1 Subcled Cndensers The SSC, Sanitary Subcled Cndenser is a patent pending sanitary cndensate chamber and steam trap assembly that was designed t replace the 12-18" dwncmer (drip leg) traditinally installed between SIP temperature sensrs and sanitary steam traps. It is ASME BPE 2007 cmpliant, being cnstructed f ASTM A L barstck, fully drainable, and plished t SF1, 20 Ra µin (0,5 Ra µm), r ptinally t SF5, 20 Ra µin electrplished. Operatin As spent cndensate and wet stream exit sterilized prcess tubing r equipment, the SSC rapidly remves enthalpy, subcling the cndensate belw it's saturatin temperature. As the cler cndensate enters the sanitary steam trap, it causes the trap bellws t cntract. The cntracted bellws pens the trap rifice further allwing greater amunts f cndensate t exit the system. The finned-chamber gemetry f the SSC ffers the best available technlgy fr insuring rapid SIP heat-up and uninterrupted hld cycles, while ffering a mre ecnmical alternative (re: space utilizatin and capital csts) t cnventinal dwncmer designs. The SSC reduces the lineal and vertical distance needed between the SIP temp sensr and the steam trap by a minimum f 80%. With the SSC, vertical head space is reduced by 15.6" if enduser practice calls fr the industry preferred 18" lineal - vertical dwncmer. Fr 18" - 12" vertical, bent tube installatins, the savings are 9.6". With the SSC, vertical head space reductins n 12" vertical tube dwncmer (industry minimum lineal distance) assemblies is als 9.6". 3 Features Increased Prcess Availability The SSC increases prcess equipment availability by reducing average annual SIP time. The device dramatically reduces the prbability f SIP wetted temperature sensr faults, and ttal heat-up time. The SSC design makes it impssible fr spent cndensate t tuch (cl) the SIP temperature sensr upstream f the trap under expected lad cnditins. And, it ensures that cndensate cannt cl (and insulate) critical prcess areas that are being sterilized during heat-up r temperature hld perids. The SSC increases the vlumetric cndensate hlding capacity immediately upstream f the trap by 4 times that f the industry's typical 3/4", 18" lineal sanitary tubing dwncmer, and 6 times the industry's minimum recmmended 12" dwncmer. This cmpact, extra capacity ensures that spent cndensate is cmpletely remved frm the temperature sensr area, and frm the tubing, vessel, r prcess equipment being sterilized. The SSC prvides mre than 5 times the effective cling capacity than the typical 3/4", 18" lineal sanitary dwncmer. Cndensate entering the trap is thrughly subcled regardless f the steam traps subcling perfrmance. This ensures that the steam trap is fully pen during the high cndensate lad SIP heat-up, and during the ensuing lighter lad, temperature hld perid.
