1 Projected 2011 Missouri River Flood Elevations Kansas City District, US Army Corps of Engineers The following table presents two water surface profiles based on the likely range of flows that are expected from normal precipitation patterns and releases from Gavins Point Dam (South Dakota). The scenarios are: flow scenario 150,000 cfs (cubic feet per second) releases from Gavins Point Dam combined with typical seasonal runoff for the months of June and July. flow scenario 150,000 cfs releases from Gavins Point Dam combined with runoff similar to that experienced during the months of June and July from , a period of above normal rainfall for these months. An expected range of river stages was generated for each gage location along the Missouri River using existing rating curves. A hydraulic model was used to generate water surface profiles from Rulo, NE to St. Charles, MO for the expected range of flows. This model was calibrated using the expected stages at the gages. This information is being reviewed continuously and will be updated as conditions dictate. Projected water surface elevations are based on the best available information. We expect the Missouri River to fluctuate between these projected flows and water surface elevations. Levee breaches and/or overtopping may have significant impacts on predicted water surface elevations. These estimates may be exceeded with precipitation patterns that are well above normal. Note: One kcfs equals 1,000 cubic feet per second.
