shipping; Accidents invlving the prduct; Unauthrized mdificatins: DO NOT mdify the prduct IN ANY WAY withut first receiving written authrizatin frm Vestil.
