Or fiber recoaters apply a protective coating to fsion-spliced optical fiber, offering more flexibility than a splice sleeve. Proof testers are designed to apply a set load to a fsion-spliced optical fiber in order to test the strength of the spliced fiber. We also offer combination workstations that combine recoaters and proof testers in order to minimize transport of fiber across mltiple stations. These workstations are available from stock with a variety of options sch as atomatic or manal mold assemblies and rotary or linear proof testers. The recoaters and proof testers can be sed with single mode, mltimode, polarization-maintaining, or other specialty fibers.

Compared to sing a splice sleeve, recoating the fiber offers increased flexibility and drability that nearly matches the performance of the original fiber. Becase of this, fiber recoaters are ideal for manfactring high-stress or sensitive fibers sch as ndersea optical fiber cables, sbmarine commnication cabling, fiber lasers or distribted Bragg reflector (DBR) lasers. Dring proof or tension testing, the load is taken p to a predetermined level and released. The PTR301 Linear Proof Tester can perform simple proof tests for loads p to 20 N (4.5 lbs). The PTR302 Rotary Tester can perform both proof testing and tension testing for loads p to 89 N (20 lbs), making it ideal for process qalifications that reqire very high proof test or tension test levels.

Unlike splices that are protected in a rigid splice protector, recoated fibers retain high flexibility and can be easily coiled or spooled. Additional mold assemblies may also be prchased and swapped ot by the ser. The assembly simply screws to the top of the device, making the removal and installation simple and easy. Becase of this, or manal recoaters are adaptable and flexible in the field and can be qickly modified for a variety of fiber diameters. Recoat Injector Two recoat injector configrations are available. For systems with atomatic injectors, the amont of material dispensed by the atomatic injector is controlled by hand via the top-monted "Inject" btton or programmed into the machine sing the handset controller. Systems with a manal injector come with a reservoir to hold recoat material and a two-position distribtion valve to direct the flow (see image to the right). 5 Proof Tester Featres Linear and Rotary Testing Methods Available Linear Testing Uses Fiber Holding Blocks to Pll Fiber Rotary Towers Offer Higher Loads and Tension Testing Flly Programmable with Inclded Tablet Controller Dring proof or tension testing, the load is taken p to a predetermined level and released. Proof testing is employed in manfactring applications to ensre the fiber can spport the necessary service load. To ensre the long-term reliability of the spliced fiber, the proof test level shold be abot three times higher than the intended service load. For tension testing sing a rotary tower, the load is typically increased to the breaking point of the fiber and is best sited for engineering and development applications. Both testing processes are flly programmable, allowing the ser to select parameters sch as the load, the rate at which the load is applied, and the hold time.
