Ceamics can also be used to poduce many types of beaings, such as angula contact ball beaings and cylindical olle beaings. 5) These evaluations indicate the cleanness aound the beaing, o in the equipment inteio. 4 Life of EXSEV eaings EXSEV beaings, lubicated with a solid lubicant, ae usually used unde elatively light load conditions, such as 1% of thei static load atings o less. These beaings can maintain stable pefomance as long as the solid lubicant is maintained. Once the lubicant weas out, metallic contact occus, which inceases otational fiction toque and shotens sevice life. Sevice life depends on use conditions. At pesent, it is not possible to pedict thei sevice life unde vaied use conditions. Howeve, based on a vaiety of expeiments and tests, JTEKT has established an expeimental fomulae to pedict the lives of beaings. The fomulae is descibed in the following subsections fo efeence only. Theefoe, thee is no common system fo estimating thei sevice lives. The estimation of full ceamic beaing sevice life is especially difficult at pesent fo theoetical easons, and equies futhe study. JTEKT estimates the full ceamic beaing sevice life on a case by case basis accoding to the custome equest, based on expeience and expeimental data. Fo hybid ceamic beaings, in many cases the conventional equation (2) below based on olling contact fatigue is used to estimate sevice life, whee gease o oil can be used fo lubication and, at the same time, beaings ae equied to be insulating and antimagnetic, o to be highly igid and have excellent high-speed pefomance. Linea ball beaing cleaance Linea ball beaings povide linea motion smoothly with little wea when the cleaance is.3 to.12 mm. Howeve, when cleaance incease due to wea is consideed citical, e.g. when the beaing is povided to pess die sets, pecision machine tools o pecision testes; when the beaing becomes unable to slide because of moment; o when smooth beaing opeation is needed with no cleaance povided, the cleaance is adjusted to zeo o negative. In such a case, shafts geneally need to be mounted by "selective fitting." They should be handled caefully so as not to be peloaded excessively. As Fig. 1 shows, the cleaance of beaings with numbes SDM 6 thu SDM 1 can be easily set to Fo the cleaance adjustable and open type beaings, it is best fo the shaft diamete to be smalle than the ball complement boe diamete lowe deviation, and fo the housing boe diamete to be lage than the beaing outside diamete uppe deviation.
