3 999 AP STATE SUMMARY REPORT TABLES These AP State Reports are produced n response to the ncreasng nterest by educatonal leaders n obtanng annual profles of AP Program partcpaton n ther states. The content and format of these comprehensve reports were developed n collaboraton wth a number of chef state school offcers and ther staffs. The reports provde an opportunty for educators and educatonal polcymakers to better understand the academc preparaton of the growng numbers of college-bound students who take one or more AP Exams n a gven year. n addton the reports provde a backdrop aganst whch school and college admnstrators and faculty can examne Advanced Placement Program partcpaton by ther students. These reports can also be used for academc plannng by schools and colleges. The organzaton of the followng state tables s dentcal to the natonal summary report tables whch begn on page 7. n addton to the tables found n the natonal report however the state report contans two addtonal tables: n-state and Out-of-State Colleges Recevng the Greatest Number of AP Grades for Students from the State. The state tables are followed by a worksheet wth examples of how to analyze the data n the tables. The frst example for each table s dentcal to the examples for the natonal tables (see page 7); smply supply the correspondng data for the state. A second example s provded for each table on the state worksheet to further llustrate how the data can be used as the bass for both nternal and external reports. n the followng tables for each racal/ethnc group (self-reported by students) AP grade dstrbutons totals and mean (average) grades for each AP Examnaton are gven. The last column n each table summarzes the performance of AP canddates at each grade level. The AP gradng scale should be nterpreted as follows: ~o0ot00~00o400~o~04t0444~00o00~ to0~4~0~4~44o4o4~t~o~04~40+~4~+~+~e44t~44o~44~440*0~04~00o~4~440404~o+4+0~44o0 3
