This is dependent n the variables detailed belw. The fllwing cnditins will prevent an autmatic engine stp: A Shift paddle has been used t select a gear. The external temperature is less than apprximately 0 C (32 F). The external temperature is mre than apprximately 40 C (104 F). The engine and /r the gearbx has nt reached perating temperature. The driver s seat belt is nt fastened. The Climate Cntrl system requires the engine t be running. Fr example, in Defrst mde. The battery charge is t lw t maintain all electrical accessries Fr example radi, air cnditining, seat heating. The bnnet is pen. T turn the system ff, press the ECO switch. The fllwing cnditins will trigger an autmatic engine restart: The battery charge is t lw t maintain all electrical accessries withut engine running. Fr example radi, air cnditining, seat heating etc. If the ECO switch is pressed while an autmatic engine stp is in prgress. NOTE: Driver Exit is a feature which is available nly when Intelligent Stp/Start is ON. T prevent the vehicle frm being inadvertently left in a driveable cnditin, the vehicle detects when a driver is nt present and autmatically turns the ignitin ff. If Drive (D) r Sprt (S) is selected, the Driver exit feature turns the vehicle's ignitin ff if the driver's seat belt is unbuckled and the brake pedal is released. If Neutral (N) r Park (P) is selected, the Driver exit feature turns the vehicle's ignitin ff if the driver's seat belt is unbuckled. If the driver s seat belt is unbuckled when the engine is running in Reverse (R), it remains running t make sure that the driver is aware that the vehicle is in a driveable cnditin.

8 3.3 Transmissin Explain: Drive, Sprt and Manual shifts JaguarDrive Selectr and paddle peratin Ensure the custmer understands the difference between selecting Sprt and Drive. In Sprt, the gear change pints are altered t prvide later up-shifts and sharper dwn-shifts. When the vehicle is driven in an extremely sprty style, dwn-shifts may drp tw gears at nce. The paddles can als be used in D. T revert t Autmatic mde, hld the + paddle fr apprximately tw secnds. The transmissin autmatically reverts after a shrt perid f steady driving withut use f the paddle. When the vehicle cmes t rest and the ignitin is switched ff the transmissin will autmatically select P regardless f its psitin befre this actin. Nte: if at any pint when maneuvring the vehicle slwly the dr is accidently pened the transmissin will select P if it is safe t d s. If specified pint ut the benefits f the new ZF 6-speed manual gearbx; Uses a cmpact mechanical pump prviding lubricant nly where it s required, reducing drag lsses. 10kg lighter than the autmatic equivalents. Features a a dual-mass flywheel fr imprved NVH 3.4 Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Explain: Operatin f EPB (Electric Parking Brake) The EPB autmatically releases n drive away (when a gear is selected and the thrttle is perated). The EPB may be manually applied and released using the switch n the centre cnsle. In an Emergency nly, the EPB can be applied with the vehicle in mtin by pulling up the switch. This actin causes a harsh sund and a warning n the Instrument Cluster. This is nt a recmmended prcedure. It is recmmended that the parking brake be manually applied nly when vehicle is statinary. T apply the parking brake, pull up n the switch. T disengage it, press the ft brake and push dwn n the switch. After setting ACC, the Engine, Brake and Transmissin mdules will cntrl the speed and distance between the vehicles. ACC incrprates Queue Assist (QA) with Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB). QA fllws the vehicle ahead t a standstill and is intended fr use in lines f traffic n majr rads where minimal steering is required. IEB uses the radar unit f the ACC system t detect mving vehicles clse ahead. When a cllisin risk is detected, an audible warning is given and the brake system prepared fr manual braking. If the driver des nt apply the brakes, the IEB applies the brakes up t maximum pressure. NOTE: The purpse f IEB is t reduce the impact speed when a cllisin becmes unavidable. Active Speed Limiter (ASL) allws a speed limit which the driver des nt wish t exceed t be set by using the Cruise Cntrl switches. The systems (ASL/ACC) cannt be used simultaneusly. The ASL indicatr will illuminate when ASL is active.

