This is the fundamental basis fr a db Drag Racing event. The db Drag Racing Assciatin (dbdra) has gne t great lengths t insure that the rules fr cmpeting in db Drag Racing are as cmprehensive and unambiguus as pssible. Even s, there will invariably be times when a particular applicatin r installatin will fall utside the scpe f this rulebk. When thse ccasins arise, it is the respnsibility f the head judge t make a determinatin as t whether the incident in questin abides by the spirit f db Drag Racing cmpetitin. As a cmpetitr, it is yur respnsibility t understand the rules cntained in this bk and t abide by any decisins rendered by the head judge. db Drag Racing Creed

I will never perate my system in a manner that will disturb thse arund me. I will never perate my system in a manner that culd result in injury. I will never perate my system in vilatin f the law. I will d my best t represent the sprt f db Drag Racing in a psitive fashin. I will cnduct myself in a prfessinal manner while participating at events. I will d my best t supprt thse cmpanies and retailers wh supprt ur sprt. I will always abide by the db Drag Racing rules when cmpeting and will d my best t insure that thers abide by the rules as well. Safety Guidelines The safety f the cmpetitrs, judges, and bystanders at a db Drag Racing event are f paramunt imprtance. As the peratr f the cmpetitin vehicle and its sund system, the cmpetitr has a tremendus respnsibility bth t himself and t thse arund him with regards t safety. Cmpetitrs shuld clearly understand the fllwing issues prir t participating in a db Drag Racing event. Operatin f a mtr vehicle is inherently dangerus. Yu MUST insure that the peratin f yur vehicle will nt endanger yurself r thse arund yu. Please adhere t all lcal laws and verify that yur pathway is clear befre mving yur vehicle. Althugh fficiating staff members may smetimes ffer assistance in mving and/r directing traffic, the respnsibility fr the peratin f the cmpetitin vehicle ultimately lies with the cmpetitr. Aut sund systems are capable f prducing high sund pressure levels. Expsure t high sund pressure levels may cause hearing damage. NEVER perate yur sund system in such a manner as t expse yurself r thers t high sund pressure levels. In additin, listening t yur sund system at high vlumes while driving may prevent yu frm hearing emergency vehicles, vehicle r train hrns, etc. Always perate yur sund system in accrdance with lcal laws and never perate yur sund system in a manner that culd interfere with the safe peratin f yur vehicle. This includes making adjustments t yur sund system while yu are driving. Custm aut sund installatins may affect the safety and/r integrity f yur vehicle. Althugh sme cmpetitrs may elect t have their sund system installed by thers, it is ultimately the cmpetitr s respnsibility t validate that his r her installatin is safe. Particular care shuld be taken with regards t electrical wiring. All pwer wires shuld be fused directly at the battery t minimize the risk f a fire hazard. Sund cmpnents such as speakers, amplifiers, enclsures, etc. shuld be fastened t the vehicle in such as way as t prevent them frm causing injury r damage in the event f an accident. Vehicles that have been structurally mdified t accmmdate the sund system r vehicles that exceed the maximum grss weight limits as detailed in the vehicle s perating manual shuld never be driven n public streets r highways. The db Drag Racing Assciatin and its affiliates are nt qualified t determine the safety and/r legality f a given cmpetitin vehicle. This respnsibility lies with the cmpetitr. As such, the db Drag Racing Assciatin and its affiliates cannt be respnsible fr any accidents, damages, r injuries that ccur at a db Drag Racing event. By participating in a db Drag Racing event, the cmpetitr agrees t take full respnsibility fr his r her actins and any accidents, damages, r injuries that may ccur. The dbdra strngly encurages cmpetitrs t perate their vehicles and sund systems in a manner that is cnsistent with lcal laws. Flagrant disregard fr safety will result in disqualificatin and subsequent ejectin frm the event.

Sectin 1 - General Rules 1-1 Cmpetitrs may use the prgram material f their chice while cmpeting. The prgram material being played must riginate frm a surce unit that is specifically designed fr installatin and peratin in a 12-Vlt aut sund envirnment. This includes cassette decks, CD players and changers, DVD players and changers, VCR s and VCP s, MP3 units, AM / FM / Satellite radi tuners, and any ther playback device that is specifically designed fr installatin and peratin in a 12-Vlt aut sund envirnment. The prgram material may cnsist f music, test tnes, r any ther type f recrded audi signal. The prgram media may be frm a cmmercial surce (such as a CD yu purchase) r a custm, hmemade recrding. Tne generatrs, frequency multipliers, harmnizers, etc. are prhibited. Exceptins: Cmpetitrs must use the fficially apprved db Drag Racing cmpetitin at all multi-pint events. If an event takes place prir t the release f the fficial CD, then the previus year s CD may be used in the interim. (Please visit fr mre infrmatin regarding the current seasn s fficially apprved CD.) Cmpetitrs are limited t playing frequencies between 20 and 80 Hz at all multipint events. If a cmpetitr's highest SPL is achieved at a frequency belw 20 Hz r abve 80 Hz, then that cmpetitr s scre will be disallwed. If the vilatin ccurs during the qualifying runds, the cmpetitr may be granted a retry at the sle discretin f the head judge. If the vilatin ccurs during the eliminatin runds, the cmpetitr will be eliminated frm the cmpetitin, regardless f the cmpetitr s scre. 1-2 Adjustments t the sund system may be made while the vehicle is being metered as lng as n ther applicable rules are vilated during the adjustment prcess. (Metering is the prcess where the Sund Pressure Level r SPL f yur vehicle is measured.) 1-3 The cntestant s vehicle may be running while in the judging lanes as lng as the fllwing cnditins apply: The cntestant is cmpeting in the Street Stck, Super Street r Extreme Divisins f cmpetitin. Cntestants cmpeting in the Street and Street Max Divisins are prhibited frm running their vehicles while in the judging lanes. (Please see Sectin 2 fr a cmplete descriptin f the Cmpetitr Classificatin System.) Operatin f the vehicle r sund system must nt endanger the judge, cmpetitr, spectatrs, r any real r persnal prperty n the premises. The vehicle s parking brake must be set. The wheels must be chcked. The hd must be clsed. The maximum engine idle speed must nt exceed 2000 RPM. A remte engine kill switch must be easily accessible frm utside f the vehicle fr thse cmpetitrs that are blting (clamping, strapping, etc.) the drs f the vehicle clsed while in the judging lanes.

