3 modlar intelligent active filters MODULAR INTELLIGENT ACTIVE FILTER The Prodct family MιA from Condensator Dominit GmbH is the newest generation of crrent controlled active filters which maximize vales and minimize losses. Freqency converters and other energy efficient soltions play a sbstantial role in or energy transition policy. Unfortnately, becase this kind of eqipment has a non-linear U-I-characteristic, it cases critical system pertrbations by harmonics. Active filters provide redction of harmonic crrents, reactive power, flicker minimization and grid balancing. These provisions are necessary in grids, where the pertrbations lead to non-compliance with relevant standards. EN describes the pertrbation types for pblic low- and medim voltage distribtion networks. These compatability level gidelines state the minimm reqirements for a long-term falt-free operation of consmers in the grid. EN describes simltaneosly the compatibility levels in the indstrial grid. EMC Class 2 of this standard is compliant with EN Devices for pblic grids may therefore operate in class 2 indstrial grids. If compliance levels given in standards are exceeded, malfnctions of prodction relevant machines and control systems can occr. Sppliers of these devices are then free to withhold the warranty and they are not liable for damage claims. MιA provides the necessary conformity with standards in yor distribtion system and therefore gards against distrbances, failres and loss of warranty and rights of compensation. 5 modlar intelligent active filters MιA GRID INTEGRATION The connection of MιA to the distribtion system is carried ot parallel to the consmers. De to this, prodction processes are not inflenced dring installation or maintenance. The operation of the active filter can be inflenced in varios ways throgh the selection of the installation point. It is possible to filter selected loads as well as complete grid areas. Additionally, MιA can be operated in closed or open-loop configration. In a closed-loop configration, the signal of the CTs is measred on the grid side of filter and load. If it is not physically possible to install the CTs on the grid side, the open-loop configration is an effective, as well as cost efficient alternative. 6 MιA powered by Condensator Dominit Grid MιA compensation crrent Grid crrent Load crrent M Load (Sorce of pertrbations) MιA OPERATION PRINCIPLE MιA detects the load crrent with the on-site monted crrent transformers and calclates the contribtion of harmonic crrents, reactive powers and load nbalances (grid pertrbations). A filter crrent is injected into the grid via the intelligent control strctre at the connection point. The filter crrent then compensates the pertrbations of the loads towards the grid, the voltage qality is improved and conformity with relevant standards (sch as EN ) is achieved. 06

7 modlar intelligent active filters MιA PRODUCT LINE The cstomer oriented prodct choice is simplified by providing different versions to choose from. Three different models are available. The 400 V wall monted MιA -S with compact dimensions, the 400 V cbicle type MιA -M for higher otpt power and the MιA -I in cbicle type for 690 V distribtion systems. The MιA -S wall monted filters is available with 60 A or 120 A, with or withot a netral condctor connection. Inside one cbicle MιA -M, p to 300 A rated crrent can be realised from 5 power modles. In this case the ser can choose whether the netral condctor is filtered or not. The MιA -I is a 690 V 3-wire filter with water cooled power electronics. The high efficiency and the effective water cooling enable the provision of p to 560 A filter crrent in one cbicle of 800 mm width. 8 MιA powered by Condensator Dominit PRODUCT FEATURES RELIABILITY AND LOWEST LOSSES Every MιA prodct comprises the stateof-the-art 3-level-IGBT-inverter-technology and therefore provides compared to competitor prodcts optimal vales in losses and dielectric strength. The sophisticated modlar and robst design of the MιA prodct line is trend-setting and provides the ser with a maximm flexibility in respect of extendability, maintenance and repair. In the case of a modle dropot, the remaining modles contine to operate. Short delivery times together with the modlar design, ensre that the falty modle can easily be replaced within a short period of time. MASTERING COMPLEX GRID TOPOLOGY SITUATIONS A difficlt topic in or constantly growing energy distribtion grids are resonances. Cable capacitances, for example EMC-filters, freqently form nwanted bt navoidable resonances with indctive components sch as transformers or crrent lines. In order to take care of this severe weakness of active filters, all MιA -systems are eqipped with a Selective Resonance Monitoring (SRM). MιA detects and monitors resonance points in the network permanently and reliabley and avoids resonance excitation. 9 modlar intelligent active filters ECONOMICAL OPERATION WITH RESOURCES The will to continosly improve or prodcts to enhance cstomer satisfaction while protecting ecological and economical vales was the incentive for developing MιA. The MιA systems master this wide range of challenges excellently. The User decides, which components are needed for each prodct MιA -S and MιA -M can for example be eqipped with or withot netral connection. Frthermore, the color-tochscreen can be omitted in all MιA -systems. This is especially sitable for installations with several filters monted in areas which are difficlt to access. The parametrisation can be carried ot sing a separate programming device (case with display) so a display is dispensable. The modlar design of the MιA prodct line allows the adaptation of the system to growing environments. By adding power modles in MιA -M or MιA -I each cbicle can be extended to p to 5 power modles. This means that the ser is not restricted in the planning phase and can easily extend the system at a later stage. USER FRIENDLINESS The 7 inches color tochscreen garantees a clear ser-friendly interface. It goes withot saying that comprehensive test fnctions and a setp assistant are provided for the commissioning phase. The display provides several langages and therefore faciliates a worldwide se. The intitive se via display, the npretentios strctre of the software and the clear display allow the ser a qick access to the desired information. On reqest, each MιA-filter can be eqipped with a larger 12 inch color tochscreen. 09

10 MιA powered by Condensator Dominit MιA COOLING SYSTEM The cooling of the power modles for the wall-monted enclosres (MιA -S) is carried ot by forced ventilation. The MιA -M system is cooled by sing either air (forced ventilation) or water. Water is the only cooling option for the MιA -l system de to the mostly rogh environmental conditions and the high power density involved. The water cooling for MιA -M verss MιA -I The water cooling systems are divided into two grops which can cope with the demanding challenges that rogh environment conditions case. MιA -M provides a connector for flow and retrn-flow respectively. Inside the filter the cooling water is gided directly via water pipes to the modles and back to the cooling water system on site (direct water cooling). In MιA -I two cooling circits are incorporated. The cooling water provided by the cstomer is primarily connected as in MιA -M. Inside the filter this cooling water is lead into a stainless steel heat exchanger (water/water). On the secondary side of the heat exchanger there is an internal cooling circit with a pmp, expansion tank and so on. This elaborate cooling concept redces the dependency on the on-site cooling medim. This cooling concept can be integrated into MιA -M as well on reqest. Thanks to the flow rate control valves, only the necessary amont of cooling water is sed. 10

Each redction of the voltage qality endangers the energy spply, the operation safety of facilities, control eqipment and EDP systems. The main sorces for poor voltage qality are freqency converters, rectifiers, UPS-systems, PCs, welding machines and a great many of others. They case nwanted grid pertrbations which amongst others display in a high harmonic content. The generated problems are manifold: Relevant standards are violated and warranty claims towards manfactrers are lost. In cables, distribtions and transformers harmonics generate additional thermal losses. The lifetime of motors are decreased by anti-moments and alternating torqe. Distrbances and otages of loads.
