2 THIS IS TO CERTIFY that the undersigned Marine Surveyor did on February 27, 2018 at the request of Mr. XXXXXXX, conduct an engine survey of the above captioned twin screw diesel powered, yacht while subject vessel was lying afloat at the docks of Beach Marine in Jacksonville, Florida and underway on the Intra- Coastal Waterway, in order to ascertain the machinery condition for pre-purchase consideration. ** ASTERIKS INDICATES DISCREPANCY ADDRESSED IN FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS STARBOARD ENGINE Make: Cummins Model: QSB 5.9 Serial: CPL: 8464 H.P.: 330 Year: 2006 Controls: Electronic Shaft size: 2" Stainless steel. Shaft seal: Drip less seal Idle: 634 RPM Max. Full Load RPM: Specified 2800 Attained 2864 Hours: 751 (per ECU). RPM COMMENTS: Engine was monitored electronically utilizing Cummins software and adapter. Engine was also monitored visually. A sea trial was conducted and snapshots taken of operation at cruise speed as well as wide open throttle/full load. The results are in this report. OBSERVATIONS: Engine started quickly with no smoke when cold. Oil pressure is to specification cold and when warm. Coolant temperature is to specification through all ranges of operation. There was no excessive vibration noted underway. There was no smoke through all speed ranges. No coolant leaks or oil leaks were noted during operation. Engine alarms for lube oil, jacket water temperature were operational. COOLING SYSTEM: The cooling system is heat exchanger type, with an engine driven raw water pump circulating seawater through an engine mounted after cooler, heat exchanger, transmission cooler, injected into the exhaust system and overboard. The jacket water is circulated through the engine by an engine mounted pump, through the heat exchanger and lube oil cooler in a closed loop transferring heat from jacket coolant to saltwater. The jacket water coolant was observed in the expansion tank as clear with no visible contamination. The jacket water cooling system was pressure tested to cap rating of 15 PSI with no leaks noted. Coolant system hoses are in visually good condition. ** The raw water system was observed in operation with no visible leakage. The sea strainers were clean and through hull valves operated. There is no history or evidence of the heat exchanger being cleaned** # PAGE 2 OF 20

3 AIR AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: The engine is turbocharged with an after cooler. ** Engine is equipped with a Walker Air Sep air cleaner. There is no evidence of exhaust leaks. Turbochargers had no leaks on either intake or exhaust sides Exhaust system is composed of an insulated stainless steel riser, fiberglass tubing and hose and exits through the engine room bottom underwater underway and through the transom when idle. It is supported utilizing straps Exhaust system is double clamped with stainless steel clamps and is in good condition where viewed** LUBE OIL SYSTEM: The main engines are equipped with full flow spin on oil filters that are original equipment with the engines. There is a Reverso pump out system for both main engines and the generator engine. There was no oil leaks observed during operation. Most engine oil hoses are original and are beyond the manufacturers recommended life. ** ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM: The main engines are equipped with Racor filter/water separator units as primary filtration. Cummins secondary fuel filter is mounted on engine. The main engines fuel system is adequate and the only recommendation I have is to replace old hoses most are original and are beyond the manufacturers recommended life. ** COATINGS: Engine and gear coatings appear as original and are in fair to good condition but have random rust spots.** ENGINE MOUNTS: Elastomeric design and construction. Back down test indicated that they were sound with no movement. However the raw water pumps are mounted directly over the left side mounts. During impeller service saltwater leaks onto the mounts resulting in excessive rust. ** PORT ENGINE Make: Cummins Model: QSB 5.9 Serial: CPL: 8464 H.P.: 330 Year: 2006 # PAGE 3 OF 20

4 Controls: electronic Shaft size: 2" Stainless steel. Shaft seal: Dripless seal. Idle: 628 RPM Max. Full Load RPM: Specified 2800 Attained 2824 Hours: 753 (per ECU). RPM COMMENTS: Engine was monitored electronically utilizing Cummins software and adapter. Engine was also monitored visually. COATINGS: Engine and gear coatings appear as original and are in good condition considering the age of the boat. but have random rust spots that should be attended to. ** ENGINE MOUNTS: Elastomeric design and construction. Back down test indicated that they were sound with no movement. However the raw water pumps are mounted directly over the left side mounts. During impeller service saltwater leaks onto the mounts resulting in excessive rust. ** TRANSMISSIONS/REVERSE GEARS: Manufacturer: ZF Model: 80A Port: Serial: Ratio: 1.96:1 Model: 80A Stbd.: Serial: 17629P Ratio: 1.96:1 The transmissions fluid was to the mark. Units shifted smoothly with no evidence of leakage, were quiet and operated normally.. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION MOUNTS: All mounts were of elastomeric design and construction. All were observed to be tight with no noticeable movement during operation or during back down test. PROPELLER SHAFTS: Propeller shafts are one piece 2 stainless steel coupled to gearbox. SHAFT SEALS: Shafts are equipped Drip less seals. ENGINE CONTROLS: Electronic. # PAGE 5 OF 20