It is the cmpetitr s respnsibility t cmply with the cnditins listed abve. Cmpetitrs fund t be in vilatin f ne r mre f these cnditins may be eliminated frm the cmpetitin. 1-4 The cntestant must be utside f the vehicle while the vehicle is being metered and all drs, windws, and ther penings t the vehicle must remain clsed during this time. Exceptin - Cmpetitrs may remain inside f the vehicle during metering prvided: They wear adequate hearing prtectin at all times. Remval f the hearing prtectin while inside f the vehicle will result in immediate disqualificatin. The cmpetitr s maximum SPL never exceeds 140 db. A measured SPL in excess f 140 db will be recrded as 140 db. The cmpetitr must sign a db Drag Racing entry frm that includes a waiver stating that the cmpetitr understands that expsure t high sund pressure levels may result in temprary r permanent hearing lss. 1-5 When the SPL metering prcess begins, cntestants will have 30 secnds t achieve their highest Sund Pressure Level (SPL). The SPL metering equipment will recrd and save each cmpetitr s high scre during this 30 secnd judging interval. 1-6 Cntestants may nt pen their vehicle during the metering prcess. If a cntestant pens his r her vehicle while being metered, the cmpetitr s scre shall be nullified. If the vilatin ccurs during the qualificatin runds, the cmpetitr may be granted a retry at the discretin f the head judge. If the vilatin ccurs during the eliminatin runds, the cmpetitr in vilatin shall frfeit the rund. Sectin 2 - Cmpetitr Classificatin System Cmpetitrs are classified by the nature f the cmpnents in their sund system and the extent t which their vehicle has been mdified. Fr specific limitatins regarding vehicle mdificatins fr each divisin, refer t Sectins 3-5 later in this rulebk. 2-1 The dbdra cnsiders speakers with advertised maximum diameters f 10 inches r larger t be wfers. 2-2 All f the wfers in a vehicle (10 inches and larger) will be cunted when determining what class a cmpetitr shuld cmpete in. Every wfer in an Isbaric r Cmpund cnfiguratin shall be cunted. Hidden wfers (such as thse fund in Bandpass enclsures) shall be cunted. Passive radiatrs, prts, and vents are nt cnsidered t be wfers, and therefre will nt be cunted as such. If the largest speaker in the cntestant s sund system is smaller than 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, then all f the speakers that are being used t prduce bass shall be treated as wfers. 2-3 Tken wfers are strictly prhibited. If a cmpetitr has installed wfers in such a manner as t circumvent the cmpetitr classificatin system, the cmpetitr may be reclassified r disqualified at the sle discretin f the head judge. Example:

A cmpetitr wh nrmally cmpetes in the Super Street 1-2 class shws up at an event and decides that his nrmal class is t cmpetitive fr his taste. In an effrt t circumvent the cmpetitr classificatin system and mve up int the Super Street 3-4 class, the cmpetitr brrws 2 wfers and then lays them in the back f his vehicle. Nw, there are a ttal f 4 wfers in the vehicle, even thugh the 2 wfers he just installed are nt a legitimate part f the sund system. Activities such as this are strictly prhibited. 2-4 Each cmpetitin vehicle may cmpete in ne, and nly ne class at each db Drag Racing event. Cmpetitrs may nt enter the same vehicle in mre than ne class at a db Drag Racing event, nr may a cmpetitr enter mre than ne vehicle at the same shw. Cmpetitrs may enter multiple vehicles at a db Drag Racing event prvided that n tw vehicles are entered int the same class and prvided that each vehicle is entered under a unique cmpetitr name. Cmpetitrs may nt send ut a fleet (2 r mre) f vehicles t cmpete in an attempt t circumvent the pint s accrual requirements fr the Wrld Finals. Cmpetitrs must accmpany their vehicle at each event. In ther wrds, a cmpetitr may nt send his vehicle t an event with a friend in rder t cmpete while he stays at hme. 2-5 This sectin cntains basic infrmatin regarding cmpetitr classificatin based n the equipment installed in the cntestant s vehicle. Fr specific limitatins regarding vehicle mdificatins fr each divisin, refer t Sectins 3-6 later in this rulebk. Fr a quick verview f each class please refer t the db Drag Racing Class Matrix. The standard classes fr db Drag Racing are as fllws Street Stck Divisin The Street Stck classes are intended fr nrmal, aftermarket aut sund systems. The equipment permitted in these classes is restricted t the "cnsumer-grade" cmpnents that are sld every day at aut sund retail establishments. Veteran cntestants, cmpetitin teams, and "hardcre" cmpetitrs are encuraged t cmpete in ne f ur ther divisins. Only amps and wfers n the currently apprved db Drag Racing prduct list may be used. Vans, CRX's, Panda's (r Panda derivatives), and cmmercial vehicles are prhibited frm cmpeting in the Street Stck Divisin. Cntestants must play music when cmpeting. Test tnes (r sngs cntaining test tnes) are prhibited. Street Stck A Class - A maximum f 1 subwfer amplifier (r 2 externally bridged mnblck amplifiers) may be used. A maximum TOTAL f 4 electrical cnductrs per sub may be used t cnnect the amplifier t the wfer(s). (Please see the definitins sectin fr mre detail regarding cnductrs.) One 15-inch wfer OR a maximum f tw 12-inch wfers OR a maximum f three 10-inch wfers

