2 EAS -element clutch/eas -element Non-destuctive Oveload Potection In heavy-duty machine building and on dives with high toques, high speeds and high mass moments of inetia, disengaging element clutches guaantee that the input and the output ae sepaated completely in the event of a collision o a malfunction, and that the stoed otational enegy can slow down feely. In contast to shea pins and hydaulic clamping sets, these clutches wok in a nondestuctive way and ae theefoe an inteesting and economical altenative. EAS -elements If the set cicumfeential foce is exceeded in case of oveload, the EAS -elements disengage; the positivelocking connection is inteupted. The maximum cicumfeential foce is detemined individually via the adjusting nut and the may -cup spings. This limits the tansmittable toque. Due to the axial stoke of the bolt (ball caie), the contol segments move adially outwads, theeby disconnecting the components axially. 8 EAS -element Function: EAS -elements fo installation in two beaing-suppoted flanges facing each othe o fo integation into existing constuctions. The EAS -elements ae available in 5 sizes (02 2). In case of oveload, the EAS -elements sepaate the input and output mechanically, so that the system can slow down feely. Re-engagement of the individual elements is caied out by hand (automatic e-engagement available on equest). Bolt 1 is pessed via the contol segments 4 and the thust washe 5 against the foce of the cup spings 6 fom the thust pieces 2. The contol segments 4 tavel adially outwads ove the bolt 1 switching edge and hold bolt 1 in a disengaged position (see Fig. 2). The positive-locking connection of the two clutch flanges A and B is nullified. The oiginally coupled masses can slow down feely. The dive is switched off electically via a speed monitoing device 13. Design: All element components consist of high-quality quenched and tempeed steels with a zinc-phosphated suface which povides a basic coosion potection fo futhe suface teatments. It can be otated and is secued against falling out. The elements ae also suitable fo oil-unning. Befoe installation, please make sue that the elements ae engaged. Measue the inspection dimension p accoding to the Table below. The elements ae deliveed in an engaged position ex woks. Install the EAS -element into flange A. Please obseve the tightening toque M A accoding to the details in the Dimension Sheets. Gease the thust piece 2 (Fig. 4) o the adapto bushing 14 (Fig. 5) well (Please use: gease NLGI class 2 with a basic oil viscosity of 220 mm 2 /s at 40 C, e.g. Mobilgease HP222) and inset in o scew onto flange B. The set scew 9 must be emoved. Scew-on the cove 10. The set scew 8 must be emoved. Please obseve the tightening toque M A accoding to the details given in the Dimension Sheets. Adjust the distance dimension a 1 accoding to Table 1 below. Pe-tensioning the elements on s 0 2: Tighten the set scew 8. Afte adjustment, counte the set scew 8. Fo opeation with impact and vibation occuences it is ecommended to cay out the bolt pe-tensioning altenatively by inseting shim ings. Secue thust piece 2 using set scew 9. Pe-tensioning the elements on s 02 01: Inset shim ings between the adapto bushing and the thust piece. (see Installation and Opeational Instuctions B.4.4.GB). Recod the set distance dimension a 1 fo subsequent inspections (the set adjustment dimension is calculated as follows: Distance dimension a 1 - bolt pe-tension). Toque Adjustment: The limit toque fo oveload on the clutch is adjusted by changing the cup sping pe-tension of each element. Fo s 02 1, adjustment is caied out via the adjusting nut 7, fo 2 via 4 set scews 11 (Fig. 4). All 4 set scews must be evenly adjusted and counteed. Duing toque adjustment, it is essential that all elements on the clutch ae adjusted evenly. The EAS -elements can be set to the equied cicumfeential foce F U at the place of manufactue. Subsequent adjustment o e-adjustment via adjustment cuves is also possible (see Installation and Opeational Instuctions B.4.4.GB). Should the device be subject to vey dity, dusty o exteme ambient conditions, it may be necessay to cay out inspections at much shote intevals. If the distance dimension a 1 inceases substantially (see Table 2), the axial beaing of both clutch flanges must be checked. Maintenance: The EAS -elements ae completely enclosed and have a gease filling, meaning that they ae mainly maintenance-fee. Maintenance wok on the clutch is limited to the following: Afte the fist 20 disengagements, check the clutch cicumfeential backlash and the oiginally set adjustment dimension a 1 ; if necessay, e-adjust the bolt pe-tension. Re-gease the contact components and thust pieces (2). Toque limitation fo heavy and high-speed dives in connection with lage otating masses, which have to slow down feely in case of oveload. Flange design fo the attachment of spocket wheels and toothed wheels, V-belt disks etc. The espective element beaings on the shaft must be povided custome-side. The beaing is able to absob high additional foces in axial and adial diections. Howeve, the maximum pemitted foces on the flange connection in adial and axial diections must not be exceeded (see Technical Data, page 13). Toque limitation with integated output-side beaing Dive elements such as spocket wheels and toothed wheels, V-belt disks etc. can be mounted diectly without equiing an additional beaing position. On s 6 11 the flexible coupling pat is poduced as a positive-locking claw coupling with eplaceable intemediate ing made fom highly damping, oil-esistant and tempeatue esistant mateial (Fig. 1). On s a claw coupling with adially mountable, lage-volume, flexible buffes is used (Fig. 2). Replacing the flexible buffes is possible without clutch disassembly. Toque limitation with a positive-locking, tosionally flexible coupling fo the connection of two shafts. The design of the installed EAS -elements is as descibed on page 8. The clutch is also suitable fo oil-unning. 2 Stoke 1 Design s 0 1 Fig. 1: EAS -element clutch engaged Design 2 Toque Adjustment: The limit toque fo oveload on the clutch can be adjusted by changing the cup sping pe-tension of each oveload element. Fo s 6 11, adjustment is caied out via the adjusting nut 3.7, fo s via set scews 3.11 (see Fig. 1). It is essential that all oveload elements on the clutch ae adjusted evenly. The EAS -element clutches s 6 14 can be set to the equied limit toque fo oveload at the place of manufactue. Subsequent adjustment o e-adjustment via an adjustment diagam is also possible (see Installation and Opeational Instuctions B.4.3.GB). 4 2 Makings fo e-engagement Toque Path: Hub pat 1 bolt 3.1 balls 3.3 thust piece output flange 2 Pocesses fo Toque Switch-off on Oveload: On oveload, the hub pat 1 and the output flange 2 begin to tun against each othe. The contol segments 3.4 tavel adially outwads ove the bolt 3.1 switching edge and hold bolt 3.1 in a disengaged position (see Fig. 2).