10 3.6 Driving Aids Explain the peratin and set up: Traffic Sign Recgnitin, Lane Departure Warning and Head Up Display The Traffic Sign Recgnitin system uses a frward facing camera t detect rad signs and variable verhead signs which it displays in the message centre. Speed limit infrmatin frm the navigatin system will be displayed fr rads with n signage. The system has three basic functins: Speed limit detectin - a crrespnding sign is displayed in the message centre. Vehicle speed greater than the detected speed limit - a flashing red ring arund the speed limit sign will be displayed in the message centre. N vertaking zne - if a n vertaking sign is detected the system will als display a crrespnding sign in the message centre. The system may prvide false infrmatin if: Travelling in adverse weather cnditins (heavy fg, rain, snw etc.) Signage is cncealed r cvered Driving twards very bright lights Windscreen area in frnt f the camera is cvered (sticker, snw, mud etc.) Passing vehicles that are displaying speed limit signs (bus, lrry) The Lane Departure Warning system uses a frward facing camera lcated in the base f the rear view mirrr. If the vehicle crsses either f the lane markings that the vehicle is travelling in withut the activatin f the apprpriate indicatr, the system will alert the driver via haptic feedback thrugh the steering wheel and graphical displays in the message centre. The system can be switched n and ff via a hard key r in the Vehicle Set-up menu in the Instrument Cluster. Sensitivity is als adjusted within this menu. The system has sme limitatins: Speed must be between 50km/h (31mph) and 150km/h (93mph) Lane must be wider than 2.5m (8.2ft) Nt active in ff-rad cnditins The perfrmance f the Lane Departure Warning system can be affected by: Travelling in adverse weather cnditins (heavy fg, rain, snw etc.) Driving twards very bright lights Wrn, damaged r temprary lane markings (rad wrks) Driving very clse t anther vehicle The Head Up Display is a new laser system, able t prject varius vehicle data nt the windscreen in driver s line f sight. The system supprts the fllwing data, dependent n features being fitted t the vehicle: Rad Speed Gear Psitin Turn-by-Turn Navigatin Traffic Sign Recgnitin Identified speed limit Cruise Cntrl Set-Speed ACC Status (including warnings) The display can be persnalised (ptins, psitin and brightness) via vehicle Set-up menu in the Instrument Cluster.

11 3.6 Driving Aids cntinued: Explain: Autnmus Emergency Braking The New Jaguar XE ffers as standard an emergency braking system using an innvative stere digital camera system. Munted next t the rear view mirrr, the frward facing cameras capture a view f the rad ahead which is analysed by a sphisticated n-bard cmputer the use f stere cameras enables the system t calculate the distance f an bject frm the car. Operatinal between speeds f 5 and 80 km/h (3 and 50mph), the camera system is designed t detect bjects which culd create the risk f a cllisin. In the event f a cllisin risk, the driver is alerted by a visual and audible warning signal. If a cllisin is judged t be unavidable, a driver warning will be given and the system will autmatically apply an emergency braking pressure level. The system is designed t help avid cllisins at speeds less than 50km/h (30mph), and t mitigate the severity f an impact at speeds less than 80km/h (50mph). NOTE: AEB can be disabled via the Driving Features menu in the Instrument Cluster. AEB is active again n the next ignitin cycle. 3.7 All Surface Prgress Cntrl (ASPC) Demnstrate and Explain: All Surface Prgress Cntrl ASPC is an all-rad speed cntrl functin which wrks in the frward and reverse directin. It ffers the driver a speed based cntrl where a desired vehicle speed can be set frm current speed r frm rest withut any pedal inputs being required by the driver nce the brake is released. The feature ffers enhanced functins t cntrl slip and t imprve launch and driving tractin. It will allw the inexperienced driver t utilise the ttal capability f the vehicle. The peratinal speed range is 1.8kph t 30kph. ASPC uses the brakes and pwertrain as required t maintain the set speed. It is cntrlled via the cruise cntrl switches and the pedals. The ASPC feature is enabled/disabled by the driver via a switch in the centre cnsle. Frm statinary, brake held, driver selects the set speed using the +buttn. On brake pedal release, the vehicle mves twards set speed. In mtin, the driver selects the set speed using the +buttn (r Resume), which by default will match the current speed. Whilst ASPC is n, the driver can verride by ne f the fllwing: Thrttle Pedal. Driver can verride with thrttle similar t cruise cntrl t raise the speed but nt changing the ASPC set speed. On release f the thrttle the vehicle will return t the ASPC set speed. Brake pedal. Driver can verride with light braking and mdify the vehicle speed, n release f the brake pedal ASPC will cntrl t the driver selected speed withut cancelling ASPC. Hwever, a firm press f the brake will cancel ASPC drive functin. Cruise Cntrl Steering Wheel Munted Cntrls (Set/Increase Speed, Decrease Speed, Resume and Cancel). NOTE: The driver s seat belt must be buckled and all f the drs must be cmpletely clsed t enable the feature.