OR a maximum f fur 8-inch wfers Street Stck B Class - A maximum f 2 subwfer amplifiers (r 4 externally bridged mnblck amplifiers) may be used. A maximum TOTAL f 4 electrical cnductrs per sub may be used t cnnect the amplifier(s) t the wfer(s). (Please see the definitins sectin fr mre detail regarding cnductrs.) One 18-inch wfer OR a maximum f tw 15-inch wfers OR a maximum f fur 12-inch wfers OR a maximum f six 10-inch wfers OR a maximum f eight 8-inch wfers Street Divisin The Street classes are intended as a migratin path fr mre advanced cntestants. The rules in this divisin are stricter than thse fund in the Street Stck divisin and a greater variety f prducts (including "cmpetitin-grade" cmpnents) may be used. Carg vans and cmmercial vehicles are prhibited frm cmpeting in the Street Divisin. Street A Class A maximum f 1 subwfer amplifier may be used. A maximum TOTAL f 2 electrical cnductrs may be used t cnnect the amplifier t the wfer(s). (Please see the definitins sectin fr mre detail regarding cnductrs.) 7 Amplifiers that are cnstructed in such a way as t circumvent the amp quantity limitatin may be prhibited frm use in this divisin r may cunt as multiple amplifiers. (Please see Sectin 14 fr mre infrmatin n amplificatin.) Street Max Divisin The Street Max class retains the "nrmal use" restrictins assciated with the Street divisin while allwing the cntestant t utilize a "wall" in his r her installatin. Street Max Class 1-4 Wfers. A maximum f 2 subwfer amplifiers (r 4 externally bridged mnblck amplifiers) may be used. A maximum TOTAL f 4 electrical cnductrs may be used t cnnect the amplifier(s) t the wfer(s). Additinal Guidelines fr the Street Max Divisin: Amplifiers used fr nn-subwfer applicatins will nt be cunted. Amplifiers that are cnstructed in such a way as t circumvent the amp quantity limitatin may be prhibited frm use in this divisin r may cunt as multiple amplifiers. (Please see Sectin 14 fr mre infrmatin n amplificatin.) Super Street NW Divisin The Super Street NW class is designed fr thse cntestants wishing t maximize the equipment in their installs withut building a wall r mving int the Super Street r Extreme divisins. Super Street NW Class - 1+ Wfers. A maximum f 4 subwfer amplifiers (r 8 externally bridged mnblck amplifiers) may be used. A maximum TOTAL f 8 electrical cnductrs may be used t cnnect the amplifier(s) t the wfer(s). A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Additinal Guidelines fr the Super Street NW Class: Amplifiers used fr nn-subwfer applicatins will nt be cunted. Amplifiers that are cnstructed in such a way as t circumvent the amp quantity limitatin may be prhibited frm use in this divisin r may cunt as multiple amplifiers. (Please see Sectin 14 fr mre infrmatin n amplificatin.) Super Street Divisin The Super Street classes are designed fr cntestants wishing t maximize the equipment in their vehicles withut making the structural mdificatins required fr the Extreme divisin. It is nt uncmmn t find "veteran", "hardcre" cntestants participating in these classes. "Cmpetitin-grade" cmpnents are nrmally used fr Super Street. Super Street 1-2 Class Wfers. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Super Street 3-4 Class Wfers. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Super Street 5+ Class - 5+ Wfers. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer

Extreme Divisin The Extreme classes are intended fr cntestants wishing t take their systems t the very limits f technlgy and beynd. Typically, nly the mst veteran cntestants participate in these classes n a prfessinal level. Extreme 1 Class - 1 Wfer. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Extreme 2 Class - 2 Wfers. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Extreme 3+ Class - 3+ Wfers. A maximum f 4 cnductrs may be attached t each wfer Optinal Classes The fllwing classes are nt ffered at the Wrld Finals. Freestyle - This class is intended fr "first-time" cntestants nly. Typically, there are n rules in this class except that nce yu win, yu must mve up int ne f the standard classes listed abve. Mnster - This class is intended as an "exhibitin" class nly. Sectin 3 - Passenger Cmpartment Regulatins 3-1 The passenger cmpartment and listening / measurement cmpartment shall be ne and the same. (Intent: Measurements shuld be taken inside the passenger cmpartment.) 3-2 N partitins r ther barriers may divide r cmpartmentalize the passenger cmpartment. (Intent: The listening envirnment shuld apprximate that fund in a typical vehicle.) 3-3 The windshield and frnt drs t the vehicle must functin as an unbstructed bundary t the passenger cmpartment. (Intent: The listening envirnment shuld apprximate that fund in a typical vehicle, where the drs and the windshield act as walls t the listening envirnment.) 3-4 The size (air vlume) f the passenger cmpartment may nt change during cmpetitin. (Fr example: The subwfer enclsure cannt mve frward, airbags may nt be deplyed, etc.) 3-5 The cabin f the vehicle may nt be pressurized r de-pressurized with a gas r fluid f any type. In additin, the air inside f the cabin may nt be replaced with a gas r fluid f any type. 3-6 Nthing must interfere with the placement f the measurement sensr r the use f the sensr placement jig. 3-7 All reflective surfaces, with the exceptin f the windshield and dashbard, must be lcated a minimum f 12 inches (30.48 cm) frm the measurement sensr. (Intent: Reflective surfaces shall nt interfere with the measurement equipment.) Fr clarificatin purpses, the dbdra cnsiders any surface greater than 3/8 (9.525 mm) in width t be a reflective surface.

