1 TEMP COAT APPLICATION FOR VESSEL LOCATION mv ARK FORWARDER IMO MMSI call sign 5BQY3 IMMINGHAM - ESJBERG DATE 28 th January - 5 th February 2014 OBJECTIVE To apply Temp coat to HT water pipework Heat Exchangers, Header tanks and associated pipework to reduce energy consumption in accordance to Northern Marines key objectives ATTENDING VESSEL CHIEF ENGINEER JOHN COATES NEXUS RAY VENABLES NEXUS STEVE ROGERS

2 Existing coating system Thermal image survey Surface Preparation Required Coating system applied Areas around Machinery and engines that are prone to oil saturation single pack Alkyd system To identify areas of heat loss and address with application of Temp coat to desired thickness Clean and Degrease Engine andlarge areas of pipework which showed evidence of baked on oil deposits also beneath deck plates and bilges very oily which was also evident on large areas of HT water pipes feeding from Heat exchanger, alfa laval units to rear of engines. Remove loose and flaking paint to areas of identified heat loss See photos of very poor preparation and flaking deposits to header tank areas and associated pipework 4 x 500 microns of TEMPCOAT Crew advised and agreed to apply topcoat to said area 1x 50 microns of Hemucryl or alternative single pack water based topcoat In addition to inspected areas the Chief Engineer pointed out additional areas that were beyond our remit but are incurring major costs due to both heating and keeping areas cool when the vessel operates in different areas 1. Underside of Accommodation areas approx 200 sq metres, this can easily be addressed by coating with 2 x 375 microns of Temp coat and top coated with ships supply white topcoat at microns time to complete job 4 day [ see photos ] thermal imaging of steel areas under accomodation taken averaging between 6 to -9 degrees Centigrade, [see photos 22-24] 2. Bridge Roof approx 250 sq metres this can be easily addressed by coating with 2 x 375 microns of Tempcoat and Top coated with ships supply topcoat for Deck areas, again allow 3 day to complete job. See photos of Bridge floor [ ] exterior steelwork would witness similar steel temperatures to the external accomodation areas. 3. Pipes to internal areas Accommodation area to Bow thruster, pipes are at present clad with rubber and foam insulation which has broken down showing issues of CUI. Although all the above areas were outside Nexus remit for the vessel, the Chief Engineer pointed out that these areas were using considerable quantities of energy to keep either warm or cool dependant on where the vessel operated from and the time of year
