We will prvide rganized, cmpetent instructin in the fundamental driving skills, techniques, and knwledge by prviding thirty (30) hurs f classrm instructin, twelve (12) hurs f in-car driving instructin, and six (6) hurs f in-car bservatin in accrdance with Massachusetts state law. Driving is a cmplex task requiring the mastery f many skills. Yur teenage driver needs as much driving experience as pssible t learn and develp these basic driving skills. The Cmmnwealth f Massachusetts requires that the student have at least 40 hurs f supervised driving time in additin t the time spent driving with the driving schl. The parent s rle shuld be ne f reinfrcing skills intrduced by the driver educatin teacher, nt intrducing new skills. This fee includes the use f the schl vehicle t take the rad test, and transprtatin t and frm the RMV test site. If yu request that we schedule a rad test fr yur student, and then decide t take them t the RMV yurself there will be a $25.00 charge fr the scheduling charge. Re-Test Fee If yu failed yur rad test the first time arund, we will ffer a $25.00 discunt fr a secnd rad test. We make every attempt t wrk with yu and schedule lessns accrding t yur schedule. Lessns are bked n a first cme/first bked basis. We realize that smetimes life is unpredictable, but because students are required t d bth driving and bservatin, ther students are als cunting n them t shw up fr their appintments. If the student has an appintment fr a driving r bservatin lessn and needs t cancel, we require a 24-hurs ntice, OR if the student DOES NOT have their learner s permit with them fr their driving lessn, there will be a $25.00 charge per scheduled driving time. This MUST be paid at the next driving lessn. Our plicy is t cancel any ther appintments that yu have scheduled in advance. Remember Prper Planning Prevents Pr Perfrmancez! Students are requested t turn ff electrnic devices (phnes, ipds, etc) bth in the classrm and in the car befre instructin begins. Classes are taught in mdule frmat with a cmplete class requirement cvering the 17 mdules f instructin. It is the student's respnsibility t make sure that he/she attends each classrm sessin r if he/she is unable t attend each sessin that he/she must be sure t schedule a makeup with the Academy t cver the missed mdules. Fr example, if he/she misses a Mnday f a vacatin week class, he/she must make the class up n anther Mnday in a vacatin week r a Saturday mde r 3 evening classes t cver the required curriculum. The requirement is curriculum specific nt hur specific. The training f a student driver is nt nly the respnsibility f the driving schl. Fr each hur that the student drives with the Academy, he/she is are required by law t spend 3 hurs and 20 minutes driving and practicing with a parent r ther licensed driver ver 21 years f age wh has had a valid license fr mre than 1 year in the passenger seat next t them. Each student must cmplete all requirements, and a parent r guardian must attend the parent class befre a Driver Educatin Certificate will be rdered frm the Mass RMV. Classrm: Cell phnes, IPODs, walkmen, etc. are NOT allwed t be used in the classrm r autmbile. Students will take ntes in class, and we encurage parents see them. Classrm seating will be assigned, and students must pass the final exam (80 % r higher) befre scheduling their rad test. It is the bligatin f the parent/student t disclse any learning disabilities that might assist the schl t address individual student needs. Attendance: Thirty hurs f classrm instructin are required. If a student misses a class, he/she will make that class lessn up in subsequent sessins befre their Registry Driver Educatin Certificate can be issued. If a student is habitually tardy, credit fr the curse may be refused by A-Z Driving Academy. Driving: Twelve hurs f driving time and six hurs f bservatin time is required by the Cmmnwealth f Massachusetts. State law mandates nly ne lessn per day. Rad lessns are intended t meet the standards t pass the Registry rad test and t teach lifelng safe driving techniques. Students need many additinal hurs f practice with a parent r guardian t becme prficient and experienced. Behavir: If a student is disruptive r causes malicius prperty damage in the classrm, autmbiles, bathrms, r building, he/she may be asked t leave the schl and pay fr damages. N drugs r alchl use will be tlerated. Students must be enrlled in a classrm sessin befre scheduling driving lessns. A-Z Driving Academy reserves the right t determine when a student is ready t start their driving lessns. If a scheduled driving lessn is nt canceled a full 24 hurs in advance r if a student des NOT have his/her learner's prmit, the student will be charged a fee f $25 per driving hur. All fees must be paid befre their next driving lessn. Abuse f any f the abve rules may result in suspensin r expulsin with n refunds.