12 3.8 Park Assist Demnstrate and Explain: Parallel/Perpendicular/Parking Exit, 360 Park Distance Cntrl (PDC), Reverse Traffic Detectin (RTD) Park Assist is a driving aid nly. Due care and attentin must be taken during parking maneuvres. Park Assist may nt detect: Mving bjects until they are dangerusly clse. Sme bstructins such as narrw psts and small bjects clse t the grund. Sme bjects with dark, nn-reflective surfaces. T activate, press the Park Assist buttn while driving frward at less than 30km/h (18mph) and at a distance f m ( ft) between the vehicle and the line f parked vehicles. When activated, Park Assist searches fr a space n the passenger side. T search n the driver s side, signal a turn in that directin. Repeated presses n the Park Assist buttn will activate Perpendicular Parking r Parking Exit. If specified, the 360 PDC is activated autmatically: When Drive (D) is selected frm Park (P) r a frward gear is selected frm neutral n a manual transmissin. If the vehicle speed falls belw 10km/h (6mph). When Reverse gear is selected. The Parking aid buttn will illuminate t infrm the driver that the system is active. T cancel the Parking aid system press the buttn. RTD is a feature that can be specified t aid parking maneuvres. It prvides additinal warnings via the rear view camera screen, a flashing icn in the relevant exterir mirrr and an audible warning if the presence f a mving vehicle is detected. RTD is active nly in Reverse and nly alerts n appraching vehicles which meet a three secnds r less time t cllisin. NOTE: RTD is a standalne system but can nly be specified with Blind Spt Mnitr as it utilises radar and nt the rear Park Assist sensrs. 3.9 Tyres Explain: Where t find tyre infrmatin and hw t check Stress the Imprtance f regular checks n pressures and fr abnrmal wear.

13 3.10 Tyre Pressure Mnitring System (TPMS) Explain: System peratin and warnings Stress that the TPMS nt a substitute fr manually checking tyre pressures. The TPMS nly prvides a lw tyre pressure warning and des NOT re-inflate the tyres. Tyre pressures shuld be checked when the tyres are cld, using an accurate pressure gauge. A Jaguar Retailer r Authrised Repairer shuld carry ut Tyre replacement t avid damage t the TPMS sensr DPF and DEF Explain: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) warning lamp Full message and regeneratin drive cycle Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tp-up and warnings Diesel vehicles equipped with a DPF have mre efficient emissin cntrl. The particles in the exhaust gases are cllected in the filter during nrmal driving. When a DPF message is displayed, accmpanied by an amber warning lamp, the filter requires a regeneratin cycle t clean itself. This requires the engine t have reached nrmal perating temperature. Regeneratin takes place autmatically at an interval f apprximately km ( miles) depending n driving cnditins. Regeneratin nrmally takes minutes and is autmatically requested by the engine cntrl mdule if the vehicle is driven steadily at vehicle speeds between 60km/h t 112km/h (40mph t 70mph). It is pssible that the regeneratin prcess will ccur at lwer vehicle speeds, but the events may take a little lnger at a 50km/h (30mph) average speed. NOTE: If regeneratin is nt successfully carried ut, the amber warning lamp will eventually be replaced by a red warning lamp. In rder t cmply with latest exhaust emissins requirements (EU6), sme vehicles with diesel engines are fitted with a reservir cntaining Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). In sme markets, DEF is knwn as AdBlue. DEF cnsumptin can vary greatly dependent n driving style and cnditins, but the average rate f cnsumptin is apprximately 1 litre fr every 1000 miles. A series f warnings will be displayed in the vehicle s message centre t indicate a lw DEF/AdBlue level. At critically lw levels, this warning will display the remaining mileage befre a n-start cnditin is impsed. It shuld be stressed that the actin t prevent the engine frm starting cannt be changed, and is nt within the cntrl f Jaguar as it is set by legislatin. DEF can be added t the reservir by using the tp-up prcedure (detailed in the Owners Literature); hwever, a full system refill is still recmmended at the earliest pprtunity. The DEF tp-up pint is lcated in the luggage cmpartment. NOTE: It is recmmended t cntact a Jaguar Retailer/Authrised Repairer t arrange a DEF refill, at the earliest pprtunity. Ensure the custmer is aware f the "Diesel Technlgy - Our Envirnmental Respnsibility" leaflet (JJM )

