4 Weekly Grain Comments (Source: Profarmer) To the point: Concerns about the US winter wheat crop continue to send international markets higher. Domestic prices have reflected this. Key Market Indicators 11/04/18 CBOT Wheat May 18 AUD/USD ICE Canola May 18 AUD/CAD Matif Canola May 18 AUD/EUR This week $A/t Usc/bu US c $A/t $C/t CA c $A/t /t Euro c Last Week Change International and National Markets have tracked higher this week, mainly on the back of ongoing concerns about the condition of the US winter wheat crop. Dryness continues in areas, with another drop in condition from the USDA crop progress report further pressuring the market. The release of the USDA WASDE report on Tuesday night had a few surprises, but generally didn t cause much more than a ripple through the market. Domestically, prices have generally tracked higher this week following international markets. Domestic demand remains strong, while the above mentioned international pressures have sent export markets up also. Page 4 of 6

5 Wheat Sth QLD/Nth NSW After a quiet patch, late last week saw wheat edge higher and continue through to early this week. There are varying thoughts on what drove this, from domestic consumers being short on their cover to concerns about dry weather. Sth NSW/VIC/SA Strong offshore markets have continued to keep wheat markets strong. Old crop prices continue to find support from dry weather and active packers. Barley Sth QLD/Nth NSW Barley coverage continues to be light and will continue to be moving forward, with barley finding support from wheat markets. Activity in barley markets has however been light as a reflection of both lack of coverage and high prices. Sth NSW/VIC/SA Inelastic supply from many end users, along with tight supply is keeping the barley market strong. It s been something of a follower of wheat over the past week and has too moved stronger. Sorghum A lack of sellers and a supportive wheat market is keeping bids high in both track and delivered markets. Grower selling at the moment appears to be slow with much selling being directly to end users. Harvest of the late crop is just beginning, with most of this still expected to come off in May.