3-8 The extent t which mdificatins t the passenger cmpartment are allwed is limited by the divisin a cmpetitr is cmpeting in. (See Sectin 2 entitled, Cmpetitr Classificatin System earlier in this rulebk fr a cmplete listing f cmpetitin divisins and classes.) Fr clarificatin purpses, the dbdra uses the term mdificatin t describe changes t the vehicle that have been made in rder t accmmdate the sund system r t imprve the cmpetitr s scre. Sme examples f passenger cmpartment mdificatins include: Replacing the OEM glass Replacing the OEM dashbard Replacing the OEM seats Reinfrcing the dr panels Flr build-ups and rf build-dwns Remving r replacing the OEM center cnsle A Special Nte n Equivalent Replacements: There are several areas in the rulebk where the term equivalent replacement is used. The dbdra cnsiders an equivalent replacement t be a replacement that clsely resembles the OEM prduct it replaces in bth frm and functin. This includes structural rigidity, csmetics, and size. Example: If a cmpetitr is replacing the dr panel n a vehicle, it wuld be acceptable fr the replacement t be made f 1/8-inch (3.175 mm) thick fiber bard cvered with uphlstery material, since the structural rigidity, csmetics, and size f the replacement panel are similar t thse f the riginal panel. On the ther hand, a replacement panel made frm 1-inch (2.54 cm) thick MDF wuld nt be permissible because the structural rigidity f the replacement panel is different frm that f the riginal. Please nte that in this example it is nt the thickness f the replacing material that dictates what is r is nt acceptable. Rather, it is the similarity f the structural rigidity that was used as the metric. A Special Nte n the Installatin f Speakers ther than Wfers: Speakers that are less than 10 inches in maximum diameter may be installed anywhere in the vehicle, prvided their installatin des nt vilate any ther existing rule. It is permissible t strengthen dr panels at the lcatin where speakers are installed in the drs. Dr pds are als permissible, as are custm fiberglass build-uts r ther mdificatins that are made in rder t accmmdate speakers in the installatin lcatin. General Restrictins Regarding Sund Damping Materials: Sund damping materials may be used t reduce vibratin when installed in accrdance with the manufacturer s recmmended installatin instructins. In certain db Drag Racing divisins the maximum amunt f damping material that

may be used at a given lcatin is limited. (See the Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins sectin fr each divisin fr specific limitatins.) Sme examples f these limitatins are given belw. Street Divisin Examples: A Street Divisin cmpetitr may use 2 layers f damping material n the inside sheet metal f his rf. Hwever, the cmpetitr may nt use 2 layers f damping material n his rf and anther 2 layers n the backside f his fiberbard headliner because this wuld result in a ttal f 4 layers f damping material in this lcatin. A Street Divisin cmpetitr may use 1 layer f damping material n the inside sheet metal f his dr and anther layer f damping material n the backside f his dr panel because 2 layers f damping material are allwed at any given lcatin. On the ther hand, the cmpetitr may nt use 2 layers f damping material n the inside sheet metal f the dr and anther 2 layers f damping material n the backside f the dr panel because this wuld result in a ttal f 4 layers in the dr lcatin which is prhibited. General Restrictins Regarding Seats: G-Cart seats, arcade game seats, dune buggy seats, etc. are nt cnsidered equivalent OEM seat replacements because they d nt clsely resemble the OEM seat in structural rigidity, csmetics, r size. Seats must blted in the OEM lcatins f the vehicle with the exceptin f the Extreme Divisin. A minimum separatin f 12 inches (30.48 cm) must be maintained between the seat and the sensr lcatin at all times. If a seat riginally came with a headrest then the headrest must remain attached t the seat during cmpetitin. Street Stck Divisin Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins 3-9a Nthing in the sund system may interfere with the nrmal use and / r peratin f the vehicle in frnt f the B-Pillar. 3-9b Seats may be flded fr cmpetitin, but may nt be remved frm the vehicle. Cmpetitrs wh fld their seats must be able t demnstrate that the installatin f the sund system des nt interfere with the nrmal peratin f the seats that were flded. Street Divisin Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins 3-10a Mdificatins t the passenger cmpartment are prhibited. The OEM headliner (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place. Grille clth, bx carpet, etc. may nt be attached directly t the sheet metal f the rf in lieu f the headliner. The OEM dr panels (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place. The OEM carpeting (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place. Cut-thrughs in pickup trucks are nt permitted. Sund damping materials may be used t reduce vibratin when installed in accrdance with the manufacturer s recmmended installatin instructins. The

