All ETH buildings are abslutely smke-free. 2 2 Travel infrmatin Frm Zurich Airprt (Klten) After reclaiming baggage, fllw the signs "Bahn/Railway" t ticket cunters and machines. There are English instructins n the machines; fllw them r simply press the left (red) key at the bttm where it says "Zurich City". The machine accepts cins as well as bankntes and gives change. The ticket is valid during the next hur fr any train t Zurich as well as fr the trams and buses in the city (streetcar / tram). Take an escalatr dwn t the platfrms 3 r 4. Trains t city centre leave apprx. every 10 minutes and take abut 10 minutes t reach Zurich main statin (Zurich HB). Yu can als purchase a 24 hur ticket fr all trains, trams, and buses in Zurich by making the apprpriate selectin n the machine. Mre inf is available n Yu may als take a taxi directly t ETH Zentrum (the dwn-twn campus). It csts arund sfr. Hwever, during rush hur trains are faster and always cheaper. Tram stp with tram n 10 Cnference Venue Zürich Main Train Statin Tram stp with tram n 6 Frm Zurich Main Statin At the main statin walk t the head f the train and fllw any signs t Bahnhfplatz å (tram 10, just next t main statin) and "Bahnhfstrasse" (tram 6, arund 100 m dwn the Bahnhfstrasse). If yu arrived by train and haven't yet gt a tram ticket, yu must nw buy ne frm the blue ticket machine. Depending n yur needs, yu can buy a day ticket which is valid fr 24 hurs fr all trams and buses in the main zne (zne 10) f the city r, if all yu need is t reach the ETH, press the yellw buttn. Frm the main statin yu reach ETH Campus Zentrum in six minutes with tram n. 10 (directin Bahnhf Oerlikn r Irchel at night) frm tram stp Bahnhfplatz r tram n. 6 (directin Z) frm tram stp Bahnhfstrasse t the stp ETH/Universitätsspital (the 3rd stp). Yu may als crss the Limmat river (2-3 minutes) and take the Plybahn at Central. 2

The fllwing partial map shws the transprtatin netwrk arund the cnference venue (ETH main campus) 3 The cnference site AIM 2007 will be held in the CHN building f ETH s main campus in dwn-twn Zurich. Fur technical sessins will be held in parallel in rms CHN E42, CHN E46, CHN F42 and CHN F46. The main entrance f this building is n flr E. 6 AIM The banquet site th The banquet will be held n Thursday, September 6, at htel Ut Kulm, which is lcated n a small muntain called Uetliberg ffering a panramic view f the entire city f Zürich including the Lake. Hw t get there T reach the banquet lcatin, yu have t take a train frm Zürich main statin (Hauptbahnhf). Yu will get the train ticket at the registratin desk with the rest f the material. This train is the S10 frm the special Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg (SZU) train line. It leaves frm platfrm 2, which is lcated n the lwer level f the main statin at the suthern edge f the area (see map belw). A special train bked exclusively fr AIM cnference participants will leave the statin at 19:16. If unfrtunately yu wuld miss this train, regular trains are scheduled every half-hur (every 06 and 36 frm 9:00 t 22:00) and take abut 20 minutes t reach the final statin: Uetliberg. T get back t Zürich after the banquet, yu can take the same train, which leaves Uetliberg every 07 and 37 until 23:00 (last departure: 23:37, dn t miss it!). 6

8 6 Guidelines and equipment fr presentatins Please cntact yur chairman 10 minutes befre the start f yur sessin. Each presentatin is scheduled fr a 15 minutes talk and 5 minutes f discussin. Please prepare yur presentatin accrdingly. Each presentatin rm will be equipped with an verhead prjectr and a beamer fr presenting frm yur wn laptp. If yu need specific equipment, please infrm us well in advance (AIM2007@ethz.ch). We will have an AIM staff member (red T-shirt) in each presentatin rm t help yu with all technical and rganizatinal issues. Please infrm us as sn as pssible if yu have any prblem with yur presentatin time. 7 Other useful infrmatin Climate The climate in Switzerland is usually pretty nice in early September with little rain. Yu shuld expect temperatures arund 20 C during the day and arund 10 C at night. Early September is still a gd seasn fr hiking, sightseeing and ther utdr activities. With a little luck, yu will even be able t enjy swimming in the Limmat river (e.g., at the Flussbad Oberer Letten). Sightseeing in Zürich and Switzerland Zürich ffers varius attractins and museums and has a nice dwn-twn shpping area. Zurich Z Tram 6 will take yu uphill t get a beautiful view f Zürich City, with the pssibility t take a very nice walk t the impressive Zurich Z. Old twn full f art galleries, antique and bk shps, raming in the ld twn is a pleasant way t discver the histrical side f Zurich. Niederdrf - during the day this is a pedestrian zne and a shpper's paradise with lts f butiques hidden away in a patchwrk f alleys. At night the many bars, restaurants and street artists turn the Niederdrf int an exciting and clrful center f entertainment. Finally, September is still a gd seasn fr hiking and Zürich can be cnsidered as the gateway t the Alps.
