9 1 ABOUT THIS DOCUMENT This document is to be used to communicate the signs, signals and messages that will be encountered by users taking part in the UK Testfest October The Testfest event will be held at an Event Centre close to the M2. The scenarios are described from a starting location of the Event Centre. Wherever possible, messages and signs are configured to correspond to real physical gantries, traffic light junctions or signs. Maps are provided to show the location of the scenarios and the physical and virtual signs involved. The maps include some of the other Gantries and signs in the area for context. The generic sequence of signs, signals and roadworks that will be encountered as part of the scenarios are shown in schematic diagram form. The sequence of messages to be encountered in each proposed scenario are described in tabular form. These tables also form the basis for instructions on the scripting language that the technical team will use to deploy the messages. They also help inform the data content of message profiles. ETSI Message Profiles and data content of ETSI messages are contained in a separate document i. This document is supplemented by two spreadsheet files: 1. File containing the GPS locations of physical and virtual signs and signals 2. File containing the GPX route to aid co-drivers in guiding drivers through the different test areas. (Note there are five test areas included in the UK Testfest) Project No.: Our Ref No.: WP June 2018 InterCor Partners Page 1 of 30

11 3 TEST SITES There will be six test areas deployed during UK Testfest: 1. Hybrid served motorway area (ITS-G5 and Cellular) 2. Cellular served GLOSA Junctions 3. Cellular served urban IVS and RWW area 4. Cellular served Cross Border route 5. ITS-G5 GLOSA site 6. Static area around the Testfest base (Event Centre) Test area 2 and 3 in London, will operate as a single scenario route combining all use cases. The static area around the Event Centre (6) is a single RSU for testing and establishing communications of the vehicles. The sites will offer a wide range of opportunities to test technical aspects of interoperability and hybrid as follows: Bench test - Local test (Event Centre) to establish communications. Baseline test - Basic ITS-G5 and cellular operation on live roads. GLOSA test - Functional test of the London cellular GLOSA service. Interoperability tests - Testing of cross border operability. Hybrid test - Testing of cross media operability (Cellular and ITS-G5). GLOSA test - Functional test of the Kent ITS-G5 GLOSA service. The GLOSA services and some of the London based IVS signs will replicate real traffic control and traffic management indications. This means that signs will appear in vehicles at the same time as signs are displayed to all motorists using traditional signs and signals. The motorway IVS signs and Roadworks warnings will not have a real-world equivalent, but the signs that appear in vehicles will be located where a real gantry or sign exists. The scenarios are designed to offer the full range of testing and measurement opportunities and are defined in Section 4 of this document. 3.1 HYBRID SERVED MOTORWAY AREA (ITS-G5 AND CELLULAR) A 4km section of motorway (M2) has been equipped with ITS-G5 roadside units and is known to have reasonable coverage from 4G and 3G mobile communications. Two main use cases will be tested in this area, both In-Vehicle Signage (IVS) and Roadworks Warning (RWW) SPEED LIMITS At the test site, speed limits will be set and varied for vehicles travelling Northbound towards London. Gantry 8510B for setting speed limits Gantry 8498B for setting speed limits Gantry 8487B for setting speed limits Gantry 8479B for setting National Speed Limit / End Project No.: Our Ref No.: WP June 2018 InterCor Partners Page 3 of 30

12 3.1.2 ROADWORKS WARNING Roadworks in Lane 1 will be defined for a 300m length while travelling Southbound between Junctions 2 and 3 of the M2. The Roadworks will be protected by lead-in signs at gantries, 8479A, 8487A and 8497A. National Speed Limit will be set on gantry 8507A. This scenario is a simulated RWW and therefore, there will be no real equivalent signs set or actual lane closures. However, the signs that appear in vehicles will be located where a real gantry exists SCHEMATIC Figure 1 shows the route, signs and gantries included in the hybrid scenarios.