maximum ttal thickness f sund damping material applied at any given lcatin may nt exceed 5/32 inch (4mm). The sund damping applicatin may cnsist f mat-type material, spray-n material, r a cmbinatin f the tw. A maximum f 2 layers f mat-type material may be used at any given lcatin, even if the ttal thickness f the sund damping material(s) is less than 5/32 inch (4mm). Expanding fam may be used sparingly thrughut the vehicle t seal small penings r reduce vibratin, but may nt be used t fill vids r ther large cavities (such as the dashbard r drs). 3-10b Nthing in the sund system may interfere with the nrmal use and / r peratin f the vehicle. 3-10c Seats may be flded fr cmpetitin, but may nt be remved frm the vehicle. Cmpetitrs wh fld their seats must be able t demnstrate that the installatin f the sund system des nt interfere with the nrmal peratin f the seats that were flded. If a vehicle has mre than 2 rws f seating, then the additinal rws (3+) may be remved at the cmpetitr s discretin. 3-10d If the vehicle is an extended-cab r king-cab pickup truck, then the nrmal use restrictin fr jump seats that are lcated behind the frnt seat f the pickup is waived. This waiver nly applies t pickups that have jump seats lcated behind the frnt seat. The dbdra defines a jump seat as an OEM seat that was designed t be flded up against the side r back f the pickup s passenger cmpartment. Jump Seats may nt be remved frm the pickup, but they may be flded in rder t accmmdate the sund system. Street Max Divisin Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins 3-11a Mdificatins t the passenger cmpartment frm the B-Pillar frward are prhibited. The OEM headliner (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place fr thse areas in frnt f the B-Pillar. The OEM dr panels (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place fr thse areas in frnt f the B-Pillar. The OEM carpeting (r an equivalent replacement) must remain in place fr thse areas in frnt f the B-Pillar. Sund damping materials may be used t reduce vibratin when installed in accrdance with the manufacturer s recmmended installatin instructins. The maximum ttal thickness f sund damping material applied at any given lcatin may nt exceed 5/32 inch (4mm). Expanding fam may be used sparingly in frnt f the B-Pillar t seal small penings r reduce vibratin, but may nt be used t fill vids r ther large cavities (such as the dashbard r drs).

3-11b The frnt seats in the vehicle may be flded during cmpetitin. The rear seats may be flded OR remved frm the vehicle. Super Street Divisin Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins 3-12a Mdificatins t the passenger cmpartment frm the B-Pillar frward are prhibited. Fr thse areas lcated in frnt f the B-Pillars, the maximum ttal thickness f sund damping material applied at any given lcatin may nt exceed 5/32 inch (4mm). Fr thse areas lcated behind the B-Pillars, an unlimited amunt f sund damping material(s) may be used. Expanding fam may be used sparingly in frnt f the B-Pillars t seal small penings r reduce vibratin, but may nt be used t fill vids r ther large cavities (such as the dashbard r drs). An unlimited amunt f expanding fam may be used behind the B-Pillars. 3-12b Cmpetitr s may fld r remve any f the seats in the vehicle. Extreme Divisin Passenger Cmpartment Restrictins The fllwing restrictins utline what each cmpetitr MUST d and what each cmpetitr MAY d. All ther mdificatins t the passenger cmpartment are prhibited. 3-13a Each vehicle MUST have a dash. If the dash is an OEM dash, then n external mdificatins t the dash may be made. (Filling the dash with expanding fam r anther material fr structural reinfrcement purpses and/r internal bracing is acceptable as lng as n ther applicable rules are vilated.) Vehicles incrprating the OEM dash are exempt frm the fllwing guidelines with the exceptin f the final bullet pint which discusses the relatinship between the dash and the windshield. The highest pint f the tp f the dash may nt extend abve the hrizntal plane defined by the bttm f the windshield. The lwest pint f the tp f the dash may nt be lcated any lwer than 3 inches (7.62 cm) belw the hrizntal plane defined by the bttm f the windshield.

The minimum depth f the dash at the center f the vehicle shall be 6 inches (15.24 cm) when measured frm the edge f the dash t the windshield. The maximum depth shall be 16 inches (40.64 cm). The plane f the dash bunded in the frnt by the firewall, in the back by the trailing edge f the dash, and fr a distance f 12 inches t the left and 12 inches t the right (measured hrizntally) f the sensr placement lcatin must be cmpletely flat with respect t the grund.

The dash must be cmpletely slid (with n hles r perfratins) and must extend frnt-t-back frm the firewall t the trailing edge f the dash, and side-tside frm the windshield pillar n the driver s side t the windshield pillar n the passenger side. The trailing edge f the dash (the edge f the dash that faces the passenger cmpartment) must be straight and perpendicular t the centerline f the vehicle when viewed frm the tp. The relatinship between the dash and the windshield shall be such that the sensr can be placed n the windshield and the prper distances frm the sensr t the dash (4 inches r cm) and the sensr t the windshield pillar (12 inches r cm) can be achieved. 3-13b Each vehicle MAY have a center cnsle. The center cnsle may nt exceed the height f the lwest part f the tp f the dash. A minimum pen space distance f 13 inches (33.02 cm) MUST be prvided at ALL pints between each side f the center cnsle and each dr. (Measured hrizntally and perpendicular t the centerline f the vehicle.) Center cnsles must nt interfere with the String Test. Cmpetitrs may ntch their cnsles r make the cnsle easily remvable t cmply with this requirement. If n center cnsle is present, then the 13 inches (33.02 cm) clsest t each dr will be treated as the pen space area. 3-13c Cmpetitrs MAY cnstruct a rf build-dwn if desired. The build-dwn may nt extend mre than 3 inches (7.62 cm) belw the tp f the dr jamb. Fr thse lcatins in frnt f the dr (between the dr and the windshield) and behind the dr (between the dr and the baffle bard), the rf build-dwn may nt extend mre than 3 inches (7.62 cm) belw the lwest part f the tp f the dr jamb. Fr drs with curved dr penings, the reference pint shall be defined as the intersectin between tw imaginary lines as shwn in Figure 3-13c.