Nw is the time t be the mst vigilant t ensure that yur teenager beys driving rules and the restrictins f the Junir Operatr License law. Enfrcement f the law and safe driving habits begin at hme where yu play the biggest rle. Yu can help the RMV and plice keep yur sn r daughter safe behind the wheel. The Junir Operatr License is prvisinal and gives yur teen time t cntinue his r her training. Set a strng driving example and be clear abut what yu expect when he/she is in the driver s seat. Junir Operatr Driving Restrictins The Passenger Restrictin prevents a Junir Operatr frm carrying passengers under the age f 18 (except fr siblings) during the first six mnths that the driver has his/her license. This restrictin was designed t reduce the number f distractins that an inexperienced driver may face while driving. The Night Restrictin prevents a Junir Opera tr frm driving between 12:30 am and 5:00 am, unless accmpanied by a parent r guardian. Accident rates fr yung drivers are higher late at night when they may be drwsy r tend t speed r take mre risks because there are fewer cars n the rad. This restrictin was designed t prevent driving during these dangerus hurs. A first ffense f ne f these restrictins will result in a 60 day license suspensin and a $100 reinstatement fee. Mbile Phne Usage by Operatrs Under 18 Operatrs under the age f 18 cannt use any mbile electrnic device fr any reasn while perating a mtr vehicle. The nly exceptin is fr reprting an emergency.

Accrding t the Natinal Highway Traffic Safety Administratin (NHTSA), teenage drivers and passengers are amng thse least likely t wear their seat belts. 10 130 Middlesex Rad, Tyngsbrugh, MA FACTS THAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHILD S DRIVING PRIVLEGES and THE JUNIOR OPERATOR LAW The law has several requirements and restrictins that significantly affect the peratin f a mtr vehicle by a persn wh has a Junir Operatr s License (JOL). The basic purpse f the law is t prvide new drivers supervised pprtunities in which t develp gd driving skills while keeping thse drivers free f pssible distractins caused by friends under the age f 18 wh are present while the drivers are behind the wheel. A newly licensed driver under 18 years ld receives a "Junir Operatr's License" r JOL. With this type f license there are certain restrictins which must be adhered t by the newly licensed driver: 1- While they are driving, they shall nt have any ccupants in the car that are under the age f 18 (with the exceptin f an immediate family member) fr the first 6 mnths after receiving their JOL unless they are accmpanied by a licensed driver ver the age f 21 with a valid license t drive wh has had his/her license fr a minimum f 1 year ccupying the passenger seat next t the driver. (This passenger restrictin is in effect fr the first six mnths after receiving the JOL r until the driver reaches the age f 18, whichever ccurs first). Vilatins f this law will result in a license suspensin. 2- They can nt perate a vehicle between the hurs f 12:30 AM and 5:00 AM (12:00 AM and 5:00 AM with Learner s Permit) unless they are accmpanied by a parent r guardian. If the driver is fund in vilatin f this law, he/she will be charged with perating a mtr vehicle withut being licensed; this is a criminal vilatin. 3- Hlders f a Learner s Permit MUST be accmpanied by a licensed driver ver the age f 21 with a valid license t drive and wh has had his/her license fr a minimum f 1 year ccupying the passenger seat next t the driver.