Up t 3 seat and mirrr cmbinatin settings may be stred as pre-sets. Befre activating a pre-set memry, ensure that the area immediately surrunding the seat is clear f bstructins. If a pre-set is nt selected within five secnds f pressing the memry stre (M) buttn, the memry stre functin will cancel. Reverse mirrr dip is a feature that must be activated via the Set-up menu n the Instrument Cluster. The mirrrs will dip when reverse gear is selected. At this pint the mirrrs can be adjusted t better suit custmer requirements (whilst in reverse gear). Once set they will return t this setting when reverse is selected. The mirrrs will return t their nrmal driving psitins when the gear selectr is mved ut f reverse r if the reverse vehicle speed exceeds 4mph (7km/h). NOTE: Pwerfld will nly perate if the vehicle is statinary, r travelling at less than 12mph (20km/h) 4.3 Blind Spt Mnitr (BSM) Demnstrate/Explain: Blind Spt Mnitr with Clsing Vehicle Sensing The Blind Spt Mnitr (BSM) system is a supplement t, nt a replacement fr a safe driving style and use f the exterir and rear-view mirrrs. The icns in either mirrr illuminate when a vehicle in an adjacent lane is in an vertaking psitin. On start-up, an amber dt is visible in the mirrrs. This shws the system is OK and will disappear when the vehicle speed exceeds 6mph (10km/h). If this light is seen again it indicates a system fault and shuld be accmpanied by a warning message. If BSM is disabled using the Instrument Cluster vehicle infrmatin and settings menu the amber light will be permanently ON. Clsing Vehicle Sensing is a feature within the BSM system. The radar detectin area is extended t apprximately 230 feet (70 metres) and identifies a rapidly appraching vehicle by flashing the warning icn in the apprpriate mirrr. Once the vehicle enters the area mnitred by the BSM the icn will illuminate cntinuusly. NOTE: The system is designed t cver a fixed lane width, if narrw lanes are in use it may detect bjects travelling in nn-adjacent lanes.

15 4.4 Autmatic Headlamps with High Beam Assist Demnstrate and Explain: Master lighting switch (t include aut and delay cntrls) Explain: High Beam Assist functin and benefits All external lights are perated frm this switch. If Aut psitin is selected, the lights will illuminate autmatically when lw ambient light is detected. Headlamp Curtesy Delay - the headlamps can be set t remain ON fr a selected perid after the vehicle is parked. This feature can be used t illuminate the area arund the vehicle after parking (set up is via the Instrument Cluster menu fr delays f 30, 60, 120 and 240 secnds). The Smart Key can als perate this feature. Optinal Adaptive Frnt Lighting is available, the system enables the lamps t swivel up t 7 degrees inwards and up t 14 degrees utwards imprving visibility when crnering. High Beam Assist is a cnvenience feature t encurage greater use f High Beam thus prmting safer driving. Once selected and ambient light is fully dark, the system switches ON High beam. The system nly perates at speeds abve 25mph (40km/h). The system uses a camera munted in the rear view mirrr husing. The fllwing cnditins may affect the system s functin: Highly reflective rad signs Vehicles with dim lamps (e.g. bicycles) Adverse weather cnditins A dirty sensr A dirty, damaged r misted windscreen A sticker n the windscreen The system will be cancelled if the headlamp curtesy flash is used while High Beam Assist is in use. NOTE: Aut Dip lamps will perate in twilight cnditins, Aut High Beam nly when fully dark. 4.5 Wipers Demnstrate and Explain: Wiper functins and features The wipers can be perated manually. In autmatic mde, the rain sensr determines the autmatic variable delay. This can be changed t manual variable delay dependant n switch psitin. The wiper frequency is als affected by the vehicle speed. If the vehicle speed drps belw 1.2 mph (2km/h) the wipers will switch t the next lwest speed. When the speed increases abve 5mph (8 km/h) the riginal settings are restred.

16 4.6 Windws and Panramic Sunrf Demnstrate and Explain: Windw and Panramic Sunrf peratin The windws feature ne-tuch up and ne-tuch dwn peratin. Once the switch is pressed, there is n need t hld it. The windws als feature an Anti-Trap prtectin system t prevent accidental trapping f vulnerable parts f the bdy r ther bstructins in a clsing windw. If an bject is detected, the windw will back ff. The Panramic Sunrf and Sunblind has the same ne-tuch peratin and safety features as the windws. NOTE: Each switch has a 2-stage peratin. Lightly press/pull and hld t manually perate t the required psitin. Alternatively, press/pull fully and release fr fully (ne-tuch) autmatic peratin. Fully autmatic peratin can be halted at any time, by perating the switch again. 4.7 Instrument Cluster and Message Centre Demnstrate and Explain: Message centre Warning lights Audible warnings There are three levels f Messages: Primary - with a red warning icn Secndary - with an amber warning icn Infrmatin Messages with the highest imprtance will be displayed first Advise the custmer t check the Handbk shuld any Primary r Secndary messages appear. Lw fuel warning is nw based n the vlume in tank (nt the range) which means that there will n lnger be 50 miles t empty. The remaining distance takes accunt f the current driving style and the remaining fuel. The Vehicle Set-up menu is als displayed in the message centre. NOTE: The seat belt minder message disappears autmatically. It may als be cancelled by pressing the Menu/OK buttn n the LH steering wheel cntrls.