Figure 3-13c Intersecting Reference Pint fr curved dr penings. 3-13d Cmpetitrs MAY cnstruct flr build-ups. 3-13e Cmpetitrs MAY cnstruct a remvable r flip-dwn panel(s) t cver the OEM ft wells. In the interest f safety, cmpetitrs are encuraged nt t mdify the vehicle s OEM ft pedals (acceleratr pedal, brake pedal, clutch, and parking brake). 3-13f Cmpetitrs MUST maintain a minimum 30 inch (76.2 cm) vertical separatin between the headliner (rf build-dwn) and the flr (flr build-up) at ALL lcatins within the passenger cmpartment except ver the center cnsle and the dash. A 30-inch (76.2 cm) rd will be used t determine cmpliance. The judge will hld the rd vertically and mve it arund inside f the passenger cmpartment. If the rd s mvement is impeded, then the vehicle fails cmpliance with this rule. Bracing lcated utside f the pen space area defined in sectin 3-13b shall nt cnstitute an impediment t this test.

Figure 3-13f1 In the abve example, the tp trailing edge f the dash defines the vertical plane that is used t establish the frnt-t-back Free Space area. (Nte hw the dash is NOT lcated cmpletely beneath the OEM windshield lcatin.) Nt t Scale. Nte the ramp that is used t transitin frm the trailing edge f the dash t the flr build-up. The Rd Test will be applied within the Free Space area bunded by the dashed lines. Nt t Scale. 3-13g Cmpetitrs MAY build-ut their dr panels if desired. The maximum distance the build-ut may extend int the passenger cmpartment is 6 inches (15.24 cm). (Measured frm the sheet metal f the dr where the OEM dr panel was riginally attached.) Cavities in drs are prhibited. (A cavity is a negative build-ut that prtrudes int the dr s interir space.)

3-13h Cmpetitrs MAY install bracing if desired. Additinal Guidelines and Examples: The maximum aggregate width fr all bracing in frnt f the B-Pillars is 6 inches (15.24cm). (T determine cmpliance with this guideline, find the widest pint n each f yur braces. Next, add these maximum widths tgether. The ttal value must be 6 inches (15.24 cm) r less.) The pen space area defined in sectin 3-13b must remain free f bracing. If the brace Y s int 2 r mre arms, then the width f the brace shall be cnsidered as either the sum f the widest pint n each arm, r the maximum width f the single leg, whichever is larger. Example 1: A cmpetitr is using a single 4 x 4 brace frm the rf t the flr. The widest dimensin f the brace is 4 inches, s the cmpetitr is in cmpliance. Example 2: A cmpetitr is using a single 2 x 4 brace frm the rf t the flr. The widest dimensin f the brace is 4 inches, s the cmpetitr is in cmpliance. Example 3: A cmpetitr is using tw 2 x 4 braces frm the rf t the flr. The widest dimensin n bth braces is 4 inches. The maximum aggregate width fr the cmpetitr s braces is = 8 inches, which is mre than is allwable. Example 4: A cmpetitr has a 2 x 2 brace frm the dash t the ceiling, anther 2 x 2 brace frm the dash t the flr, and a 3 rd 2 x 2 brace frm the flr t the ceiling. The maximum aggregate width fr the cmpetitr s braces is = 6 inches, s the cmpetitr is in cmpliance. Example 5: A cmpetitr is using tw 3 diameter pipes frm the flr t the ceiling. The widest dimensin f each pipe is 3 inches. The maximum aggregate width fr the cmpetitr s braces is = 6 inches, s the cmpetitr is in cmpliance. Sectin 4 - Vehicle Regulatins 4-1 The vehicle must be driven int and ut f the judging lanes. The vehicle s mtr must be used t prpel the vehicle int and ut f the judging lanes. (Starter mtrs, etc. may nt be used as a means f prpulsin.) Exceptin: Sme events may prhibit the peratin f mtr vehicles. In situatins such as this, r when safety is an issue, cmpliance with this rule is waived. 4-2 The size and lcatin f the vehicle s drs must nt be altered.

Extreme cmpetitrs may install blt tabs r a blt strip (fr securing the drs) alng the perimeter f the dr penings prvided the maximum width f each tab r strip is less than 2 inches (5.08 cm). If a blt tab r blt strip is attached t the B-Pillar, it must be easily remvable t permit cmpliance with the string test. The drjambs may nt be mdified in an effrt t circumvent the string test (see Sectin 6-2 later in this rulebk). As a minimum, the vehicle must have a dr fr the driver and anther fr the passenger. Each f these drs must be lcated in the traditinal lcatins fr the driver and passenger. (i.e. Oppsite sides f the vehicle.) Exceptin: Vehicles that were riginally manufactured with nly ne dr. (i.e. Mail delivery jeep.) Adhesive fam tape may be used in lieu f the factry dr seal. (Yu may use ne r the ther but nt bth.) The maximum thickness f the tape is limited t 0.5 inches (1.27 cm). This limitatin des nt apply t Extreme Divisin cmpetitrs. 4-3 This rule (4-3) applies t Extreme Divisin cmpetitrs nly. The OEM glass in the windshield and / r side windws f the vehicle may be replaced with anther material as lng as that material apprximates the lcatin and functinality f the riginal equipment. (i.e. Plexiglas, bullet-prf glass, r anther fully transparent material.) The slant f the replacing material must apprximate that f the OEM glass. The maximum ttal thickness fr any replacement material is 4 inches (10.16 cm). A unifrm material thickness must be used fr all windshield panels. (Each panel in the windshield must be f the same material and thickness.) A unifrm material thickness must be used within each side windw panel. (Each panel in a side windw must be f the same material and thickness.) Cnsistency must nly be maintained within a given windw. The relatinship between the dash and the windshield shall be such that the sensr can be placed n the windshield and the prper distances frm the sensr t the dash (4 inches r cm) and the sensr t the windshield pillar (12 inches r cm) can be achieved The unbstructed viewing area fr the frnt windshield must be 4 square feet (0.3716m^2) r larger. The unbstructed viewing area must be symmetrical in nature, with equivalent transparent areas n bth the driver and passenger sides f the vehicle. Imprtant: Only areas f the windshield that are nt impeded in any way will be cnsidered unbstructed. This includes windw tint. There is n limit t the number f external windshield braces that may be used as lng as their existence des nt vilate ther applicable rules. A secndary windshield and / r windws may be used in cnjunctin with the OEM glass as lng as the maximum distance separating the tw materials des nt exceed ¼ inch (6.35 mm) at the center f the windshield and / r windw. The unbstructed viewing area fr the driver and passenger side windws must be 200 square inches (1290cm^2) r larger (per windw). Side windws d nt need t be peratinal. (They dn t need t rll up r dwn.) Cmpetitrs wh have replaced the passenger side windws with Plexiglas r anther similar material must prvide a 1-inch (2.54 cm) diameter hle (with stpper) thrugh a transparent area f the material fr the measurement sensr cable.