6 GENERATOR Make: Onan Model: 9MDKBL-5201B Serial: G KW. 9 Volts: 120 Hours: 523 (per meter). RPM: 1800 Hz: 60 Oil Pressure: 44 Coolant Temp: 163 Volts: 13.7 Engine started easily and ran well. BELTS: Belt was tight and in good condition. COOLING SYSTEM: Coolant level and condition appear good with no apparent leakage. Hoses are original and are nearing the end of their useful life. ** There is no history or evidence of the heat exchanger being cleaned** LUBE OIL SYSTEM: Oil level to mark. No visual evidence of contamination. Spin on filter. No leakage observed in operation. Hoses are original and are nearing the end of their useful life. ** FUEL SYSTEM: Single Racor filter water separator and engine mounted secondary fuel filter. Hoses are original and are nearing the end of their useful life. ** EXHAUST SYSTEM: Pipe from exhaust elbow, clamps and hose from exhaust elbow to overboard are good where viewed. Hoses are original and are nearing the end of their useful life. ** SOUND SHIELD: MOUNTS: Sound shield in fair to poor condition. There is rust on the top cover of the box that may have been the result of a leaking vacuum break/hose for the raw water overboard cooling water. ** Access to the expansion tank cap for checking/filling is challenging at best ** The insulation material is deteriorating and large sections are missing ** Engine mounts are elastomeric in design and construction and looked serviceable. ENGINE ALARMS: Engine alarms for lube oil, jacket water temperature were operational. OBSERVATIONS: Generator started and ran well. Oil pressure and coolant temperatures were to specification. 18 FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS PORT MAIN ENGINE 1. Coolant system hoses are in visually good condition but are 12 years old or more. ** Most hose manufacturers give their rubber hoses a shelf life of 10 years. Service life is less than 10 years and is dependent upon operating conditions. Recommend: Consider replacing hoses in the near future. 2. Exhaust system hose is double clamped with stainless steel clamps and is in good condition where viewed but are 12 years old or more **. Recommend: Consider replacing hoses in the near future. 3. Most engine fuel hoses appear to be original and are beyond the manufacturer's recommended useable life. Recommend: Consider replacing hoses in the near future. 4. Most engine oil hoses are original and are visually good but are 12 years old or more. ** Recommend: Consider replacing hoses in the near future. 5. Engine mount under raw water pump is rusting due to impeller service. Recommend: Remove rust and preserve. 6. There is no history or evidence of the aftercooler being serviced. Recommend: remove, pressure test and clean aftercooler. 7. There is no history or evidence of the heat exchanger being removed and cleaned. Recommend: Remove and clean and descale. Service all zincs. STARBOARD MAIN ENGINE: 1. Coolant system hoses are in visually good condition but are 12 years old or more. ** Most hose manufacturers give their rubber hoses a shelf life of 10 years. The insulation material is deteriorating and large sections are missing ** Recommend: Remove sound shield and install an adequate hatch toallow easier access to expansion # PAGE 18 OF 20

19 tank cap. Install new insulation. Prep and paint sound shield. Or remove and replace sound shield. 4. All engine hoses are visibly in good condition but are near the end of their useful life. Recommend: Consider replacing hoses in the near future. 5. There is no history or evidence of the heat exchanger being cleaned. Recommend: Clean and de-scale. Service all zincs. # PAGE 19 OF 20

20 SUMMARY Mr. XXXXXX The main engines, reverse gears and generator all ran well and functioned as they should. The oil samples indicated normal operation and condition. The fault logs downloaded for each engine indicated no active faults and the inactive faults were inconsequential. The heat exchangers end caps were removed and seals changed according to the service manager at Marine Max Rick Adams. There is no indication that the after coolers have been removed and serviced so they are overdue and should be serviced as soon as convenient. I partially removed the belt covers on the front of both engines to look at the alternator drive belt and the serpentine belt. Both belts looked serviceable on both engines but there is belt dust on the starboard engine which indicates accelerated wear. I recommend you replace the belts first opportunity to establish a known date for maintenance. The engines, reverse gears and generator are all over 12 years old. Hose manufacturers generally place a 10 year "shelf Life" on their rubber products. The operational life is shorter depending on operational conditions. I recommend that you begin changing them out as opportunities arise. The paint/coatings on all of the engines, gears and generator are in need of attention. It is the time in the boats life when the rust should be removed and the engines painted. The generator sound shield is in need of repair or better yet replacement. I would make sure I put a larger hatch on top for coolant cap access. You are a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to the engineering end of boats, that is very rare. This is a nice boat, if you give it the attention it needs I believe you will have a great boat.
