7 Smoother Journeys, Cleaner Journeys Siemens provided DSRC (802.11p) technology that is in use today in Newcastle to smooth the journeys of NHS patient transport services, improving patient comfort and saving fuel p Wi-Fi CAM (position, velocity, priority...) SPaT (signal state/timing on approaches) TOPO (intersection topology) RSU OBU 300 m And that s just the start. Freight and public transport projects are underway in the urban environment. On motorways, Siemens is reducing the cost of infrastructure by virtualising signage for the next generation of CAVs. Page 59
8 V2X projects Siemens is providing the back office and roadside p devices for the UK CITE project, a collaborative project with AESIN members and their technology partners, which brings connected car use cases to the strategic road network around Coventry The consortium partners will create the first fully connected road infrastructure using a globally unique combination of wireless technologies which can enable real-world testing of connected, semiautonomous and eventually autonomous driving in a safe and managed way. The infrastructure will form the basis of an on-going real world test facility which will be open to other manufacturers and technology companies to use.