4-4 Mdificatins t the external OEM skin (bdy) f the vehicle are nt permitted if the mdificatin in questin will result in a change in the vehicle s interir vlume. The dbdra defines the skin f the vehicle as the external shell (tp, frnt, back, and sides) f the vehicle s OEM bdy that gives the vehicle its distinctive appearance. This is als the part f the vehicle that is nrmally painted. The underside r undercarriage f the vehicle is nt cnsidered t be a part f the OEM skin. Chp-tps are prhibited. Nn-OEM extended rfs are prhibited. Nn-OEM vehicle extensins r stretches are prhibited. Cut-thrughs in pickup trucks are permitted in the Street Max, Super Street, and Extreme Divisins prvided the enclsure and / r ther equipment that is lcated in the bed f the truck des nt extend abve the sidewalls f the bed. If the pickup has a cmmercially available camper shell, then the sidewall restrictin des nt apply. Hmemade camper shells are strictly prhibited. Mdificatins that are strictly csmetic in nature, r that d nt affect the internal vlume f the vehicle are permissible. This includes spilers, hd scps, air dams, fender flares, etc. Crushing in the rf r the drs f the vehicle in such a manner as t alter the vehicle s interir vlume is prhibited. External bracing n the skin f the vehicle is prhibited. 4-5 The fficiating staff must be affrded a clear view inside f the vehicle when lking thrugh the windshield and side windws f the vehicle. Windw tint, stickers, r ther materials which culd cclude the judge s view may nt be placed n the windshield within a 6 inch (15.24 cm) radius f the sensr placement lcatin. Sectin 5 Aut Sund Equipment Regulatins All f the aut sund equipment used in the cmpetitr s sund system must satisfy the fllwing guidelines: 5-1 All aut sund equipment must be designed fr installatin and peratin in a 12-Vlt aut sund envirnment. 5-2 All aut sund equipment must be (r have been) cmmercially available. The determinatin as t whether a prduct is (r was) cmmercially available shall be at the sle discretin f the dbdra. Equipment must be available fr purchase thrugh legitimate aut sund retailers. Fr clarificatin purpses, the dbdra defines a legitimate retailer as any business that is legally licensed t cnduct aut sund related transactins, perates a retail establishment that is pen fr business at least 40 hurs per week, and is a factry authrized dealer fr the equipment in questin. 5-3 All aut sund amplifiers must be linear in nature. The amplifiers used in the sund system shuld be designed fr audi reprductin. Fr clarificatin purpses, the amplifier s utput wavefrm shuld

be a clse facsimile t that f the input signal. In additin, the amplifier s utput magnitude shuld be prprtinal t that f the input signal. All f these guidelines apply t frequencies between 20 and 80 Hz. The determinatin as t whether an amplifier is acceptable fr use in db Drag Racing cmpetitin shall be at the sle discretin f the dbdra. N embedded active pwer surces (such as batteries) may reside inside f the amplifier. 5-4 The prgram material must be reprduced using cnventinal ludspeakers (subwfers). The determinatin as t whether a ludspeaker is acceptable fr use in db Drag Racing cmpetitin shall be at the sle discretin f the dbdra. The dbdra defines a cnventinal ludspeaker as a sund reprducing electrmechanical transducer that incrprates a cne, surrund, basket, and vicecil. The ludspeaker must be pwered directly by the audi amplifier(s). Ludspeakers incrprating serv mechanisms, actuatrs, r any ther frm f mechanically pwered mtr are specifically prhibited. A maximum f 4 electrical cnductrs may be cnnected t each wfer as lng as n ther applicable rules are vilated. A maximum f 2 amplifiers may be cnnected t each cil n a wfer. Cmpressed air, explsive devices, etc. are expressly frbidden. 5-5 Aut sund equipment intrduced less than 60 days prir t the Seasn Cut-Off date will nt be permitted at the Finals r at ANY multi-pint event. (Prducts must actually be shipping and cmmercially available at retailers 60 days prir t the deadline date.) Please visit fr specific deadline infrmatin. 5-6 Cmpetitin vehicles and aut sund systems may NOT be altered during cmpetitin at the Finals r at ANY multi-pint event. Only damaged equipment may be replaced and the equipment being replaced may nly be replaced with an equivalent cmpnent. The determinatin as t whether a prduct is an equivalent cmpnent shall be at the sle discretin f the dbdra. Exceptin: At the Wrld Finals, cmpnents may nly be replaced with an identical (exact replacement same brand and mdel) cmpnent. Additinal Guidelines and Examples: This rule des nt apply t surce units r signal prcessrs. The perid f time frm which alteratins are prhibited begins with the start f the event (registratin) and ends with the awards ceremny at the cnclusin f the event. Yu may replace a brken 400-Watt amplifier with anther brand s 400-Watt amplifier. Yu may nt replace a 400-Watt amp with a 1000-Watt amp. (The replacement amp s rated utput pwer must be within +/- 20% f the riginal amp s rated utput pwer.) Yu may adjust the tuning frequency f yur enclsure by adjusting the enclsure s vent. Yu may nt rebuild r replace the enclsure. Yu may nt rebuild r mdify yur vehicle s interir.

