The amount of backlash between the screw and worm gear nut can be adjusted (adjust shell cap) to a desired amount or a practical minimum. To avoid binding and excessive wear do not adjust backlash to less than 0.025mm. In the event of excessive wear on the nut thread the load will be transferred from the standard nut to the safety nut.