In this special tw-hur curse, parents will learn abut the junir peratr's law and their rle in supprting the law; hw t teach their child t drive safely; what skills their child needs t master t pass the rad test; and hw t identify family member driving behavirs which may negatively influence a new driver. A-Z Driving Academy will hld these classes mnthly They will meet frm 6:00 PM 8:00 PM the first Thursday f every mnth. We require that yu pre-register either by phne r thru ur website

Perhaps few 'passages' in a child's life cause mre anxiety fr his r her parents than the first time behind the wheel f the family car. Visins f fender benders, traffic tickets, prperty damage, and inflated insurance rates ften dance in the heads f cncerned parents while the teen dreams f taking all 14 f her clsest friends t the mall by herself. Other parents endure the spectacle f their teenage sn trying t restre a 35-year ld cllectin f rusted blts and a pssible dr int his first car. Whenever a teenager begins the driving educatin prcess, yu can be assured that anxieties will abund, but it desn't have t be that way fr either the student r the teacher. Many high schls and cmmercial driving schls nw ffer driver educatin classes which can take much f the pressure ff parents and put it nt trained persnnel. Students are taught the laws surrunding driving, thrugh actual vehicle time. Helpful Hints fr Hme Practice Sessins Befre Practice Sessins Schedule shrt, frequent lessns during daylight hurs until yu feel cnfident the teen can drive at night. Chse ne driving skill t review and practice each sessin. If pssible, practice the mst recent skill the new driver has learned in the driver educatin curse. Use the In-Car Checklist prvided by the driving academy t find ut the prper maneuvers fr the driving skill. Review the prcedures and discuss them with the new teen driver. Review safety practices and rules fr driving sessins (e.g., wear safety belts; lck drs; cnverse nly abut driving issues). Find a large, pen parking lt fr the first few sessins. Once yu feel cnfident that the new teen driver is ready, find a quiet residential area fr the sessins. During Practice Sessins Fasten yur safety belts and lck the drs. Have the driver adjust the seat and mirrrs. Sit in a psitin that allws yu t place yur hand n the steering wheel r ft n the brake quickly if necessary. Have the driver drive at lw speed during the first few sessins. Cnfine the cnversatin t driving maneuvers and techniques. Remember that the purpse f nthe-rad experience is t practice driving and safety skills. Give directins quietly, clearly and well in advance f the situatin. 13 Parent-Teen Driving Cntract This Cntract establishes clear guidelines and expectatins fr bth the Parent and the new teen driver after getting the driver's license. The law als prhibits me frm driving between the hurs f Midnight and 5:00 AM unless accmpanied by a parent r guardian. I als realize that a vilatin f this law can cause me t lse my license t drive fr a term f 30 days fr the first ffense, 60 days fr the secnd ffense, and 90 days fr the third r subsequent ffenses as well as having t pay a reinstatement fee fr each ffense. Each student has the right t be taught the entire 30 hurs f classrm instructin in an infrmative, interesting, and challenging manner. 3. Each student has the right t experience the full 18 hurs f driving instructin and bservatin as required in the curriculum as prescribed by the Massachusetts Registry f Mtr Vehicles. 4. Each student has the right t be treated in a curteus, civil, and respectful manner. 5. Each student has the right t attend class in a clean, secure, fully equipped classrm that meets the lcal fire and building cdes, and the requirements f the Massachusetts Registry f Mtr Vehicles. 6. Each student has the right t perfrm his/her in-vehicle rad lessns in a vehicle that is clean, safe, and fully functinal. 7. Each student has the right t see the schl and instructr licenses as required by Massachusetts state law. 8. Each parent has the right t bserve any class sessin in which their child is included. (The parent shuld nt intervene r interfere while the class is in sessin). 9. The parent/student shuld have the right t have the driver educatin prgram including bth the 30 hurs f classrm and 12 hurs f driving and 6 hurs bservatin as required by Massachusetts Registry f Mtr Vehicles cmpleted within 24 weeks f the first day f class attended. It is the respnsibility f the student t schedule lessns in a manner cnsistent with cmpleting this requirement.