Sectin 6 - Installatin Regulatins 6-1 Sund prducing devices must nt interfere with the measurement equipment. This includes, but is nt limited t; hrns, wave-guides, vents, r ther devices that are deliberately placed in clse prximity t the measurement sensr. (Intent: Nthing shall interfere with the measurement equipment.) 6-2 All ludspeaker enclsures, and / r baffle bards, with the exceptin f thse munted in the kick-panels r drs, shall be lcated behind an imaginary plane that stretches frm the trailing edge f the driver s dr t the trailing edge f the passenger dr. In this rulebk, the terms B-Pillar and Drjamb are smetimes used when referring t this imaginary plane. Cmpliance with this rule may be verified by using the fllwing test: Tw judges psitin themselves n ppsite sides f the vehicle. A string (r wire) is passed thrugh the pen drs f the vehicle. Bth judges pull the string s that it is taught. Next, the judges mve the string in unisn s that the string slides alng the trailing edge f each judge s respective drjamb. If the string des nt tuch the enclsure (r ludspeakers), then the test passes. Any cmpnents that are attached t the ludspeaker enclsure, including speakers, amplifiers, signal prcessrs, etc., are cnsidered t be a part f the ludspeaker enclsure. If any prtin f the cmpetitr s installatin interferes with the judge s ability t perfrm the string test, then the interfering bstructin must be easily remvable. Additinal Guidelines Related t Pickup Trucks Only: If the vehicle is a standard pickup truck (nt an extended-cab r king-cab) and the subwfer enclsure is munted behind the frnt seat, cmpliance with the string test (rule 6-2) is nt required. If the vehicle is a standard pickup truck (nt an extended-cab r king-cab) and the installatin incrprates a cut-thrugh t the bed f the truck, then cmpliance with the string test (rule 6-2) will still be required. If the vehicle is an extended-cab r king-cab pickup truck, then cmpliance with the string test (rule 6-2) will still be required. 6-3 The maximum vltage f the vehicle's electrical system shall nt exceed 14.0 vlts DC in the Street and Street Max divisins, 16.0 vlts DC in the Street Stck divisin, r 18.0 vlts DC in the Super Street and Extreme divisins at any time during the 30-secnd SPL metering prcess. The sund system in the vehicle must be pwered by the vehicle s primary electrical system. This system, which is cmprised f the alternatr(s), battery (r batteries), and distributin system, must in turn be pwered by the vehicle s engine. Exceptin: Cmpliance with this guideline is nt required prvided the vehicle s engine is nt running while the vehicle is being metered.

External generatrs, fuel cells, battery chargers, etc. may nt be used in the judging lanes. 6-4 All f the cmpnents in the sund system (with the exceptin f an external pdium r surce unit) must be lcated within the external OEM skin f the vehicle. (This includes, but is nt limited t alternatrs, batteries, amplifiers, enclsures, and speakers.) If the vehicle is a pickup truck, then equipment may be installed in the bed f the truck prvided the bed is cvered by a cmmercially available bed cver r camper. Alternately, the equipment may be installed inside f a tl bx. In classes where a n-wall restrictin exists, cmpliance with the wall test will still be required. 6-5 The dbdra defines a speaker wall as any subwfer enclsure and / r baffle bard that exceeds the height f an imaginary plane that stretches hrizntally frm the lwermst pint f the windw pening in the driver s dr (where the side windw enters the dr frame) t the lwermst pint f the windw pening in the passenger s dr n the ppsite side f the vehicle. Cmpliance with this rule may be verified by using the fllwing test: Tw judges psitin themselves n ppsite sides f the vehicle. A string (r wire) is passed thrugh the pen windw n the driver s side, thrugh the interir f the vehicle, and ut f the pen windw n the passenger side f the vehicle. Bth judges shuld then pull the string s that it is taught while resting against the lwest pint within the windw pening. If the enclsure in questin des nt exceed the height f this string, then the enclsure is nt cnsidered t be a wall. If any part f the enclsure exceeds the height f the string, then the enclsure is cnsidered a wall. Any cmpnents that are attached t (r resting n) the subwfer enclsure, including speakers, amplifiers, signal prcessrs, etc., are cnsidered t be a part f the subwfer enclsure. Cmpetitrs may nt deflate their rear tires r therwise change the nrmal attitude f the vehicle with respect t the grund in an effrt t circumvent this test. Exceptins: If the subwfer enclsure is installed in the trunk f a vehicle, then cmpliance with the wall test is nt required. 6-6 Additinal installatin limitatins are determined by the divisin a cmpetitr is cmpeting in. Street Stck Divisin Installatin Restrictins 6-7a Speaker enclsures extending abve the tp f the frnt seats (excluding head rests) are prhibited. Walls are prhibited. 6-7b All ludspeaker enclsures and/r baffle bards with the exceptin f thse munted in the kick-panels r drs shall be lcated behind the B-pillar.
